  1. • What is Administrative Processing?

AP is also called Additional Administrative Processing and is when the applicant is being checked more closely. It can be for security checks which encompass fingerprints and/or name checks or for document verification.

    • When does Administrative Processing Happen?

AP can happen at any time during your processing. It can happen at a service center, at the NVC level, or at the embassy level. It mainly is discussed here in the forums at the embassy level.

    • Who can get Administrative Processing and Why?

AP usually affects men and women from certain countries but anyone can get AP. Persons coming from T countries (Terrorist Countries) seem to have more security checks and have to endure AP at the embassy level after their interview. Common names, your nationality, religion, education, relationship of applicant, travels and job can all be factors for AP. Having incomplete or missing documents will also cause a case to be put in AP. In some cases if the embassy does not believe in the validity of the relationship they can investigate it further with a field investigation.

    • What are the T-Countries?

Although it is classified, the list of countries reportedly affected by these restrictions includes, but is not limited to, Afghanistan,

    Algeria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Djibouti, Egypt,

Eritrea, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya,

Malaysia, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia,

Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates,

    and Yemen.

    • Can I check the status of my case?

The embassy will not in many cases respond to emails until a certain amount of time has elapsed. The best bet is to contact Department of State aka: DOS and ask them for an update bi-weekly. They will not be able to give you details but they can tell you if the case is still pending in AP or cleared.

    • DOS information: DOS can be contacted Monday through Friday during business hours. You must have all information concerning your case with you so that they can assist you.

Department of State’s visa Information phone number: 202-663-1225 then press 1 and then press 0 .

    • Can I expedite this process?

The simple answer is NO. No one can expedite the checks since they are considered a matter of National security. An elected official can only make a congressional inquiry on your behalf. They cannot get the checks finished any faster.

    • Does AP have any time frame for completion? NO AP can last anywhere from days, weeks, months and in a few cases years.

Anyone that happens to be given a 221(g) or Administrative Processing letter must be patient and let them do their work. Do not call constantly and ask about your case. Remember each time your case is moved it can then end up at the bottom of the stack and your time can be extended. Each case is different so you cannot judge your case by any other and each consulate/embassy may have a different average time for completion of AP.

I hope that help you somehow to understand what does AP means ?

How long it has been since they put your case under AP ? It has been almost a year for me and still no visa !

You can join us in ''Cairo's final review club'' thread .Its for people who are under AP or under final review .here is the link of that thread Cairo's final review club

Good luck and my best wishes for ya .

  2. Wallah to be honest with you I don't care about me getting my citizenship anymore because I know they are not going to give it to me because I leave the country for 5 months and then come back every yr. but i stay in the states and work everytime I come back i work and pay taxes...

I can apply for citizenship in a yr and half, which I highly doubt they will give it to me.

That why I am more foucsed on his papers then mine because some where down the line we screwed up because I go down to lebanon every yr.. Yallah I can't do nothing anymore just say inshallah his papers go by fast.. And I don't have to wait another yr and I don't have to go back down to lebanon. Well actually I am going to go down in May inshallah but what I really would like is to have him come back with me.. OMG LOL that would be my dream come true.. LOL

    Hi there :)

  3. Hi Lebanese girl,

just wanted to share my input, it took us about 1 month to get our approved case to NVC, then 3 months at NVC, and 2 months to wait for interview date and then we have 2 weeks of AP... It should not be too long for you, I hope!!

Keep trying to call NVC and try to get everything you can done before hand, download your forms and have hubby filled them out, have him send them to you so when you get the ok, you can just send it in, that's cuts down on the process a lot!!

    Hope that helps

  4. Hello there,

LPR have to wait longer then US citizens to have their spouse come to US, I had to upgrade mine to US citizen in order to get the process going faster. I know this is not what you wanted to hear, but just giving you some advise from someone that was a PR, then I become US citizen before habibi could come.

Is there any way you can become US Citizen anytime soon?

    Good Luck

  5. Hi this happen to us too

    Hello,

I filed for an I-130 for my husband that is in the United States here with me, back when we applied I was a permanent resident. The application was received Feb 1, 2007. In May of 2008 I became a naturalized citizen, so our lawyer upgraded the application and it’s now in a new visa category as “immediate relative”. We were told by USCIS that the processing times for this application is 6 months.

According to USCIS the upgraded was received in September of 2008. It’s been more than 6 months and I do not hear from the. When I contact them they tell me that it’s pending background investigation.

We have been married since 2006 I do not understand why the delay, I was told that it would be processed right away since we had applied back in February of 2007. Has someone had the same experience??

    Help please!!!

    Thanks so much!! :crying::crying::(

I added another in the wedding album of VJ...i'm sure you'll recognize me :)

My wedding was 3 days and I tried to make it as halal as possible while still going with the Moroccan tradition. First day was the henna party with the women. Second day was just the men and the marriage certificate. Third day was just the women and party!
