  1. hi,

my husband and I just filled our forms out april 24th. I am from Canada and my husband is from the USA who is the petitioner. We had a lawyer help us. Anyway, we filed I-485, I-130 and they totaled $1365. We got money orders to equal $1365. just for your curiosity the I-485 was $1,010.00 and he I-130 was $335. And the lawyer photo copied everything needed, really it was all my information that was photocopied since im the one who wants to Adjust status. photo copies of the W2 and the taxes of 07 were also included. We sent everything in one envelope and certified it, they received it in 3 days. We just got a response today may 5th to notify me that i will be receiving an appointment notice for my biometrics appointment. Oh and you might want to inquire about the I-765 Application for Employment Authorization this application is free, or atleast it was for us. We filed the 3 forms together. Our lawyer told me I would be able to work in 3 months or less. I hope this helped you and I hope I answered your questions.

    Hi, everybody,

    :crying:

So, i came here, under vwp, married my beautiful wife, a usc, and i am going to file for AOS. I am going to file the i-485 and i-130 pack together

I am almost done, but i still have some questions.

1)What is amount for the check for filling i-485, and the i-130 concurrently? Do i need two separate checks? If so....what is the amount of both of them?

    What is the order of?

is there any type of payment that would be easier for me, where i could track it? like a money order?

2)For the i-130 pack, do i need to send them a birth certificate, and the copy of the passport of my wife (she's the usc), or can i just send one of them?

    3) i am going to send, a w2 form, and a copy of the tax return, for the last year. My question is:

Is a photocopy of our joint tax return is enough, or should we certify, the tax return as well?

    Thank you very much!!!

  2. i have an appointment friday feb 1 to get my vaccines up to date and im not sure which ones are needed. i know a TB test and the flu shot. not sure of the rest. please can someone help me before my appointment. im canadian married to an american, working on my american status and getting my medical and shots done in the usa, already married. thank god im on my husband medical insurance cause its not cheap out of pocket.

  3. Ok i am in the USA and plan not to leave until after I've gotten a response from filing all the necessary forms. I was told to file forms I-485, I-130 and I-765. I have not done that yet. I guess until I have completed the paper work I am still considered a visitor. I just figured it would still be ok to collect GST and child tax benefit until I am granted permanent residency here in the USA.

  4. Ok I need all the help I can get. I just recently married my boyfriend of 3 1/2 yrs a week ago. Our son was born in Canada. We have frequently came to kentucky to visit and never had a problem going through customs/immigration at the border. I want to know how do I go about becoming legal here in the U.S. and I also want to know how can I start working a.s.a.p. We already filed the birth abroad for our son, but whats next. We have prepaid legal helping us but I would like to move faster than they are helping. Someone tell me the best and quickest way to get this paper work started. I know there are a few different forms what ones would best fit my situation. I am here in the u.s. now visiting but do not have a visitors visa or any kind of documentation regarding my visitors status right now. thanks

    Where do you reside now?

Where did you reside when you got married?

Did you decide to marry before or after your last entry to the US?

Start with the guides because the answers to your questions depend on the circumstances.

right now i still legally reside in canada but am in the us and plan to be here until i figure out what im doing with the paper work. someone told me that if i do leave and try to re-enter into the u.s.a. i might have a problem getting back into the country. my sons father and I had been talking about getting married on and off but nothing was set. when i came to visit last we went to get a marriage license and then got married.
