  1. Hello John,

Our interview is coming up as well (Boston on the 31st at 9:00am) and my wife (USC) barely makes the poverty guideline, she is doing her PHd at the moment. So I put my uncle as a co-sponsor. He provided all the necessary paperwork. I am thinking it should be fine if you have a co-sponsor who is a legitimate one and can support both of you. And if they haven't asked for any other supporting documents by now they probably understand the situation. Well that's the hope anyways-

    Best of luck

Thanks for responding. We thought that also that if they wanted or needed something then we would of received an RFE for it. I think we are probably just becoming paranoid and hopefully it will be no big deal.

  2. did your parents co-sponsor with you? if not then maybe filling out the form and getting their information together to take with you to the interview and if it comes up during the interview then explain the situation...

Just my opinion...if someone else has "better" advice PLEASE feel free to jum in...

My parents both did Household Member Contracts and submitted paystubs, employment letters, and tax information for the last 3 years.

  3. I haven't posted in awhile. We have our AOS Interview coming up and I (USC) and my Wife (Immigrant) are both unemployed. We are living with my parents till we get going, and they did household member contracts for the Affidavit of Support back when we initially filed. Their joint income is WAY above the poverty line for house hold of 4. Now we have received the AOS letter and our interview is coming.

We have been looking but it has been hard to find work.

We do have joint accounts and even joint credit cards, but we do not currently have jobs.

How badly will this effect our interview?

  4. How did spouse enter the USA? K-1, K-3, other visa?

You neglected to fill in your profile details and timeline before posting the question.

Without these details it is hard to give you a good answer.

    Profile details: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...rCP&CODE=01

Will update the timeline... Adjusting off of the Visa Waiver Program..

  5. I have several questions about the AOS process so I am just going to throw it all out there. Any advice, help, links are GREATLY appreciated.

    Regarding the Medical:

Do you just go to a civil surgeon and request the medical exam or is that something that is setup for you? Are the medical results get submitted with the AOS Packet?

    Now the Affidavit of Support..

I havent filed taxes in the last 3 years. However, I have been claimed on my parent's tax returns (which explains why I havent filed). My father makes well over the 125% poverty line and we are living with him. He will gladly be a co-sponsor. My question is... I know I must still file an Affidavit of Support since I am the petitioner, but will the fact that I have no tax returns hurt me even if I have a co-sponsor? Outside of my Affidavit, my father fills out one as well?

Last question.. If the AOS is for a Mother and Child (13), is only 1 Affidavit needed or should there be one filled out for both of them?

I know I have alot of questions and I appreciate anyone who takes the time to read this. :) THANKS

  6. WOW! Thanks everyone for the replies. It was all very helpful.

One last question if someone happens to check back...

When you enter on the Visa Waiver Program is it always permission for a period of 90 days?

Or if you say you are returning home in 10 days, you only get 10 days?

Been reading up on the VWP and it seems they grant you entry for 90 days usually. (If you get in of course)

So is it possible to stay longer once allowed in just as long as you dont overstay the 90 days?

Just trying to figure all of this out... :)

    Thanks again!

  7. First off, I dont know if this is the right forum for my question. If it is wrong, I apologize in advance.

My g/f will be traveling from the UK to visit me here in the US in January.

I keep finding references to "proving ties" to the UK.

What exactly does she need to bring that would help her "prove ties" if its needed?

She will be staying for only 2 weeks and will have her return ticket.

Also, I would like for her to be able to travel back in March or April. Would two entries in that time frame cause an issue? She will be entering both times on the Visa Waiver Program. Second visit would also be for 10 to 14 days.

I appreciate anyone who takes the time to read this or reply with advice. Thanks in advance.

    Happy Holiday! :)

  8. I am confused with the Affidavit of Support. Is there a way for family members in the same household to help meet the income level requirements? Are they co sponsors? or do they fall under another category all together?

My only concern so far on what I have read in the K-1 process is this Affidavit of support. I have lived at home and been attending school locally. My parents are more than willing to help me with this process, but due to me being in school, my income has been non existent. Is there a way to use my parents income and their assets to meet the income requirements? I am currently seeking full time employment but obviously wont have a W2 until later on.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. I had no idea immigrating my girlfriend from the UK to here for marriage would be so hard. :(
