  1. What do you mean by bonafides exactly? That we really want to marry each other? From what I understand, the Osho center has a bad reputation because people used to do drugs there in like the 70's. Nowadays, if someone even mentions drugs there, they are banned for life, so it's a really different place. People still have a really negative impression about it in India though. My relatives warned me about it, but what I found when I got there was just a place to do meditation. Nothing crazy.

    Thank you..

    Bad reputation for what?

The cannot (or are not suppose to) re-adjudicate the petition as to "face to face" meeting... they must now simply have a question as to the bonafides...

  2. Hello everyone,

I desperately need some help. My fiancee had her interview this morning. Everything was going fine until they asked her where she and I first met, and she told them honestly that it was at the Osho Meditation center in Pune. Just happened to be where we first saw each other, not a big deal, right? Wrong! They freaked out. Apparently the Osho center has a bad reputation in India from the 70's when it was a really different place. But she and I have been together for 3 years, we've been in each others countries for the majority of that time, and our relationship is really stable and positive.

Anyway, they told her that we need to send some more pictures and more evidence of our having met, even though we provided A TON. Plane tickets, emails, visa stamps, pictures, etc. etc. So I think they're just buying time. They said they'll get back to us 8-15 days after they receive the additional materials. Has anyone ever heard of this?

What should I do? I'm going to write them a letter about how serious we are and how much we love each other for my fiancee to submit with the additional materials. Is there anything else I should do?

    Thank you!!!

  3. Thanks to everyone for replying. I really appreciate it, and I know everyone is busy due to the holidays.

So now, based on what you guys are saying, I guess this should be my plan. Please let me know what mistakes I'm making:

    - Send I-129F now.

    - My friend whose address I will use with USCIS will contact me in India when I've received the NOA2. I can let the NOA2 sit here untouched until I come back.

    - My fiancee will receive notice from Mumbai interview requesting that she pick up forms and checklist.

    - I come home, even a couple months after she receives word from the embassy, get the NOA2, get I-134 and everything filled out and notarized, and send this packet express to India.

    - After receiving my mail, my fiancee notifies the Mumbai embassy that she's ready to schedule her interview

From what you guys said, it also seems like the one thing I should be worried about is if I get an RFE while I'm away. Is this correct?

Thank you guys again, much appreciated

  4. Hi everybody,

My original plan was to mail my I-129F packet tomorrow, collect and notarize info for affidavit of support over the next month, and then go through with my longstanding travel plan to go to India to be with my fiancee from early Feb to mid Jun.

So I called USCIS earlier, and the person I spoke to said that my forms should be notarized and filled in only after I receive the NOA2. So then I thought, okay, I can have the NOA2 mailed to my address in the states while I'm in India, and then when I come back in June I can get things notarized and submit the affidavit. Looking at the timelines on here, I figured I could expect to receive the NOA2 in about April. So I called USCIS and asked what the grace period for submission of the I-134 is, and the person I spoke to said that there is no set amount of time, but that it is usually between 30 and 60 days. Which would be while I'm India, most likely, and then the case would be considered "abandoned" and be rejected.

What should I do? Is there a way around this? Should I cancel my travel plans and wait?

Thank you guys, I really appreciate it.

    Ravi

  5. I'm so happy I found this website, it has been a huge help for me in assembling my I-129F materials since the info from the government is so confusing. It's really nice that even people who are done with their processes still contribute to the forums to help people. I hope I can do the same one day.

So I have a bunch of questions...

    1) I have no middle name. On those spaces on the forms should I type "N/A", "none" or leave them blank?

    I would type this -------

    2) It will be very difficult for me to get my Indian fiancees name and address written in Hindi (Devanagri) script. Since all the signage and official business in India is in English, is this question on the form still relevent? Did anyone else have this experience with an indian fiance?

You would only need her address in Hindi if needed to get mail. If her name is commonly written using another alphabet, then she can write it in that alphabet on the G325a. It's alphabet, not language.

    3) She was here with me for so long on a B-2 Visitor visa that my landlord actually put her on my lease. Will this be good supporting evidence, or is it illegal?

It's fine but not needed until interview for a K1.

    4) I threw away a lot of our boarding passes. Yes. I am that smart. Is there anything else I can use instead of them?

What else do you have that shows you were in India during the past two years?

    5) She was just issued her Norwegian divorce papers from her previous marriage. She had a different address on record with the Norwegian government than the one she used for her biographic info, so they have that other address on the divorce papers themselves. Could this be a problem?

    and finally, a long one

    6) I'm hoping to get my papers sent out later this week. I'm planning to go to India from mid February to early/mid June. The potential problem is that most of that time will be in a monastic setting meditating, where we would only have access to a cell phone every 12 days, most likely no internet. In those times, we will call her house and find out if they got anything in the mail and if she needs to leave to go to an interview in Mumbhai. We'll also call my house here in the US to find out about any mail. And we'll have an almost 3 week break at the end of April, followed by 22 days of silence again. Do you guys think that we're going to be able to make this work? I have to be honest that this plan even seems a little ridiculous/impossible to me now that I've typed it out. But this meditation time is really important to me, and it may be the only time in my life that I have a chance to do it. I appreciate any input.

    Thank you.

    5. Not a problem. Many divorce decrees bear no address anyway.

For 6. It seems like the down side is just that if there's an RFE or other timing issue, you could end up delaying the process a month or so for each problem. No problem, then no problem. Make sure all your duck are in a row before you file.

For proof I was India, I have stamps on my passport, atm withdrawals in india, and email itineraries for flights. For proof of her being in the US, she has her passport stamps, atm use here, a successful tourist visa extension (actually, in the letter i wrote for the extension, i talked about my intention to marry her when her divorce was final), and of course the notarized lease. Does this seem good enough? We actually lived together for about 18 of the last 24 months. Are printouts from a banks website sufficient for proving financial transactions?

    Thank you again.
