She has been here a few months arelady, she must be pretty close to the 6 month mark

Adjustment of status from a tourist visa is not possible when the petition is based on the spouse of an LPR. She must complete the process in her home country   She may visit according to the limits on her visitor visa but she cannot stay here 

Thank you for your response, this is what I figured. Lawyers are telling her she can just stay and wait here for her green card and that just doesn't sound right to me 

My friend is being from the Dominican Republic is being petitioned by her husband who is a usa resident (not citizen) she has a tourist visit and travels back and forth. She recently decided to stay and wait for her green card here in the usa with her husband. Can she do that without being penalized? I don't want her to get in trouble for staying here and then get penalized and not get her green card

His 10 year visa will be worthless if he stays more than time allowed on I-94 ( assuming 180 days since he is still here). ..and will bar him from any other visas he may want to look into. 
 

What made him change his mind from tourist to wanting to stay? 

Things are very hard in the Dominican republic even with having a degree he could not get a good job. He came here and was able to start working. He is looking for opportunities to better himself. He is working and going to school here in ny but has a daughter he left behind in Dominican republic we would like for him to be able to visit her that's why we are trying to find a way to legalize him 

My boyfriend from the Dominican republic entered New York with a tourist Visa in february of this year 2022 and stayed. His visa is still valid until 2027. Is there a way he can legalize his status and stay here legally? I cant marry him because I'm going through a long divorce. Is there anything that can be done so he can become legal here?
