  1. My wife arrives tomorrow! Finally... 4 days before our first anniversary. We have been apart nearly 1 year. We only spent 2 weeks together as a married couple in the Philippines after our wedding. And now we can continue our honeymoon. :dancing:

  2. You get a stamp in the passport that acts as a temp card until the physical one arrives..

How did you answer the DS-230 Part II question regarding SSN?

We answered that we want a SSN.

Understand what you answered.... you answered the question that you want a SSN issued automatically.....

    Thanks, that was easy.

I guess its down hill from here.

We just have to survive the economy...

  3. Okay, this may be a dumb question. My wife arrives soon on a CR1 visa.

    What is next?

What do we do to get a SSN?

Do we really get a green card when she gets here?

    :blink::blush:

If she checked the DS 230 for a SSN she'll get both the 2 year GC and a SS card in the mail shortly after arrival.

    Wow...That is awesome!

    Thanks

    It sounds too easy...

  4. It is cheaper to use a travel agent rather that online sites like expedia. Its even more expensive going direct to the airline. Agents get some sort of bulk rate and the can pass the savings if they want. Try to bargain and its best if they are a friend or you are referred. We paid $661 non-stop MNL to LAX. Its possible to get a better price if you book ahead and it depends on the season.

  5. Doing it online is not the cheapest way to go. But if you must, expedia.com is reliable. It is best to call their customer service and explain what you are doing. It is cheaper to get a ticket from a travel agent you know. I just bought a last minute ticket for $661. It is possible to get a better price that that if you buy further in advanced.

  6. 2 Years ago I went to the Philippines and my mom in the states called me and asked me to buy a Parol. I think that is what it is called. Anyway, its made of capis shell and Christmas lights and it was big, about 4 feet in diameter. What can be more fragile than that... I put it in a regular cardboard box and the "airline" placed a fragile sticker on it. And I prayed. When I got to LAX it was intact. Your dress will make it. Just have the airline place their fragile sticker on it and pray.

  7. Hello! I just want to brought up the Catholic weddings in USA. Filipinos known for traditional ceremony here in Philippines, wherein we uses different wedding symbols like Rings, Arrhae, Cord, Veil, Motif and others such as Holy Bible, flowers and other offertory gifts. Not to forget we have our Principal Sponsors/ Godparents and the secondary sponsors. I wonder how was the FIL- AM CATHOLIC WEDDINGS in USA since most of the brides from Philippines are mostly Catholics and here we uses Philippine Liturgy intended here and use wedding symbols I mentioned above. As far as I know, Americans and other western countries uses their own Rite of Marriage different from Rite of Marriage of the Philippines. I may say they uses their own rituals or ceremony; for example American - Catholic Weddings use Ring and Unity Candle only. All Catholic weddings are all sacred and I do believe in the solemnity of this ceremony. My fiance and I talk about this topic though we haven`t received our visa approval yet we discussed what Rite are we going to use in the future since Catholic weddings must be planned ahead of time . For those who got married already in USA, is this possible to have Catholic Wedding in USA and use the Rite of Marriage in Philippines? Is this allowed? What kind of Rite have you used during your marriage? Can you give us idea regarding this matter?....Thank you and God bless!... :) :) :)

There are many Filipino communities here in California. You should be able to find a Parish with a Filipino priest that will celebrate a traditional Filipino Rite of Marriage. Eva and I Got married if the Philippines. It was the best experience of my life. There is nothing better that a full-on Catholic wedding in the Philippines.

  9. I feel for you. I truly appreciate my wife sacrificing her career, friends and family to be with me in the U.S. You shouldn't mind what others say. Remember Why you are doing this. All that matters is the two of you and your relationship. That's all. It is Gods will that you are together.
