  1. You must complete a new and up to date sponsorship form. You will see that it is a contract between the sponsor and the U.S. government that is legally binding.

Hi all. My fiance just received her visa and will be in the usa on march 1st. We will have a wedding on april 18th. My question is: how much time from her entry into the us/wedding date, do we have to file the AOS. What is the set time limitation for these forms to be filled out. Please reply. And thank you all again, at VJ for all your guidance. We could not have done this without your help. thanks. david & dao

  2. We got married on his 2nd day in the US. We would do it again. Our reasons were (1) to start AOS as soon as possible. Sure you can wait 90 days, but thats 3 more months without being able to work (being bored at home!) or travel. (2) we wanted to beat the 2007 fee increase and get our application in before the mad rush. We got married on Monday and I mailed the AOS package on Saturday.

Hi, I wanted to know. What is the time allowed for us to file AOS. My fiance, Dao. will be arriving in the US ON March 1st. What is the time allowed for the AOS filing, once we are married? We are also having a simple, small wedding, with a larger wedding later in the year. Thank you all for your posts. And good luck and happiness to all.

  3. We filed on one visit, and I visited again at the time of K-1 interview.

Lagos is like no other US Consulate in the world when it comes to evaluating bona fides. Filing with only one visit may be fine but I think chances of success at a visa interview with only one visit are slim and none. Ask about this in the appropriate regional forum too.

Hi. I just received my approval on dec 8th. I had been to see my fiance several times before filing. However, I believe as someone posted before. You only need to have met once within the last 2 years. What does help alot is proof of ongoing relationship. IE: photos, copies of phonecalls, letters, etc. I believe you are going to file at end of Dec., and planning on visiting her again in March. For the initial filing 1 meeting should be enough. As I will probably be after March for the visa to be processed. When you revisit with SO take plenty of pics, save plane tickets and boarding passes. Save as many receipts as and anything paper that may help prove visits and time shared together with your SO. Good luck.

  4. No, it does not. They care about what you are making right now.

 Thank you all so much for all the info...I am sure that I am fine as far as income. Do you think including copies of my most recent paystubs with the application would help? Also maybe a copy of my last w1040, for this last year...That will show how much my earnings were this past year. I am planning on sending the K1 visa app. out this Friday. Thanks, again. And good luck to all.

  5. Hi everyone, I am working on the paperwork for my brother to be my fiance's co-sponsor. He owns his own business and meets the requirements for the I-134, but he owes about $800 in taxes to the feds. He is working on paying it off in the next few months, but does anyone have any idea if that will make him inelligible to be a co-sponsor? Thank you!!

Oweing for back taxes doesn't come into play! Since he's self employed have him get tax transcripts from IRS.

Hi, I am not familiar with the process for K1, as I am in the process of getting my packet together for mailing to USCIS. I do hope things go well for your application. I am filling out my paperwork and am wondering. if I make a mistake, can I use whiteout? I know this must sound like a rediculously dumb question. But, I really do want to be as accurate as possible. Also, on the I129F for, it asks where my fiance will file for a visa abroad. As I am filing a K1-visa app. as her sponsor. do i need to put the consulate abroad in that space? please share your experiences with me. thanks.

  6. Hi friends. I am new to this. I am in the process of filling out form I129F, to bring my fiance Dao to the states so we can be married. I have had a rather difficult road, financially in the past, ie:this includes a bankruptcy which has been paid and has been recently discharged. I earn approximately $36,000 per year. Things are getting better now...I am wondering what the USCIS is looking for as far as financially...I am kind of nervous about this, as my history is not the best. Please if you can help with any experience & comments. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

USCIS does not look at any finances in the I-129F stage. That will be left to the US Consulate in your fiance(e)'s home country prior to visa issuance.... Typically if you can demonstrate that your income is at or above the 125% of poverty level then you should be OK....

Thanks fwaguy, Does that mean they will be looking at my fiances,,, finances in her country, or mine...I understand that in some countries they look for the person being sponsored to have some kind of legitimate reason for going back. Such as proof of land , home or business ownership...Is this what you are refering to or will they specifically look at my finances?

Typically it is the USC only

Thanks again...I will be sending in the I129F in approximately 3 weeks...Dao & I will keep our fingers crossed, and hope for good results. Thanks again...
