Hey girl! I've chosen the same wedding date as you. Isn't that funny? But unfortunately my interview is later than yours. Hopefully we'll both have great news!

    Good luck!!

This is all the more reason to celebrate!!! Thanks for sharing!!! :D

Good luck on the upcoming interview!

P.S. July 26th is Liberia's Independence Day..it looks like a lot of partying will be going on with two weddings and a whole country celebrating, lol.

  4. Hey everyone!!!! I haven't been on VJ for many months, but I want to come on and see everyone's progress on here.... Sooo exciting, many of you either have your visa already or are about to get it!!!! Yipppppeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, Here is our update.... Lucky (my fiance) has had his medicals, obtained police reports both from ghana where he currently resides and from Nigeria from which is his home country, and he has obtained (finally!) his ghana residence permit so he can legitimately come to the US from ghana rather than Nigeria.... all is done including all the afidavits of support which both I and my dear father sent via DHL today!!!!

Now Lucky is simply awaiting the interview date which is in 11 days, I cant believe we are finally this close!!! It is a surreal feeeling.... I can't even imagine the feeling once the actual visa is issued....

Our wedding date is all set and official... July 26th... soooo exciting!!!! :D

Please keep us in your prayers as I will keep you all in mine... we are in this together my friends!!!

Good Luck and Go with God!!!!

    <3 One Love,

    Stephanie

  5. Hey guys,

I haven't booked Lucky's flight yet, but I did call delta and ask them how to do it... they said I can purchase a ticket here online or over the phone with a delta agent as I dont think delta allows us to purchase tickets FROM overseas (at least west africa) online... so how they said to do it would be to call the delta agent and ask them to book it and they would send a electronic ticket to email so I could then forward the email/electronic ticket to my fiance and he would print it out and have it. they did say though that if I use a credit card to purchase his ticket, I need to come to any airport delta counter just to show my ID so they have a confirmation in person that the ticket was not purchased using a stolen credit card... makes sense with lots of fraud going on these days..... thats it, and once I show id then the ticket is his and he just has to show his id and visa/passport and he's good to go!!!!

Hope this helps!! oh and I know delta does non-stop flights from Accra to NYC so that is super nice as there is no need for a transit visa that way!!!

    Regards,

    Steph

  6. I know I'm going a little crazy with this post here tonight but..... this place is beautiful and can rent an entire cottage with full kitchen etc for 125/night, a king size bed and motel like room with king for 110/night... .maybe a little more within some of our ehm.... my.. budget......

    haha.....

    check it out!!!

    http://www.2fla.com/rates.htm

haha... I believe the "grand opening special" is $349 USD per night...... hmmm... ya....... pricey.... but open door to room and walk onto beach..... nice!

actually, scratch that. Look at THIS.....

    http://www.parrotkeyresort.com/

I went through the pictures and the place is gorgeous! I dare not ask about the prices.

  7. oooh of course!!!

I am thinking maybe we will just do key west..... since it is still on the mainland and seems to be inexpensive... plus closer to us on the east coast ;)

not sure though, because so far the search online at least has not brought up too many exciting photos of possible places to stay...... especially after getting heart set on SANDALS in antigua or st. lucia.......

    Any other ideas?? :)

  8. oooooh.... hawaii is sounding better and better by the moment......................

Just the most expensive idea for my situation, as we do live on the East Coast of the US.... so hawaii is farrrrrrrrrrr away!!!

But I have read other posts suggesting that although we can TECHNICALLY go to the US virgin islands with our new spouse, it may be difficult if we encounter a jerk in immigration, to come back to the mainland................. not sure about puerto rico..... I would stick with hawaii or somewhere on the mainland for my own opinion.... though I would much rather go to the caribbean islands..... I just dont want any chance of getting denied back in the mainland after all we have and will be going through to get my Man over here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :innocent:

Awesome discussion though, let's keep this one going!!!!

  9. hmmm.... does anyone know what the guidelines are for our dear fiances who have visa to stay and marry us within 90 days in the US as far as honeymoons go???

Once we marry, can we both travel to the Islands even if not US Virgin Islands???

What are the risks if any???

    Anyone???

  10. Hey VJ!!!

I just wanted to update my case...

Lucky went to the consolute in Accra and picked up pacets 3 and 4 yesterday....

His interview date is set for June 16th.....

... oh.. and I bought my WEDDING DRESS this week!!!! Sooooooo exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    How is everyone?????

Congratulations on getting an interview date! Send a pic of the wedding dress. Inquiring minds want to see....

    Thanks ladies!!!

haha... you want to see a pic of the dress or the dress on ME??? :P

hee hee.... sooooo exciting!!! I just need to figure out how to pay for it now AND the rest of the wedding AND honeymoon.....

Lucky is sooo stressed we will be in debt, but I keep stressing "This is the day every woman DREAMS about!!!" So he will let me have my day!!!

  11. Hey VJ!!!

    How is everyone?????

  12. haha.... yep! I got a job!! finally!!! I sell cars at a very large fortune 500 company.... I am happy about it!! I just started last monday and I'm still in paid training, but I get to set up my very own desk tomorrow (monday)!!! Soooo exciting, my first desk ever of my very own!!!!

Not planning on doing anything to jeopardize this one girl ;) .... but if I can, I may take a week off and be with my boo so we can fly together to America <3

HOWEVER..... I may also not do that because we'd rather have a week or 2 off for our WEDDING/HONEYMOON!!!!!! Better to do that than just go to ghana for interview, etc, in both mine and Lucky's opinion!! ;)

I am still so happy for you though darling!!!!! :) I hope we both get our men interviews asap!!!!!! Have you tried contacting your congressman yet?? Or have you decided not to do that? I'm just curious...... would be cool if they came on the same plane!!!!! :D

  13. I need to know if my fiance can work once he arrives in the US!!!?????

I realize if he comes here on a fiance k1 visa, he prob can't attend college.... I think until he gets his greencard which is 2 yrs after marriage if I recall correctly (but pls correct me if I'm wrong on that too).....

Can our SO's work once they arrive in the STates??????? If so, what kind of paperwork do we need to have filled out in order for him to work? And how soon after his arriving to the States on a k1 fiance visa can he work legally???? :)

Thanks so much!!!! We've been dying to know this for months now!!! Now that it is getting down to the wire and he will be coming in the next couple months hopefully, it's time to find out the truth of the matter here!!! ;)

    Thanks!!!!

    Steph

  14. Oh Zee!!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sooo thrilled for you!!!! Now we wait together..... for the lovely ghanaians that work at the consolute!!

Should be the next few weeks according to them... that your hubby receives his letter to come pick up the package... but by "few weeks" they mean something different in ghana than my own understanding of the term. ;)

But anyway, great news!!! Hope the next process speeds by for you!!!!!

    xoxo

  15. Some states have congressmen and senators that help and some states have horrible ones!!!!

That should not mean that we lose our FREEDOM as individuals to ask for assistance for those in place in our government specifically for things we need assistance with such as immigration like this!!!!

I am in support of ANYONE contacting their senators, congressman or anyone else to get their SO to them faster.......... if we all do it, we should all get them here faster!!! Don't be upset or angry at those who take the time and energy to ask for assistance from their senators or congressman just because you didn't!!!!

Let's just keep it real.... this process sucks for EVERYONE..... but life is not always fair and if we are bitter towards those who ask for extra help ... and then get it... that does not make us any better of a person just because we choose to sit back and WAIT til our case is called upon in the natural order of things................

To each his/her own..... it's our perogative if we choose to contact those in power for our case and it's your same right!!!

If you want help too, then you should consider calling your senator!!! ;)

    ~Peace~
