  1. My wife and son came to the U.S. April 2008 on K-1, K-2 visas shortly after we were married. We filed for AOS in May of 2008, and had our interview 9 months later in January 2009. Our interview went fine, and the officer said we would be approved but we needed to provide them with I-693 supplemental, and gave us 30 days to do so. We sent the I-693 with in the 30 days and thought everything would be ok. Now 4 months later we have not received anything so i called USICS to report the case was outside its processing time. Today I received and email stating....We are actively processing this case. However, we have to perform additional review on this case and this has caused a longer processing time. . They also stated this could take an additional 6 months. I guess this would not really be a problem but my wife and son's EAD and Advanced Parole documents expire in July, and to top it off the state sent my wife a letter saying if she does not provide something that shows she is still here legally they will suspend her drivers license in June. Well we are running out of any documents that says they are here legally. So what do we do????

Any one with any advice or knowledge your comments would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you in advance

  2. So sorry to hear about this... I do hope it shows up soon...Canada Post and their tracking system are horrible...when we received our Visa it still said (online and on the phone) that it was still in Montreal..good luck, keep us posted!

yes it says the same on Canada post website about ours. just says it left montreal on monday thats it. Bu from all the reps we talked to they said it has been redirected from timmins ontario on tuesday and has not seen scince.

  3. we have tracked the item and i have talked to every type of Canada post agent possible it was last seen some where in timmins ontario on tuesday after that it has fallen from the earth nobody knows!!!! Even an agent who specializes in tracking packages cant find it. I wrote the Montreal consulate to let them know whats going on and they pretty much told me to get F*@ked deal with the post office. So who knows what will be :unsure::angry::unsure::angry::unsure::angry::unsure::angry::unsure:

  4. Oh no!! :ranting: I would be freaking out if I was you. I hope they find it!! At least you're already approved...so even if you have to replace your passports, they can just put the approval in them and have you on your way...but after all the time it takes to get the approval, another delay is so frustrating! I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's a fluke and it will turn up.

Its not that easy my fiancee is a Russian citizen and only a permanent resident of Canada it could take her up to six months to get a new passport!!!

  5. We were approved at our interview everything was great and now Canada post has no idea where our express post mailer is!! All they know is that it left Montreal on Monday thats it!!!! We are so lost!! We have called Canada post and they have a person who specializes in tracing packages and he cant even find it!! #######!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. We are going for our interview in montreal on wednsday. On the appointment letter it says we need to have duplicate copies of the ds 156. We already sent duplicate copies of our ds 156 with our packet three. We are just bringing the copies of the original 156 to the interview. Do we need to go and do them over again and submitt 2 new ones at the interview? Any one with a recent interview or any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  7. they are refering to the 601 waiver but honestly i dont think you will need it. but fill it out and bring it in any way but you will have to prove extreem hardship and dont forget the 400+ dollars it cost to file it. but like i said i really dont think you will need it. you live near toronto so im sur before you went to visit your husband you went to the US to do shopping or other stuff. Honestly if they ask you when the last time you visted the us be honest and tell them of your last vist and thats it. Just be direct and dont give more info than what they ask for.

  8. I would just chill out a little if you were not issued a green I-94 card at the border when you entered it is pretty hard track. here is a link to a some info and a study that explains the tracking of overstays from canada and mexico with out being issued an I-94.http://www.gao.gov/new.items/d0482.pdf

If the consulate see that you have traveld back and forth from canada and the us it could be enough for them to see that you are aware of the laws and tha you abide by them.

    good luck!

  9. I gave them (at MTL) photocopies of my original translations (which I had with me, just in case). It was fine. The translations are yours sweetie, not theirs; so don't panic. Remember to make copies of EVERYTHING!!!! ;)

Thanks for the info I appreciate it!

  10. We are going through Montreal on the 26th

I thought that was the reason why you took copies of the originals so they can verify the original documents and just keep the copies. But I guess if they kept your original Marriage certificate they probably will keep the original translations.

Maybe....maybe not. One thing, we never sent copies to NVC with our originals and my Husband didn't take any copies to the interview - but - some people get their originals back - that's why I think it is up to the CO (he did get his original birth certificate back at the interview).

It sure can't hurt to ask when you are there, if it looks like they aren't going to give them back to you. Mind you my Husband asked the CO about the marriage certificate and he said it would be mailed out with the visa - it wasn't.

yes your right we will just ask at the interview. we just would like to get them back because we need them for our marriage license and social security cards.

  11. Here is the link to the statement about verification of your translation: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...ge=translations

    (F)

Thanks again Ladywhite but we already have the proper Translations. We just want to keep the originals because there are certified and notarized and we can probably use them for the rest of there lives, and also like i said we paid decent money for them and we would like them back so we can always use them.

    Hey spaulding,

Which consulate are you going through, MTL or Vancouver?

I was just thinking about this and you know, I think it is really up to the CO, someone here must have had an interview where they took translations though so at least you should be able to get some idea....anyone?

For us, although no translations, they kept our original marriage certificate.

  12. We paid decent money to have my Fiancee and her sons birth certificates translated. If we make copies of the originals and present the original translations with the copies at the interview will they return the original copies to us? I am asking because we will need these original copies of the translations of the birth certificates to get our marriage license, and we don't want to pay to get them translated again if we can avoid it. Any info would be appreciated.

  13. K-1 has no interaction with NVC, you may have wanted to post this to the Consulate forum.

spauldingjeffery I would recommend that you post this in the Canada forum to get first hand experience from the consulate you are going to - Vancouver or Montreal, I'm sure someone there has submitted translations and they will be able to give you first hand experience.

oops your right wrong area here sorry

  15. If you just give them simple evidence you will just blend in with the other thousands of Canadians who cross into Buffalo for shopping and to use the aiport you will be just fine. Honestly the CBP officer is not intrested in your story about your visa journey. Complacency of the officer is on your side here use it to your advantage. Im sure you will be fine in any way you choose just giving you a heads up and some facts about CBP.

    Good Luck!

  16. Thats the thing with POE crossings, it all varies from each one!!

Thats the thing with POE crossings, it all varies from each one!!

flames is right not only varies form POE but also varies from the CBP officer. Little fact here a CBP officer is on probation for two years once they are hired and can be fired for breathing wrong. So if you get a young one or a newbie and you start pulling out all of these immigration papers like your NOA1 & NOA2 you are likely going to start raising red flags. Remember every person at a POE is a potential immigrgant in the eyes of an CBP officer. Because look at it yes the officer may see that you are going the leagle route but he might also suspect that maybe you have been denied your visa at your interview. Look at your NOA2 if the date has expired because you are going through montreal you start waving that around you could be in for trouble. And yes you can still make it through your interview if you were denied entry but this is already a stressful process do you realy want to add that to your list? Better leave all your important immigration documents at home where they should be. Your flight Itinerary and some pay stubs should be sufficient. Remember KISS.. Keep It simple stupid.

  17. Have fun!!! Dont tell ur whole story to the POE officer, keep it short and to the point and be confident in ur replies! Smile!!

Im just gonna say I'm going to visit my fiance for a few days....does that sound ok? :)

Better to say your going to visit friends in newy york or going site seeing in new york the customs officers are very familiar with Canadian's driving across the POE to fly from the Buffalo Airport because of cheaper flights it very common. My friend is a CBP Officer and he says they get training scenerios all the time about women coming to the POE saying they are engaged to US citizens ans such. They are trained to deny your entry trust in that ecspecialy if you start pulling NOA2 and such. Keep it simple you dont want to have to explain you were denied entry at your interview.
