  1. Chicago is the mail processing center for NBC, the adjudicator there will look at the case briefly and decide to either send the AOS case to CSC for further adjudication, or they will send the AOS case on to your field office for interview.

If it is sent to CSC, typically the adjudicatior at CSC will process and approve without an interview, or if they decide an interview is needed, they will just send it back to NBC and NBC will send it to your field office for interview.

NBC only processes the I-131, and I-765, they do not process the I-485.

    SEE: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/NBCprocesstimes.jsp

Any way to see the processing times for the CSC?

  2. I keep seeing posts where people have had their cases trasferred to the CSC what is the difference between that and the National Benefits Center?

Oh by the way after filing on Jan 17, 2008, i have recieved my AP on March 14, 2008 and my EAD on MArch 15, 2008! now just patiently awaiting the GC, then i will be a happy happy happy man.

What are the odds i will not have an interview if i have been married 1 year before the AOS sent in and have a chile with my wife?

    Thanks a bunch!

  3. i personally have flown with an expired passport, but i had my birth certificate to back up who i really was, as well my drivers license was expired too...so my only 2 forms of photo id were expired, it was not a fun trip, i did have a little hassle, but i there were 2 ladies who worked for continental airlines really helped me out

  4. Hello fellow canucks!

I have a few questions and hopefully someone who had a similar experience can answer, there is a long lead-up to the questions so bear with me.

I entered the US with my wife and infant child on July 11th, 2007. For some unknown reason they stamp a B-1 in my passport as well as on my I-94. They gave me an expiry date of August 31, 2007 due to the fact they thought i was coming and going too much.

We had already filed a I-130 on my behalf while my wife was a PR, this was taking a darn long time she became a citizen and we jumped to anohter long like for me to go and apply for AOS.

Before filing for the AOS my lawyer (i should have gotten a differnet one but that is besides the point) advised me to file I-539 to extend my B-1 samp on my I-94. so we did. i recieved the extension dated until February 29, 2008 on March 1, 2008 ( i recieved the notice 1 day after it expired).

So right now, i have recieve my AP (it's in front of me as i type) and my EAD card is in the mail. And i know the GC is coming soon.

SO finally my questions are: I want to travel back to Canada to see our family with my child and my wife in July. I already have an expired I-94, who do i turn it into when i depart? should i even depart with an expired I-94? If i do depart how does the US border know when i departed? so how would they know if i overstayed? or is this even a problem and i shouldn't worry about it?

    Thank you in advance!

  5. hey everyone, you guys have been great in answering questions so far.....so here's another one. i think my case is pretty complication (my lawyer agrees). i entered into the US on june 11th, 2007 with a B-2 stamp on I-94, due to the immigration inspector it expired on august 31st, 2007. i applied for an extenstion of the B-2 before i sent my AOS package away. my AOS is still being looked at, but my EAD has been printed and is being sent to me, and i recieved my AP today. I recieved an extenstion on my B-2 dated until February 29th, 2008. i am planning on going back to my home country (Canada) to visit family in July. i am not sure if i will have my GC before then.

i have read on my AP that if i leave the country 180 after the expiry of my I-94 they might not let me back in regardless of my AP.

anyone with experience or an answer would be greatly appreciated to answer! and thank you guys as well for everything!

  6. Hello everyone!

My I-130 just finally got approved after 22 months (YAY) and now i am filling out the rest of the paper work, the I-485, and so on. My question is in 99 and 00 i entered the country on J-1 status and recieced a SS # to with with INS authorization only, do i use this SS # on all forms or none at all and could this help speed up the process at all if i do use it?

    Thanks in advance

    Scott

    Another question redarding my I-765:

like i said i have a SS # for work only with INS approval, and while filling out my I-765 i see the question #11 and i have applied before for work authorization, but it was in 1999 and 2000 and the documentation had been destroyed in a previous house fire...how do i account for this missing information?

You check Yes, and name the field office or service center you used, and date, you do not need to attach any documentation.

that was 7 and 8 years ago, i can't even remember what i did last month....is there anyway to get that information from USCIS?

  7. I know i have a lot of questions but you guys have been so great in helping me deal with the stress! and i want to thank you all that replied to my posts. but here is another one

In filling out the I-864 my wife has been a student for the last 3 years and finally got a 'real job' (she would kill me for saying that) and she is now a teacher making more then the 125% of the poverty line. however on her last 3 y ears of tax returns she didn't meet the poverty line requirements. should she get a letter from her employer stating what she makes, the hours she works and her income for the year. we don't want to wait to submit the documents until she files her next tax return. so any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Scott

  8. You may want to check with an attorney but yes I believe that overstays are forgiven when you apply for AOS. Now I think you may not be eligible for AP or Employment Authorization, but again there are people on this forum who know more than I do. Now I have to ask, why didnt you file your AOS earlier before your I-94 expired?

    Hey everyone,

I have a question. My wife's I-130 petition for me was finally

apprived after 2 years. According to my I-94 i was supposed to leave

on Aug 31/07, but a critical need (my daughter's care) required me to

be a stay-at-home dad. i know i have 180 days of grace period after

my I-94 expires to lawfully leave the country. We are currently in

the process of filling out the rest of the forms required for me to

adjust the status and live and work in the US.

I guess my question is can i stay here in the US past my 180 grace

days as long as i have submitted my I-485 and other paper work

    without

    reprocussions?

    Thank you in advance,

    Scott

    Help Anyone?

My wife and i never knew we could, we thought we had to wait for I-130 approval before continuing on with the process of AOS
