I first discovered this website about 12 years ago when I was under k1 visa and moving to the USA etc etc. My wife and I were throwing around the idea of moving back to Canada for a variety of reasons. Was wondering if there was a comparable website like this step by step guide for Canadian immigration for my wife. I know my son is legally Canadian because of me, but also need to do the paperwork for that too. 

IF anyone is still updating this.. Just wanted to let everyone know i finally got my interview today. Passed it.. then had the oath a few hours after it. Interview was smooth. The man i had was very "to the point" and got right into the application. Went over everything as normal. Then moved to the civics test.

1)who signed the D.I.?

2)Who is the commander in chief?

3)What political party is the president?

4)What are the main political parties?

5)name 3 original colonies.

6)who was the president during WW1?

Reading was: "who elects the congress?"

written was : "the people elect congress"

After he said i was approved, i went and asked him how many actually fails... he said many people will try to get medical exempt for alzheimers etc so they dont have to study.. Lots of doctors signing off on papers that they shouldnt be so people dont have to study. Lazy... He said he passes about 97% of his interviews. Anyways.. Oath ceramony was quick.. 31 people. Now im a citizen!!!

Whats the next step? Do i go to the post office and apply for a passport with my naturalization certificate?

This is ridiculous......... NOA Dec 9th... placed in line for interview 12/31... STILL NOTHING.. Im checking online everyday for an update.. calling almost every other day for an update.. NOTHING. what the hell is wrong with Denver? THey're seriously now up to 7months delayed. NICE GOING STONER STATE

Woop... Denver field office is currently working on August 4th N400 applications........................ Looks like i'll be here for a while yet

how do you check how far behind your field office is?

Well.. i havent had any activity since dec 31.. so i called uscis and complained and they told me my local field office (DENVER) is backed up big time and still working on N400's from July..... Guess it'll be like september until my interview

still nothing since dec. 31

Still no updates since 12/31....... i called the number and they didnt do anything because it hasnt been 3 months since "in line" status.. what the heck.

In line since 12/31.... STILL nothing. :( :( :( :( ... ps... i cant get the uscis.gov website to work to check my casestatus

still waiting for my interview notice!!!!!!! Darn marijuana state!

You can download naturalization test questions on google play store.. im sure in itunes too.. that way you can study anywhere.. anytime

Finally got my yellow letter to bring additional docs(ONLY DRIVERS LICENSE) to my interview (applied based on 5yrs).. Been looking everyday for it cause it seems like the majority of the people get a yellow letter shortly before an interview letter!!!

My situation was pretty much the same as yours. I have only had my finger printing done, so i cant answer your question... but i hope that knowing you're not alone helps a bit haha..keep me posted

no update on my "in line status" does it usually take 30 days to move from "in line" to get a date?

waooo, this is really Fast! You sent the application on Dec 02...that is under a month for receiving, clearing FP, and line for interview. Thus, my guess, based on the data I have seen all over, your interview notification should be not later than a month away.

Like the title says, i just had my biometrics done today and i forgot the red packet they gave to me at the office... its 2 hours each way to the office so i decided not to go back and get it once i got home... Am i missing anything important from that? Or is there a number i can call to request them to send me a copy?

Hi everyone,

its been awhile since i've been on here and i was thinking about naturalization process. I came on a k-1 visa from Canada and long story short, my wife and i got a divorce. I've been here for almost 4 years now and i assume im going to have to wait until my 5th year to apply for citizenship. Will the divorce be a problem? or will i just be applying because i've lived here for 5 years? Also, can someone link me to what type of documentation i have to send in with my application?

I'd like to thank everyone on VJ for their guidance in this very long long long process starting from K-1.

I guess i'll be back in a couple of years when i decide whether or not i want citizenship or just keep renewing my greencard.
