  1. Wanted to add for all those worried, we never got an RFE and here's what we sent in the package:

o Copy of the passport and green card (of my husband)

o Copies of our 2004 and 2005 US tax returns, filed jointly

o Copies of our bank statements, for both our checking and savings accounts, over the past two years (3 for each account)

o Copy of our apartment lease, showing a joint lease

o Copies of our drivers licenses with the same address on them

o Copies of our health insurance cards

o Copy of the title of our car, showing a joint ownership

o Copies of our car insurance bills (2 over the past year and a half)

o Copies of Gas and Electricity bills (2 of each over the past year)

o Copies of our airline tickets from a vacation we took together in January 2007.

o Pictures of us together throughout the last two years. (about 20 of them)

I hope this helps a little. Thanks again for all the help, and I wish everyone luck!!

  2. Hello all!

My husband finally received his 10 year green card right before Christmas!! It was a great gift for us both. It took about 7 months to the day from the day we sent out the application to the day he received his card.

So, other VSCers, keep up hope! We never got a letter saying we needed to provide more information or anything. As always, VisaJourney has made the entire application process run so smoothly and without a lawyer. I'm so happy we're finally done with this. He won't be applying for citizenship, so we're off the hook for 10 years. I guess at that time I'll be back here again haha! Good luck everyone! Thanks for all the help over the past 3-4 years ^^

  3. Yeah it does seem like they're speeding up. My husband and I filed on the 21st, they received it the 29th, and we got our NOA1 yesterday (only 21 days from the day they received it, and it was dated 05/29/07)

I do hope they're speeding up, but it's probably just for this first part haha.

Apparently I can't type today, I meant to say we filed on the 21st and they received it on the 22nd. Durr..

  4. Yeah, I know, odd right?

I sent my package on May 21, they received it May 22nd. I was checking my bank acct on the phone today and thought "well I'll just check just in case" and it turns out the check cleared my acct on May 30th.

Maybe the officer really liked my Garfield themed check?

Just to give some hope to other VSCers, that maybe they're not so slow after all? *crosses fingers*

  5. This is all great advice, as hubby and I will also be moving while the I-751 is in process. However, my husband and I have always stated on all our immigration forms that we consider my mother's house our permanent residence and all correspondence should go to there as my husband and I have been moving a lot since he's come over to the US, and our Driver's Licenses will have that address until we find a place to settle down in for more than a year.

I don't know if you have that option to have it go somewhere else, to have ALL correspondence go there until you are fully settled in the move. It's probably not a helpful suggestion but I thought I'd try nonetheless :)

  6. I own our home outright, there is no loan or rent docs that I could provide. The deed has never been changed, really no reason to except to have the doc for INS. Even if I died under Georgia law, the house goes to her since we are married. To tell you the truth, I have never thought about changing it. I found some dental visit records and insurance stuff to add also. All of this stuff is addressed to both of us at the same address.

Do you think I should explain in my cover letter the house is only in my name and the reason for it?

An extra letter explaining some things wouldn't hurt I think. My husband and I have 2 different addresses our correspondence comes to (our bills go to 2 different addresses and our drivers license has a different address than our apartment lease) and I thought it would be safe to add an extra letter explaining why. I put it as one of the bullet points on our cover sheet and sent it off like that. It never hurts to explain why you didn't include those documents in there, IMO.

  7. Awesome!! My husband and I are sending our packet out on Monday to VSC, so we'll be right there with you. I'll be interested to hear updates from you and compare them to mine ^^

Good Luck! We're feeling a bit nervous as well but if we did the entire K1 process by ourselves and it went through with flying colors I think we'll have the same luck with the GC. *knock on wood*

Again, good luck and I'll be looking forward to hearing about your progress.

  8. Doh!! Thanks j-manu, I just realized I included my 05 and 06 returns , not 04 and 05. My husband didn't enter the country until 11/04 so we didn't file jointly that year (he wasn't authorized to work until sometime in 05). Now I need to fix my cover page after I'd already printed and signed it :crying:

Thanks for helping me find the mistake though, even inadvertently!!

Thanks for the support everyone. As always, this forum is so helpful and nice ^^

  9. Alrighty folks, my 90 day window opened today, but I am uncomfortable sending on a Saturday so we're sending on Monday.

    Here's what I got:

o Copy of the passport and green card (of my husband)

o Copies of our 2004 and 2005 US tax returns, filed jointly

o Copies of our bank statements, for both our checking and savings accounts, over the past two years (3 for each account)

o Copy of our apartment lease, showing a joint lease

o Copies of our driver’s licenses with the same address on them

o Copies of our health insurance cards

o Copy of the title of our car, showing a joint ownership

o Copies of our car insurance bills (2 over the past year and a half)

o Copies of Gas and Electricity bills (2 of each over the past year)

o Copies of our airline tickets from a vacation we took together in January 2007.

o Pictures of us together throughout the last two years. (about 20 of them)

We don't really have time to rally friends and/or family together to do the letters of affidavits, we might do just one if we feel we really need to (all our friends and family that aren't my parents live too far away)

So, wonderful helpful folks of VJ, any suggestions? Positive reinforcement that this is enough is highly recommended

  10. The in-laws just flew back to Worcester yesterday, *sigh* However, they brought a RIDICULOUS amount of Brit treats with them, so hubby and I are thrilled!

We have more Sticky Toffee pudding than we could EVER hope to eat in a lifetime, along with more chocolate bars than I ever received on Halloween!! The highlights:

*Ten packs of Digestives (Caramel, Orange and Butterscotch chocolate flavour!!)

    *Jaffa Cakes

    *Fig Buscuits

*Tons of Aero bars ;__; I'm so happy

*Galaxy Caramel Flavour Hot Chocolate mix

With all the good treats sometimes I wonder why I didn't just immigrate over there instead XD
