  1. You might want to follow up with a human to see if it got changed. Some forms clearly have physical address and mailing address. Maybe not so on the I-130. You might have to explain your unique situation. The receipts notices are not so important, but you do want to receive the EAD card and green card.

I called about 4 times earlier today and customer service kept telling me they couldn't give me any more information apart from filling in the change of address form online. I even got transferred to a tier 2 customer service rep and that did me no good, he seemed to be rushed and gave me the same info as the other reps.

I will try call again tomorrow and see if I can get someone to help because the I-130 asks for addresses in at least 3 different sections and I'd hate to get RFE for just having the wrong address on there.

Man this stuff is so stressful can't wait for it to be over lol

  2. I-130 asks for our address 3 or 4 times, my wife went ahead and put our physical address for all of the questions instead of our PO Box. We don't get our mail delivered to our door and use our PO Box for everything.

Should I submit a change of address and put my PO Box address for all those questions? or should I use a different format for the address and include the PO Box within it?

Below is the format we normally use.

    PO Box xxxx

    City

    State

    Zip

It doesn't clearly state if it wants our physical address or mailing address so kinda confused. USCIS was no help with this matter so I'm hoping someone here can help!!

  3. I have been waiting since March 31st to receive word back about i-485 and I-130 since I have not

even received the receipts for those yet. The only thing I got was 3 emails with my receipts numbers and one hard copy mailed to me for I-765.

Today I received an update about my case which is below.

Notice Was Returned To USCIS Because The Post Office Could Not Deliver It

On May 4, 2015, the Post Office returned a notice we sent you for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSCXXXXXXXXXX, because they could not deliver it. This could have a serious effect on your case. Please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice immediately. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

I live in Kotzebue Alaska which is a small village, we don't get our mail delivered to us so through the postman and everything is sent to our PO Box. For some reason the letter USCIS sent me about my I-485 was undelivered and sent back to USCIS. I'm not sure why because the address on it is correct and I have received 1 NOA for I-765 already. Anyway I called USCIS and they couldn't tell me why it was undelivered and said they would request the service center to resend the mail.

My problem is they said it would take an extra 15 - 30 days and if I don't received anything after the 30 days to give them a call back. What if the post office screw up again? Do I just keep waiting? Our post office is unreliable at times and I am worried that this will have a major impact on my case.

Has anyone got any advice for me? USCIS wasn't so helpful.

  4. Follow the guide at the following link: http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide2

Overstay shouldn't be a problem. If you have been working illegally during this time that should be forgiven with marriage to a USC. You may however be responsible for back taxes if that applies to you. About the only thing that would cause you problems is if you've ever claimed to be a US citizen on any forms such as a job application or tax forms. That is considered a pretty big no no.

I have been a stay at home Dad so I never worked illegally. Thanks for the help!!

  5. I overstayed on the VWP. I have been married to a US Citizen for the past 9 years and we have a 6 year old daughter. I want to finally apply for a green card. I know I should have done this a long time ago but we couldn't find a sponsor and my wife never made enough to do it herself. This has been a real struggle for us but we are finally in a position to get this done.

What forms do I need to file? Do I need to file for I-130 and EAD?

    Any help would be appreciated.

  6. Hi all, Just wanted some advice we are planning to move to sunny Florida soon (in the next few months) or sooner and I have all the forms needed for immigration but I'm not sure If its best to leave it until we actually move to apply or just apply the now then move then contact the immigration office to change our address. I currently cannot get a bank account here in Indiana as they all want social security number or something else which I don't have, also the apartment complex we live at now won't allow my name on the lease as they couldn't check my criminal record etc. And I know that it would make the interview with the immigration officer alot easier If I did have these following things in a joint name with my wife and I probably can put my name on the lease when we find a place in Florida and I'm sure there are other banks down that way that will allow me to be on a joint bank account with the wife.

So should I wait until we move and get my name on a lease and joint bank account etc then apply or should I just apply the now then get all them things sorted out, I'm not sure how the change of address process goes.

  7. I moved here about 2 years ago from Scotland and got married to my wife (US Citizen). Been married for 2 years. I currently have no status (immigration wise) So I have not done anything with immigration yet due to the cost of it all. I was going to file the papers at the end of next month. Yesterday my wife told me she was pregnant so does this change anything? What forms do I need to file? I have tried to find answers in the forums but no luck lol please help much appreciated thanks.

  8. St Andrews day!!! yay It actually slipped my mind lol So what part of Scotland are we all from Im lived in Fife all my life stupid lil town called Lochgelly :( and I'm a Ranger FC fan ofcourse woohoo. I wonder whats going on in Eastenders and Coronation Street hmmm TV aint the same over here !!

  9. Hey , I understand that there are certain documents I need to take when I go for my interview but what I dont understand is they ask for proof of joint bank accounts proof If im on my wifes medical insurance or car insurance, life insurance .. ... .. but all these require me to have a social security number which I dont have due to the fact Ive not applied for residency yet so the only thing I can take is proof that my name is on the lease for the apartment we live at I don't even think my name can go on any utility bills until I have a SSN. Does anyone know anything on this matter?

I don't know much about overstays, but someone for sure will help you out. What kind of visa are you in right now? Visa Waiver? Whichever it is, welcome to VJ!!!!!

Hey, I came over on the visa waiver program which allowed me to stay for 3 months right now I have no visa or anything. My wife and I did plan to file the forms on the first year I came over but things never went to plan and then the fees increased :( I was just worried and didnt know If I would get into trouble for staying here past the 3 months. Immigration should have some kind of loan system or allow to pay these fees in installments lol How great would that be!

  11. Overstaying a visa is not a bar to adjustment of status based on marriage, so that shouldn't give you any problems. Best not to leave the U.S. before your green card is approved, however. The fact that you've been married for two years won't make the process go faster, but it will mean that you won't have to lift conditions in two years.

You'll be filing based on your marriage to a USC. Check out the guides here: you'll need to file an I-130 and the usual I-485, I-765, I-131 package.

Cool thanks for the info ! :)

  12. What I miss the most is IRN-BRU I loved that stuff. I live in Indiana and theres a store kinda like Walmart called Meijer they have a British section the sell lots of cool yummy stuff from Britain not sure but they may sell lemsip too If theres ne close to you go there and check it out ..Its a lil expensive though $5.00 for a 1 litre of Lucozade LoL :)

  13. Hello everyone :o) My story is I moved to America from Scotland 2 years ago I got married within the first year to a us citizen anyways we have not been able to afford the immigration fees but we will finally have the money at the end of Feb next year. I worried that because ive been here for so long without filing any immigration forms etc that I may get into trouble or it may effect there decision. I am applying for residency first am I right in thinking this takes about 3 months? After I become a resident do I need to apply for anything else?

Oh and 1 more thing does the fact Ive been married for about 2 years count for anything towards the length of time I need to wait or does it start from the date I apply?

Any info will be greatly appreciated this so glad I found this website :)
