  1. Fabulous, congratulations to you as well!

Thanks for the tip, I will definitely ring them on Friday. I wasn't expecting this at all... I just received the email half an hour ago + am now on top of the world!

Here's hoping everything else goes as smoothly for us both..... :) CC.

  2. Happiness!

Thank you so, so much ~Laura and Nick~ + dannyrmartin1 for getting back to me so quickly. How wonderful to have such a wealth of knowledge + experience to tap in to! It really is so appreciated.

I suppose our case is very straightforward - no children, past marriages or criminal issues, lots of evidence, etc. Also from what I have read it seems that we are very lucky to deal with Vermont/Vancouver. We were preparing ourselves for the worst I suppose... what a gorgeous surprise!

I wish everyone else much luck + love.. thank you again!

  3. Hello lovely Canadians,

I've read so many posts of people waiting ages + ages to hear back on their cases... very lengthy processing times, not hearing anything back at all, etc.

We filed in late December. VSC received our application on December 31 + we received our NOA1 in mid-January. I signed up for the email updates for our case + received today:

    Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On March 5, 2008, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E).

I believe this is the NOA2. Does this mean we're really approved? From the K1 process flowchart my understanding is our case goes to NVC + then on to the embassy here in Vancouver... which looks to be fairly quick?

We were preparing ourselves for a massive wait... obviously there is still much to be done before the interview, but how long does it typically take from here on in? I'm worried as it seems too good to be true...

Any support + advice is appreciated... merci!

  4. hi lovelies,

i couldn't resist replying... i may be a visa rookie, but i know fashion. toes showing means nothing over them... get a pedi + flash those darling little piggies!

nylons are a bit outdated... unless it's for work. no one wears them to dress-up events anymore. if you must wear them, just make sure they match your skin - no awful orange/brown/shimmery legs for you, gorgeous!

  5. Hi there,

    Sorry, another newbie question.

My fiancé is living in the Northwest but moving to Jacksonville, FL in March. His parents live in Daytona so we want to have everything sent to them in the meanwhile, so correspondence isn't lost in his move.

How should I indicate that? On the forms I'd like to put their address as his, but we obviously can't claim that as his residence. Is there somewhere to show a different mailing address that I missed, or should I include an attachment? I don't want to delay any longer to file until he moves... I'm ready to lick the stamp!

    Any advice please? Thanks everyone!

  6. Hi everyone,

Firstly thanks to all who contribute to the site - it is unquestionably the most detailed, helpful info available. We're just beginning the journey and it's comforting to see everyone else who have been successful... and continue to support those going through it.

A question; I hope I'm not putting this in the wrong section or missed something in the guides... :innocent:

Our families are thrilled that we're engaged and looking forward to a big wedding. However, my understanding is that no plans should be made until Visa is in-hand... and we must get married within 90 days of my arrival. I also want to start working as soon as possible so must file for AOS/EAD straight away.

If we do a civil ceremony just the two of us and have my name changed (taking his) on the marriage certificate, can I still go by my maiden name until after the proper wedding? I plan to apply for my AOS/EAD/AP, SSN, drivers license etc in my maiden name (which will match my passport)... then change everything using our marriage certificate later?

Is that dodgy? I suppose we'll just have to explain to the minister at our proper wedding that we have a license from ages earlier? Can anyone think of any holes in this plan?

    Thanks all!
