  1. My husband and I have a very simple theory:

If you feel that you have to lie/hide/or be secretive about chatting online or communicating with someone of the opposite sex; then it obviously means that (a) you know it is an inappropriate relationship and could be construed as cheating in some way, (B) you should desist from it as it could lead to more (why else would one not be honest about it in the first place) and © if you're unsure, put yourself in your partners shoes as to how you would feel if you found your partner in such a situation.

  2. Hi All,

Has anyone experienced having their EAD application being sent for special review and what this means??

I wrote to our congressman and when I called to find out what was going on, they told me that when they called they were told that the case had been sent for special review?? #######???

    Any info is appreciated.

  3. Hi I was just wondering who was the longest time to receive their EAD and AP. I filed for my parents I-485, I-765 and I-131 on 11/6. NOA has a receipt date of 11/7 and notice date of 11/14. If we go by the receipt date it has been 71 days since filing. The last touch for AP was 11/27 and EAD and AOS was on 12/14.. They did their biometrics on 12/3. However, dad receive another notice asking him to go for another biometric since fbi couldnt read his first biometric. The initial appointment was on 1/4/08 but we went early on 12/19. Til now I havent receive anything. I am getting worry as most of the november filers have receive their EAD/AP. I was guessing probably we are the unlucky one who will have to wait the longest time to receive the EAD/AP.

Don't worry ... it will come... I filed for mine at the end of July to beat the fee increase and I'm still waiting.

  4. Hi There,

I'm still in the same process as you are. We had an infopass appointment with the las vegas office and they told us there was a hold put on our account and he can't figure out why because they completed the biometrics and the background check. After dropping a few "f-bombs" on the USCIS guy who told me on Monday that it would be 2-4 months more for my EAD, my husband and I decided to get our congressman involved. I'm not sure how much it will help but it has to be better than calling the national phone line and being told that they is nothing they can do.

I'm not sure if they just don't want people in vegas to work, or if they are screwing over the people who filed right before the fee increase deadline. I am seeing people's timelines who filed in October and are approved. So much for them doing them in order of the date they recieved it.

When I called USCIS at the begiining of December, about a week after my infopass appointment, they told me if I wasn't approved by January 7th, that they would issue an immediate temporary EAD. I'm not holding my breath. I guess the government doesn't realize how important it is for people to be employed.

    Hi lgoodale,

I guess they must have come to Vegas and lost some money or had a terrible time that's why they're being so crappy to people from Vegas... When I last called USCIS (on Dec 24), they put in a request for expedited service and gave me a refernce number. My husband and I are also going to try and get our congressman involved, hopefully it does something ... or at very least light a fire under their bottoms at USCIS.

My husband is so aggravated, that he says he's going to write to the govenor :yes:

  5. Thanks for the response...

I went for an Infopass on Dec 18th and they don't me that that office does not issue EADs / temp EADs and I'd have to wait and call the 1800 #.

What is your adjustment of status based on, for example, did you come in on a K1, etc? This sounds horrible, I hope that something can be done about it soon.

Sorry, I looked back on your old posts and answered my own question. Have you got AP yet? Is the F1 status and overstay a problem did the USCIS say?

We didn't apply for AP and they haven't said anything, that's whats got us so fustrated... nobody seems to know anything and we keep getting the run around and being told to either call or come back at a later time or just told to plain wait, yet nobody is telling us anything.

  6. Hi All,

Ok so here is th story:

My EAD is long overdue ... we sent in the application at the end of July (AOS - I130, I485 and I765). The receipt date on my NOA is July 31 2007, however it seems that they are using the date on the NOA which is September 5 2007. Anyway that isn't even the problem. Anyway you look at it, it is over the said 90 days. I made an infopass appointment (I live in Vegas by the way) and they said there was nothing they could do and I should call the 1800 number. So I went home and did that and they put in a service request. Anyway today I got a letter that states:

"The status of this service request is:

Based on your request we researched the status of this case. We are actively processing this case. However, we have to perform additional review on this case and this has caused a loinger processing timre. If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from us within 6 months of this letter, please call customer service at the number provided below."

Has anyone ever gotten this type of letter before? And is there anything I can do but wait? My CRIS hasn't been updated since September 5th.

    Thanks for all responses.

  7. Hi All,

My EAD seems to be taking ridiculously long and every time we call the 1800 number we get a different story and are told to call back after 2 weeks.

So we wanted to find out if contacting your congressman does help.

Also with the time to file for taxes coming up, do I have to have a social security number for my husband to claim me as a dependant on his taxes?

Thanks in advance for all responses.

  8. Hi All,

We mailed our AOS application (I130, I485, I765 with all the mountains of evidence) to Chicago at the end of July to beat the fee increase and it was received there on July 31st. Our NOAs for all of theem are dated September 5th, and biometrics for I485 and I765 was on September 25th.

Now here is the problem. Since then we haven't heard anything from USCIS and when we check the case status online the last date is SEptember 5th. We've called the 1800 number twice and they keep saying give them more time. We went online to try and make an infopass appointment but it seems that they are not available here (we live in Las Vegas).

Should the EAD take this long?? And any advice as to what I can do, if anything.

    Thanks for any response.

  9. Hi All,

I'm new here so a little baqckground: I came to the US on an F1 visa and overstayed, and am now married to a USC and adjusting my status. We filed our AOS at the end of July to beat the fee increase and I know we're going to get an RFE for my birth certificate. So here is problem. I was born in Ghana but am a South African citizen and don't know where my birth certificate is. Now I called the Ghana consulate in New York and they were basically very unhelpful and said I would have to actually physically go to Ghana to apply for a copy of my birth certificate, is this true?? Or is there a way for me to acquire it, because I'm an overstay if I leave the country I'm liable to be subject to the 10 year ban.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
