  1. My husband has applied for EI, and just got a call today from someone. She stated that he was not eligible for work until he recieves his EAD. Is this true? I remember people talking about recieving EI without their EAD. What do we have to do to get around this and get approved?

  2. Yes, print all four copies. Each copy goes to a different location. In the bottom left hand corner, the pages are numbered so they know which goes where.

Hey everyone! I am working on getting my G-325A form completed and it took me over an hour just to complete it. Due to college, spending some summers in Canada, I have had many addresses and employers in the past 5 years. I did one supplemental sheet for employers and one for addresses as there was not enough room on the G-325A. My question is, the G-325A duplicates itself four times, do I have to print off and sign 4 duplicate sheets for each category? It sounds like the common sense thing to do, but I am just looking to see what others have done or would do in my situtation as the instructions do not state. Thanks guys!
  3. I did it, and so did a lot of others. It's not illegal. Though you'll find many on VJ who will argue the point. Some feel they are experts in things which they have no expertise or background in. Suffice it to say they are wrong and don't even bother arguing the point.

The EAD only authorizes work for an American employer. The US has no jurisdiction for authorizing employment for a Canadian-based company. Just make sure the Canadian company knows he's a non-resident so he gets taxed appropriately, then claim that income in both your US and Canadian tax return. Easy peasy.

Thank you Krikit. That is what I understood. I'm glad someone knows what they are talking about

  4. Is the or could the Canadian company also be considered a US employer? Do they have US based operations and regular US based employees?

No. They do not have US based operations, they are only Canadian.

I do not understand why this would be a problem, because he is working for a CANADIAN company, not an American company....

  5. My fiancé's company (that he works for currently) wants him to work remotely (through his computer) when he moves to the U.S.

Is this legal? He would still claim taxes, but just be doing basically the same job, but in the states.

  6. I have a MacBook and my fiancé has a MacBook Pro. We both love ours. He is an apple certified technician, and has always been Mac, but I switched from PC a little over a year ago, and would never go back!

Depending on what you use the computer for... I think a MacBook is good for most users, unless you are going to use your computer for work- then go for a MacBook Pro!

  7. Ok, so I should be ok without tax transcripts and supporting documentation... I only make about $5000 a year, so my income is completely insufficient, and that is why I got a co-sponsor...

    Thanks!!

I am a full-time student, and only work part-time, so I obviously cannot afford to sponsor my fiancé. We got a co-sponsor, and have all the documents from her, so my question is:

Do I need my tax transcripts, bank receipts etc if we are using a co-sponsor?

I requested my transcripts... but was hoping not to have to worry about all the other documents if I don't need to...

    Any advice is appreciated! Thanks

I-134 requires supporting documentation. If tax returns were not filed, you provide an explanation citing the IRS regulation that exempted you from filing. You can skip the asset information if income is sufficient or if completely insufficient and you have a co-sponsor.

Hey, you guys have gotten this far. What's a few more days, eh? Those last few weeks I missed Vancouver dreadfully, and I was still there!

So back to your q, I would say get there at 6 AM. He won't be done till around 10.30. Then he'll return around 2 to pick up his results. In the morning he'll be spending roughly three hours waiting around so bring the paper, crosswords, etc. There's a Tim Horton's at the gas station, and along Davie there are tons of eateries. So he needn't be totally sitting around.

Thanks! I think I've been stressing enough for the both of us... He lives in Vancouver, so I'm sure he will find something to do...

I just want him here as soon as possible... all these delays are killing me!

But he's received packet 3, right?

If yes, then no worries, his interview will likely be within a month or two from now.

I say get there even earlier! 6 AM. I got there at 6.40 and waited till 7.15 in line.

Yes, he recieved his packet 3. He faxed in his DS-230, but it didn't go through and the consulate called him... he then re-faxed it later, and so that is why we are still waiting on his interview... The lady that called him said they were scheduling for August 27th interviews at the time, so we are hoping for August 29th or September 5th *crosses fingers*

No, it is not required for the medical, because when he booked the medical, he would have told Laura (or another receptionist) when his interview was. Anyway, the medical staff don't require to see his appointment letter. Get there EARLY. There is a queue at 6.30 AM!

The appointment letter is required for his Vancouver consulate interview. That allows him entry to the building.

Well his interview hasn't been scheduled yet... He is planning on being there at 6:30... is that early enough??

  12. Hi, my fiancé has his medical in Vancouver tomorrow, and I have a question. I have been searching the forum for the answer, but can't seem to find a consistent one.

    He has:

    -Immunization records

    -Passport photos

    -Passport

I've read that he needs an appointment letter? Is this required? What is this? I'm beginning to get confused with all of the paperwork I have been doing...

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks

  14. Hi Everyone!

I'm basically a February filer (Jan 29th). Just thought I'd say hi and keep your heads up!! It will all be worth it in the end.

Just think about it... one year from now, we will all be with our loves and will realize how much stronger this process made us.

It is really nice to have a site like this where I can read about and talk to people who are going through the exact same thing as me....

Stay positive Feb filers!!! We will be getting approved soon!!
