  1. I have a question about visa to mainland China so please move thread if it doesn't belong here.😌

I am a Hong Kong citizen married to a USC and currently residing in the US. We visit HK and mainland China often since I have relatives there as well.

We had always applied for the visa to China in HK for my husband and 2 children with no problems before until last time(2015) we got rejected at the China consulate in HK with basically no reason given. So now I kind of don't know what to do.

We are considering applying at the China Consulate in Chicago but would like to know if anyone has had experience applying for one on your own, without agent. If we apply through an agent it costs about 3-4 times more than the visa itself. Any advice/experience will be much appreciated. Thanks.

  2. Just because you come from a "poor country" doesn't mean that you should just be so much happier to move to the USA. You were born in that country, you grew up there, you had your childhood memories there, it's where all your friends and family are. Just because you don't have a better lifestyle than some people in other richer countries don't mean you can't be happy. On the other hand, I still find a lot of people ignorant to not know that so many "poor countries" are actually developing so fast and becoming stronger and stronger.

I decided to give up everything back home and move here, all because of my husband. Do I love living here? NO. Do I hate it here? NO. I don't get depressed just because I don't love it here. I just have to say there is nowhere like home. HOME is not necessarily where you are living in, it's where you feel that you heart is at. To me personally even if I decide to be naturalized to become a US citizen one day, I still can't call myself an American. I just can't. That's not where my heart is. I was born a Chinese and I will forever be a Chinese.

  3. Thank you for your helpful responses!(Except a couple ones...lol)

The other thing is that I'm also worried about the air pressure on the plane...I remember one time when the plane was about to land the pressure on the plane was so high I thought my ear drums were about to break..I heard that you should give them something to eat or to drink but I wonder if that really helps.

  4. My husband and I have decided to fly back to my homeland Hong Kong China with our then will be 10month old daughter in Feb. We are flying with Korean Air, we read the reviews they seem to be a good airline. As February is approaching I'm just getting more concerned about flying with an infant, especially on a long flight(about 14 hours). Anybody has any experience on that and what would be your advice?

The airline is going to provide baby formula and baby food, but I plan to bring some of my own just in case my baby doesn't like their food. We'll have one lay-over in Korea so I do plan to take an umbrella stroller with me also, just so that I don't have to carry her the whole time while we're running all over the airport.

If anyone out here has done that before and can share your story, that would be great!

    Thank you!

    Carol

  5. I'm currently pregnant and will be having my baby around the end of April. I really would love my mom to be here with me and her newborn grandchild.

The situation is, my mom knows absolutely no English what-so-ever, and I would be really worried when she has to change flight or go through the security at the airport by herself. We thought of a couple ideas..I can convince my friends to come see me and the baby so that my mom can fly here with them. But I want my mom to be here for a month or two and all my friends have full time jobs so they can only stay here for a couple weeks and I don't really want my mom to fly back home by herself. So I don't know if this will really work out. I've heard that I can hire someone from a traveling agency who can guide my mom when she arrives at the US airport but I don't know anyone who has done this so I don't know how that will work out.

Anybody who has had the same situation/any advice?

  6. I also had some horrible experience with United last year when I flew back home to see my family. They lost my luggage, and I had to take out $25 out of my own pocket to take a ferry back home myself from the airport where the plane was stuck at. I didn't lose much money at all so I didn't write a complain or anything---I was happy enough to finally get to reunite with my family again. I have to say though, is that I will NEVER fly with them again. The thing is that, when there are problems, they don't even try to take care of their customers, or they would make promises, make you wait for 6 hours, and then tell you there's nothing they can do.

I definitely agree with some of the posters here..write a letter of complain to someone that has a very high position in that airline complany. I don't know about airline companies, but working in the retails industries, my boss always makes sure he can do whatever it takes to make his customers happy.

I totally understand how you feel...It never hurts to try and I hope you will get something out of it!

