Hi All,
I came to the US with a fiance visa and got my green card here After paying fee somewhere around $1000. My Question is when i apply to remove my conditions do i still have to pay a fee of $590 (505+85 Biometric) Im asking this bcz i was finger printed when i got the green card.
Thank you
-
thank you. i understand that it is a good thing to return during the given time. but bcz of the cost of air fare they are not hoping to visit us over and over. thats why im trying my best to keep them 4-6 months.
bcz when i get my citizenship im planning to apply immigrant petitions for them. So even if requesting for an extension can affect their chance of visiting the US again as long as they do not stay in the US illegally it wont affect their immigrant process later on right?
-
Yup... request for extension is not guaranteed. but you can always try. Great that they can come over for your childbirth. Good luck!
Hi All,
Thank you all for ur replies.
SOMETHING UNEXPECTED HAPPENED...!!!
My parents went to collect their pass ports yesterday and they have got a two months single entry visa. i have never heard before that local consulates grant such short visas. the visa clearly says the stay as "two months". visa type is still B1/B2. Does anyone know about this kinda visa? is it something new?
my question is this kinda of visa extendable once entered into the US? the visa has an expiration date as 9th May 2009. Pls reply
no it is not extendable.
Yeah im sure it states "two months stay" and visa expires in three months from date of issue. which is 9th of may.
i called USCIS customer service while ago and they said if the visa category is B1/B2 we still can apply for an extension. the visa categroy is mentioned there too as B1/B2.
YMR Why do u say its not extendable? is it bcz it expires in three months ?

The length of stay they allow per visit depends on the Immigration officer. Should you need your parents to extend their stay though, you can always send out a request.
Thank you so much....

Hi ,
thank you for the quick reply. Does the POE officer has access to any records from local consulate regarding my parents visa applications so he gets to know their duration of stay in the visa application? or does he ask questions from them to determine that? also like checking their return air tickets?
to be honest they requested for two months for the visa purpose bcz it is very hard to get visitor visa in our country and would like to stay four months if granted. thats why i'm concerned.
thank you again
they will ask questions most likely including but not limited to there desired length of stay
Thank you... Do u think it's a risk to tell they desire to stay four months when a shorter period mentioned in the visa application? thenk u for being so supportive.

well it can be up to 6 mos. but is totally at the discretion of the POE officer....

Hi you all,
I came to the US on a K3 visa and just got my AOS approved.
Im 8 1/2 months pregnant and my parents applied for B1/B2 non immigrant visa to visit me in march 2009 for the confinement and they got it.
i have few questions about this. The embassy grants 5 yrs multiple entry visa but what is the duration of their authorized stay here in the US? i know that it is granted at the POE and i wanna know whether it is always 6 months which i have heard is the maximum or does it depend on the number of months they mentioned as duration of stay in their DS 156 (visa application) given to the embassy.
pls reply
thank you

Hi All,
I got a call from USEM Colombo last Friday and they just needed some info (National ID number etc) in order to apply for my Police report. I still didn't received any packet from them but they had already scheduled my visa interview appointment to July 15th and they said i will receive the packet next week. By the way they just send only one packet including all forms + appointment letter.
Worried with its delay i asked whether i have to return any forms immediately but they said no you just have to get your medical done and come with the completed forms to the interview.
Well however now i know the interview date and cant wait till these days pass.
Please wish me luck My VJ friends. I hope everything will go smooth.

Hi Zyan,
Congrats to you...!!! So was your case sent to embassy? Anyway goor luck for the rest of the journey.
-
You all are talking about sending case to embassy right? If i remember right the letter my husband received from NVC said that they send the docs electronically to USEM. (I thought they are just e mailing them) Also the USEM Colombo confirmed they received the case the next day itself. Pls explain if i have misunderstood.
