  1. hi everyone!

i just wanted to make a poll for everyone to see that there is really a possibility of having tourist visa approved even if you have relatives in the US.

so for those of you out there, whether it's your personal experience or from people that you know. please share them here. specially to those who are married to US pemanent residents. if you have an experience of getting APPROVED of a tourist visa even with an existing immigrant petition, it's worth knowing for the others who want to try.

let's give hope to those who are losing the courage to try.

reuniting families is a beautiful thing especially when your intentions are true.

  2. hi mus and umma!

now there are three of us in the same boat.

it's really frustrating having this long wait but i for now, we have no choice but to be patient and do a little more sacrifice.

as for me, even if my chances are slim, im going to try and apply for a tourist visa.

it wont hurt to try right? if i get one, i'll let you guys know.

mus, what did you mean by some people giving up their LPR status and switching to H or L visa. can you please tell me more about it? maybe it could work for me and my husband.

thanks guys for sharing! it's relieving to know there are people out there who are also in the same situation.

    let's keep each other posted.

  3. hi everyone!

i'll make the story short...me and my son are in the philippines with no tourist visa. my husband is a US permanent resident. my mother has a 10 year multiple entry visa to the US

i have scheduled for a tourist visa interview for my son (3 years old) because I want my mother to bring him to the US when she visits my in-laws there. the reason i stated in the aplication form is grandmother wil bring my son to the US to visit relatives.

would there be any conflict there? because some people are telling us that maybe the consul would cancel my mother's multiple entry visa when they see that we are trying to bring my son there (they say they might think we are trying to bring him there to leave him permanently)

in reality, since it's almost impossible for me to get a tourist visa (since my husband is an LPR), my mother is the only way I could have someone bring my son there to visit (since my in-laws who are US citizens haven't seen my son since he was born)

and is it really hard to get a tourist visa for such a young child (3 years old)

    what do you guys suggest?

anyone with a related experience? thanks!

  4. hi everyone!

i hope someone could provide us information regarding follow to join benefits for an LPR who married before he got his immigrant visa.

if there's anyone with an experience about this type of visa application, it would really be a great help not only for me but for all the others who have the same situation but are not aware that they have this option.

the only confusion for me and my husband is that initially he got his immigrant visa more than 10 years ago because of a US immigrant step father. but 4 years ago, he lost his immigrant status because of overstaying in the philippines and expiration of his green card. he was lucky to be granted a new immigrant visa status and a new alien number with that.

we are not sure if we could qualify under the category of follo-to-join benefits since the criteria is quite vague.

so please if there's anyone with experience or knowledge on this one..let us know.

    thanks guys!

  5. im a permanent resident... can i invite my wife and 2 kids to visit me here? what would they need from my wife basically? and also from me? is it possible?

we have the same situation. only i am the wife of a permanent resident and we have a son who stays with me here in pinas.

i can tell you based from experience that it's very difficult! i have applied 2x already and both times i got denied. on both visa interviews they told me that the strongest tie i have is with my husband and so there is a good chance i wont go back home to phil even if i leave my son behind. it sucks really especially if you have good intentions of just visiting.

my husband comes to visit us here in pinas every 4-6 months but he could only stay for 2 weeks at a time and of course that's always bitin and it hurts to keep on waiting til we have the chance to really go to the us as immigrants. (it will take 5 years for us)

but there is still no harm in trying. minsan swertihan lang yan. my last try was in feb 2006. i will be trying again next year since a lot has changed in my situation. i already have my own business and a stable job on top of that. i'll just try my luck and hope that it works.

if ever your wife is going to give it a shot..make sure she has the proper documents to prove that she has a good job and other properties that would make her return to the philippines.

goodluck to you and your family! im sure you can't wait to be together.

if you want to know more details, feel free to email me at lai_m16@yahoo.com

nothing better than to have someone with the same situation and helping each other...

  6. Mabuhay!..

I am married to an LPR and thinking if I could file for B2 Visa to visit him in the United States.

Does anyone here encountered approval for a tourist visa in the US Embassy in the Philippines while there's a pending immigrant petition (I-130)?

How can I prove them that I have ties in the Philippines and have no immigrant intent FOR NOW.. I just want to visit my husband there and wants to buy a wedding gown for our church wedding... soON :) but no definite date yet...

    Thanks a lot.. :goofy:

    :help:

hi there! i am glad i found you in this forum because we have a very similar situation. i am also the wife of a US LPR and i also want to have the option to visit him now even if i dont want to live there yet. i am also awaiting for my immigrant petition that was filed by my husband last feb 2006.

im telling you now it's very difficult to get a tourist visa. i have tried twice already in the philippine embassy and both times i got denied even if i showed sufficient ties to the philippines. but still, it's a case to case basis and i think swertihan lang din yan. it's true what is 100 dollars if that's a chance to get a tourist visa and get to spend more time with your husband.

i will be trying my luck again next year for a tourist visa since my situation has changed a lot since the last time i applied. i already have my own busuiness here in pinas plus i also have a stable job.

if you want we could email each other the more personal details and i could help you go through your tourist visa application. i know how it feels to be helpless specially if you have really good intentions of just visiting. but it's really hard to prove that to the consuls in the embassy.

here's my email: lai_m16@yahoo.com hope to hear from you!
