  1. Any idea how long would be a good time to check? I know they say 180days but is that from the date of the first NOA?

Well, I had been calling USCIS once a month after we received the EAD in October. They would tell me to keep on waiting and that I had not missed an interview date or anything. I don't know if it was helpful to call, but I was at least reassured that my application had not been lost--and I had the names of the reps in case there actually was a problem. I tried calling the local office in Portland too, but they just referred me to the main USCIS number. My philosophy is, it doesn't hurt to call.

  2. Hello ... how's everyone been doing?

Robyn-n-Kris I believe that you should call USCIS...go ahead and check the timeline for your service center just to make sure that you are out of their time frame and then place a service call to check on it. ChrisB0707 I believe you should do the same. I for one would do it...

    Good luck!

I am on the same boat with ChrisB0707,I tried to call USCIS and spoke to a lady she said i cant place a service call on my case she said all I can do is wait, my case is transferred to california she said they are only processing I-485 based on employment that made me confused, my question is how would I place a service call?

As I said in my previous post, you have to check the timeline for the service center your case is at this moment...so if it was transf to CA, check the timeline for CA service center and if your case is out of that timeline, call again and ask to place a service request on your case!

    GOOD LUCK!

The letter we received said our case was with the National Benefits Center and to check there for processing times but the NBC doesnt have processing times for AOS. When I check the CSC is only has processing times for employment AOS. When you call the CC line they give you a bunch of BS. ShaSha had her BIO appointment in July and we have not had any changes since. Is anyone else having the same issues or anyone also from Las Vegas with updates would be great also. Goodluck everyone

Yeah, mine also said it's at the national benefits center...so I called USCIS and asked where it really was, after two phone calls and some prying, I got them to tell me it was transferred to my hometown--Portland. They probably did the same thing for you--transferred it to your hometown--or the closest town on the list (they asked for my ZIP code). As you can see...they don't do a very good job of updating their processing times and case status on the website...so much for that extra money we're paying to bring the technology up do date.

  3. We never received notice that our I-485 has been transferred to CSC or the local office...how do we know where it went? We called USCIS and the lady gave us the processing dates for the local office, but a lot of others go to the CSC--so she wasn't sure it was there. She said she could not help us with our case since the date for the local office had not passed yet, even though the CSC has. I called the local office (because they haven't updated their website in over 2 months), and they gave me the USCIS hotline...not helpful!

My wife is worried that they may have scheduled and interview without notifying us...that happened to her friend...and she almost missed the interview. Anyway, any advice is helpful, thank you.

  4.

EAD card arrived in the mail yesterday.

    How long till GC?

    CONGRATS for your EAD!

It depends on each case..check timelines similar to yours to get an idea...

Any idea how long (typically) after the EAD we'll need to wait before receiving an interview date?

My friend said we should call USCIS to make sure they haven't already scheduled an interview and forgot to notify us...that happened to her.

Luckily she called after not hearing from them and was able to make it to her interview...otherwise, they said they would have thrown out her application if she didn't show up.

What do you guys think??? Am I being paranoid?

  5. Hi everyone. I have applied for AOS on the 19th of July and still no update. I finished my biometric.

Since then, I have no update or no touch.

I start seeing a lot of people who filed after me are approved. Even August filers.

    Did everyone get e-mail?

I signed up for e-mail, but I do not get any updates.

We applied on June 12th. We got an email for NOA1 with the Biometrics appt, but have received no updates since then other than an RFE in the mail that didn't show up on the website...they were asking us to send evidence of a pending AOS app, which was in the same packet! Even the processing times website is Bogus. I called USCIS because it's past the processing time and the lady I talked to said that those numbers aren't accurate. So, I think the lucky people get emails and their processing times correspond to predicted ones...I don't think we're so lucky though :(

If I were you, I would schedule an Infopass appointment for the 19th of October as soon as possible. They only let you schedule appointments about 2 weeks out it looks like...and the 19th will be 90days for you, at which point you're eligible for an interim EAD. They were very nice at our Infopass appointment...but basically told us to wait 2 more weeks then come back.

    ...let's keep waiting together...

UPDATE: Infopass is worth your time. We did an infopass two weeks ago. They did a "service call" and said to wait another 2 weeks. We made another INFOPASS appointment immediately after leaving the first one. We scheduled this one for 2 weeks out, since that's how long they asked us to wait. Tomorrow morning we were planning to attend that INFOPASS appointment, but I just checked the USCIS website and they have approved our AP and EAD! EXACTLY 2 weeks after the appointment...maybe they knew we were coming back and didn't want to be bothered again! Schedule those appointments on day 90!

  7. Hello everyone, thanks for your help on everything so far. I've got another question I can't seem to find an answer to. Hopefully someone can help me out on this.

My wife is still waiting for her EAD (after 4 looooong months). She has been volunteering for a company she worked for when she had her OPT, and has incurred some personal expenses like parking fees and mileage when she drives around (the work requires quite a bit of driving). Since it's been 4 months, these expenses are getting to be quite significant, and we're wondering if it's legal for the company she's volunteering at to reimburse her? It wouldn't have been a problem if her EAD arrived after a month or two like most people on the site, but for some reason USCIS is taking longer on our case than the average Joe...it was that way with the K-1 too. Let me know what you think.

    Thanks!

  8. Hello,

My wife filed her EAD, AOS, and AP applications at the same time, in the same envelope, with the check for $1010. That was in June. Today we received an RFE for the EAD and AP applications stating that we must submit evidence that we have a pending Form I-485. I have the NOA1 from the I-485, in fact, all three notices came the same day in separate envelopes. So, I'll send that in right away, but.........why on earth did we receive an RFE of this type if the applications were sent to the same place at the same time in the same envelope???? Has anyone else experienced this? Can't they just type her case number into the computer and see that she has a pending application? I mean, they could log in to their website like we do and see that it's there! Does anyone know how much this is going to slow down the EAD process? Her future employer is waiting patiently for the EAD to come through.

  9. The Tokyo Embassy site is a bit unclear on the topic of "Evidence of Support". Does anyone know if the I-134 fully satisfies the requirement. Here is the page I'm talking about: http://tokyo.usembassy.gov/e/visa/tvisa-niv-kaffidavit.html. Also, there are many other requirements other than annual income and a letter from my boss, do I need to satisfy ALL those requirements (i.e. Expression of willingness to deposit a bond, if necessary, with the USCIS to guarantee that the applicant will not become a public charge in the United States") Thank you for your help.

  10. Wooops!

I forgot to put Medical test result for #11!!

    11. Medical test result

    Thanks!

    DMZOCT2005

Hi all, the NVC has our approved petition (yay!), and we're waiting for it to be sent to Tokyo. My fiancee called the embassy to ask some questions and they gave her a list of hospitals for the medical exam...all are either in Tokyo, Kobe, or Okinawa. My question is: Can she get her medical exam done the same day as the interview? ...she's a little far from Tokyo (Shizuoka) and it's expensive to ride the shinkansen there just for a medical exam. I think I read something about this somewhere on the site, but I can't find where anymore. Any help appreciated, thanks!
