  1. Yu and Dan, I appreicate you answering to my previous post, yet I do have another question. Do I have to come back every 6 months to continue the process of my permanent residency here? I am hoping to have the interview before march so I can atleast become a conditional resident. I will be in Ausi for about 1.5 years to finish my masters. How often do I have to come back to U.S so there are no obstacles in recieving my resident card? Thanks again.

  2. Hey guys, I hope every one is doing well. Me and my wife are planning to live in Australia for about 1.5 years so I can finish my masters. I was already going to a Queensland Univ prior to coming to the U.S. We are not really sure as to what will happen to my Resident or green card. I do have my travel form and the work permit as well which I got last month. We really don't know how long will the green card take and I don't want to waste any more time. Am i able to to live in Ausi while the A.O.S process? How can I pursue my plan? Please help....Thank you for your time.

    Ali

  3. Hey guys, I got my I131 today which I am happy about but I have the exact same 2 copies of them? I am just confused that why did I get two of them or is that how they are suppose to be?

    Thank you

    They send you 2 copies.

When you use them (on your first re-entry to the US), they keep one, stamp the other and return it to you.

On any further re-entries you present the 1 copy (that they returned to you), they stamp it again, return it to you again.

USCIS isn't really clear about this. I've used mine several times and that's how it works!

    Awesome, thank you very much

  4. Hey guys, I need some advice. I've been waiting for my work permit for about 7 month now due to my 2 R.F.E's. Finally

my case is with National benefits center. It's been about a month with them, I really don't know how long it will take them

to process my case. As you guys know you can't even make a drivers license or go to school with out a work permit.

Me and my wife were wondering If we should contact our congressman in cali to speed up the process? I am on k1 visa.

Thank you in advance for all your suggestion.

  5. Hey guys, I have a simple question. I had a california drivers license which is expired now due to the expiration of I-94.

Now I am just waiting for my EAD for the past 7 months so I can get a drivers license so my question is will I get a

permanent license like a U.S resident, valid for 4-5 years or it will be still a temp license like I had before? Thank you.

Each state is a bit different, but your new drivers' license will probably be valid only for as long as your EAD is valid.

Can anyone confirm the above comment regarding the California DL? Will your California DL expire when the EAD expires? If so, can the expiration be extended after you receive your green card?

My Wifes DL will expire after 1 year, but she recieved her GC already so I imagine that it can just be renewed. It may onlt be renewed for another yr after as her GC is a 2 yr right now. After the Lifting of conditions, I think it should go to a 5 yr license.

So your wife got a DL based on work permit valid for a year?

  8. so i made an infopass appt and talked to an officer. she told me that my RFE was received Aug 27. i hope i get transferred to California soon as i see that some people from august are getting transferred. Just want to receive EAD at this point so i can start the "american life"

does this mean that know i have to count 90 for my EAD from the date when they received the RFE?

on the uscis website it still says that my case is on hold.

Hey Sunny, yes your 90 days count start from when they recieve you r.f.e. They might have recieved your R.F.E but haven't updated in the system which is rare. That is exactly what happened to me but what they do is back date to the time when they actually recieved your R.F.E which will show up in their system soon.

I've been waiting for my EAD for about 7 friggin months after two R.F.E's.

    Be patient and good luck.

  9. Hi... I'm betting that people were confused because you don't have a timeline and you posted in the section that reads as if you are in the US, yet you have K1 listed under your picture (as to where you are in the process)... If you're in the K1 part of the process still, you should be posting in the K1 forum.

To be honest, I can't figure out what's going on either. Maybe you should fill in your timeline and/or explain a little better your situation? If you're in the AOS part of the process, then you need to change your info.

Sorry, I'm lost as well. It's hard to answer your question without knowing what phase of the process you are in.

Yes, I figured that. I am in the U.S now and obviously in the Aos process and that was where i posted originally but it was switched under the working & traveling prior to getting a G.C. I tried to edit my time line but it didn't go though due to some technical difficulty. How can I put my time line in the signature?

  10. I feel like I've been talking to my self on this particular topic :) any ways after doing an extensive research I have found the answer to my question. The doc is right I only need 2 shots, T.D and mmr

I have found this link from uscis which states that you need about 5 shots for adjustment of status which is not clearly explained because the age factor applies to every one. Here is the link

    http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...0004718190aRCRD

Here is the link to CDC, (center for disease control and prevention) USCIS follows guidelines from these guys for our immunization, medical examination etc.

    http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dq/civil_ti_vacc_2008_one.htm#vacc

As you can see on the above web page all those shots do not apply to most people who are doing aos for k1 cuz you need to be old enough to get married in the first place :)

B.t.w the cost of medical examination in S.D, cali was $95.00 which includes T.B and hiv testing

and as far as the shots go for TD and MMR they are only $10.00 for both. What a awesome deal from the county clinic :)

Sorry for rambling guys, I was sitting here bored out of my skull so I thought I should post all the above info for rookies like me B)

  11. So today i went to one of the civil surgeon in S.D. I got my examination for H.I.V and T.B which I already did back home but I am suppose to do it again which obviously I just did. They were out of the vaccines so they referred me to the county clinic which they say will be cheaper as well.

I am a little confused about the vaccines as which vaccines am I supposed to get. Doc told me to get T.D and M.M.R! I just want to double with you guys if those are the only ones because I am so not looking to get my 3rd R.F.E for geting the wrong shots or possibly less shots?

Please let me know from your experiences which shots did you guys get for the k.1? B.T.W I don't have any record of my previous shots (immunization) which I can get but will take for ever due to the process back home. Thanks

  12. My EAD took over 5 months to get. And that was with no RFE's involved.

Jeez, that does not sound good at all. Me and wife has decided to wait for another month due to the RFE. On the 9th of next month it will be my 3rd month due to RFE time line. I really hope that I will get it by then.....fingers crossed :pop:

  13. Hey guys, I am sick worried here. I still haven't got my EAD. Here is the story. AOS package was recieved on 05/29/08 at the chicago lockbox. After a month I got an RFE for I485 regarding my co sponsors copy of passport or birth certificate which was sent back and recieved on 07/10/08.

Now my question is does my waiting period count from the original date when they got the AOS package or after the RFE recieved date? Remember the RFE had nothing to do with EAD? It was additional request for the photo copies of documents concerning 485 or am I wrong?

Should we make an appointment with infopass? Can they help us out with EAD to speed up the process. B.t.w I never got the appointment letter for biometrics either but when we called USCIS they said some people don't require it because their biometrics is already done in there home country. I do remember geting biometrics done at the US embassy during my k1 interview but I have no clue what it was for? any ways any advice or suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thank you for your time

We had AOS package received on 7/16, which was transferred to CSC. I haven't heard anything to this point about Biometrics and it seems like most people get notified within a month. Also the USCIS site has no record of the I-131 and I 765 when I do the case search, but only the I-485. I'm confused whether the Biometrics process needs to be done (fingerprinting was done at Montreal embassy) and more importantly who can give me some information. I'm thinking about INFOpass, but if they are as useless as the 800 # for USCIS, I'm not sure what good that will do. So I may be in the same boat as you.

Sorry man, I feel like your case is more complicated than mine if they can't find your I-131 and I765. I think you should make info pass app or possibly file it again. I think I am making infopass app today, wouldn't hurt. I am just sick and tired of sitting around doing nothing. I can't drive a car or even a motorbike and a gear head like me I need those things :)