  7. I filed I-751 early last year and they had sent me an NOA(I-797) stating that my conditional status is extended for a year from date of expiration on my green card. So almost a year has passed and I have a month left now, how can I get another extension since my case is still pending(with Nebraska Service Center)? I've called their customer service and I couldn't find any information regarding extension of a conditional status whatsoever. Anybody experienced this?

  8. My mom has sent me some paper work regarding House Property Transfer from Hong Kong that need to be signed by me and notarized by the Chinese Embassy in the US. Once I got onto their website, I found out that in order to have them notarize my papers, I first have to get them notarized by the notary public and then the secretary of state. To get them notarized by the notary public is the easy part but how can I get them notarized by the secretary of state? Is it something that can be done at the local court house?

  9. It irritates the hell out of me when there are kids in the store screaming, bouncing balls, making big messes in the asiles (I've even seen kinds playing baseball in there) and the parents wouldn't do nothing about it...They really don't give a sh!t...

One time I saw a lady walking in with two of her boys. The lady was waiting at the photos department for her pictures and her boys were let loose playing around the store. The boys had squirt guns with them and I overheard them saying that they are going to the restroom filling up their squirt guns and squirt at people. I went and told that lady and she freaking told me that they were not her sons...and that her sons were outside in the car..sure I believe that..Luckily the boys didn't squirt at anybody and of course I saw them leaving the store all together.

  10. This is really not uncommon...they'll have to prove that they have sufficient strong ties to their home country in order to get a tourist visa..being in your wife's situation, she has low income, and she's married to an American, they probably think that she just wants to stay in the US with you and not coming back.

Don't know what else to tell ya~~ Just be patient!!

  11. The OP said earlier she didn't trust him. She confronts him & accepts his apology. Now she doubts it & confrotns the girl! :help:

I said I was feeling a little better now but still there's a small part of it I don't believe...SO I still had doubt...

  12. Of course he denied it and instead he thinks I'm being stupid for even asking him those questions.

But what really bugs me is he was going to call her. And she left comments asking him for his work schedule so she can find a good time to call him and get a hold of him.

  13. Thank you very much for asking...I just got home from work so that's why I was away for a while.

Yes I did confront him in much peaceful way as I could. Nothing crazy happened. He was already home when I got home from work...I went and gave him a hug and kiss..and here is briefly what our conversation was about:

    Me: Do you love me?

    Him: Of course!

Me: Am I the only woman in your world? No body else?

Him: Of course! What are you talking about?

Me: Then who was that girl named Trina you were hanging out with when I was in HK?

Him: Oh that was Jeron's girlfriend! Jeron, his girlfriend, and Ian came over to my dad's house that weekend and they all spent a night at my dad's house! You can ask my dad if you don't believe it!

Me: Why did Trina have to be there?

Him: Because that's who Jeron was with!

And now he thinks I'm being weird.

So I suppose that person that he was talking with was actually Jeron??

I'm feeling a little better now but still there's a small part of it I don't believe...

Thank you so much for you guys concerns I hope I can really sort this out as time goes on...

  14. This morning b4 I go to work I got on the computer and my husband's MSN was signed on. I saw there were a few new emails in his mailbox so I got curious and opened them(I know that's wrong...)...and I happened to find out that he has a MySpace Account, and that he's been talking to this girl named Trina and he was telling her about how much fun he had with her on the past weekend(and the date on that mail was during me being in Hong Kong visiting my family)...and he also said that he would have to go see her again...he was asking her for her phone number so he could call her....

I know I was wrong for "peeking" at his mails but now I found this out I don't even know if I should be worried...I really dunno what to do...should I even confront him because he has a really bad temper problem I can't even tell him anything he will go nuts...

I really dunno what to do!!!

  15. Oh I am really really sorry to hear that. :crying: I have 4 cats and I love them all to death I cannot imagaine my life without them...

Vicky is leaving with dignity and hopefully she will leave without pain.
