  1. HI TO ALL,

Are they advisable to put A--//- number in the check

The instructions we had said to write the A# on the check and also lightly in pencil on the back of photos. We also put the number in the upper right hand corner of each piece of paperwork we sent.

  2. Hello everyone. I have a question. I wanted to know if it's ok to prepare my fiancee's package like I did the I-129F. I am a little bit crazy when it comes to organization and I two hole drilled, fastened and quick access tabbed my 129F. Since I have to send her my copy for reference and send originals to her I am going ahead and preparing the documents she needs as well. I was going to use the same format with dividers and easy access tabs. Will the embassy be okay with this? I am making 3 copies of the packet I'm sending her one for me, one for her and one for the embassy. Also sending a separate pack with all the originals together. Thanks for all your help.

    Shane

I am attaching a photo of my I129F packet just to show what I'm doing.

    .

I did the same thing for my wife's interview and had the original documents also in case the interviewing officer asked for them. When he saw how everything was organnized, he flipped through to a couple of pages then just chatted with us for a few minutes. It all went very smoothly.

I do agree with not depending on then post office. Importnat documents were sent via Fed Ex.

  3. Yes, you will need copies of the divorce papers. Get extra copies of the papers and the marriage liscese because you'll need them for a citizenship application. Also you will need copies of your birth certificate for both. They do accept photocopies.

so do i still need to send his divorce papers.?or other evidences? but we still dont have lots of evidences since we are just about to get married,

  4. hello!

this question is for those who have left already for the US. Would like to know what documents should i bring to the US to the complete the AOS process? i have packed the following:

1 the brown envelope from USEM that had the passport/visa

    2 CFO sticker & certificate

    3 Birth Certificate

    4 CENOMAR (?)

    5 Affidavit of Support papers

    6 Proof of relationship documents

    7 College Diploma

    8 College Transcript of Records

9 Certificate of Recommendation from Previous Employer

    10 Driver's License

    11 Certification from seminars/trainings

    12 Baptismal Certificate

    13 Certificate of Holy Communion

Anything else? Do i still need to bring the ff?

    1 NBI Clearance

    2 Police Clearance

3 Local IDs like postal ID, SSS, TIN

Hope you can advise me. Thanks in advance!

The only thing I would add would be the NBI certificate. We needed this in when my wife was added to my lease since there was no way for a background check. Be sure and carry the brown envelope and your x-ray in your carry on luggage where it's easy to get to when going thru immigration.

  5. I got interview date(via response from NVC). but, I haven't got letter from the US embassy.

I don't have much time because the date is July, 1st.

    1. letter of employment : should it be notarized?

    2. tax return : need last 3 years or need only 2007 tax return?

Maybe they depends on countries, but I would like to know general proceeding....

    Thank you!!!

only affrordavit of support needs to be notarized----i year tax return

You mean affrordavit of support is I-864?

As far as I know, no need to notarize I-864....

    confused....

The I-864 for the CR-1 visa does not need to be notarized. None of our paperwork had to be notarized. When you receive your letter, one the pages will list the required documents and if any in the list are still needed. We took all the required paperwork to the interview, but since all had been submitted already, we weren't asked for any of it.

  6. My husband and I sent I864 & DS230 on late Apr. and I emailed to NVC and got the response as belows;

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC).

All documentation necessary to complete the National Visa Center's

processing has been received. As soon as an interview date has been

scheduled, the designated representative of this case (applicant, petitioner,

or attorney) will be notified. The US Embassy or Consulate General may

require additional documentation at the time of the interview.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-> does that means our case was completed at NVC?

If so, what should I do ? And, what can I prepare beforehand?

    1. Will they(NVC) sent to my husband(petitioner) or me(beneficiary) the mail that states of our case?

    2. Should I schedule my interview date or the interview date is designated by US embassy?

    Thank you in advance..

Yes, your case is completed at NVC. They will forward the case to the embassy there as soon as an appointment is open. The message on the automated NVC phone line will change to "Case forwarded to embassy".

Assuming your spouse is your agent, both of you will receive the packet for the appontment. The U.S. citizen will normally receive it faster because of the mail system here.

Scheduling is handled differently is various countries. You should be able to visit the forum for S. Korea and find out from others if the NVC or the embassy does the scheduling of appointments.

  7. after 3 years of permanent resident

i ll apply for the US passport

how long does it take to obtain it ?

    there are some statistics ??

    thank you

I agree. The U.S. passport is only available to American citizens. If you are traveling and need a new passport, contact an embassy or consulate of the country where you are now a citizen.

  8. Hello all"

I got my passport in November 3, 2006, will expire on November 3,2011. Good for 5 years. When I got it , it was not needed to travel to the USA as of yet. I married on June 16,2006, in the USA and fill out immigration papers a week after marrying. Went home married, but in Canada your name only changes when changing your name with driver licence so on. When I cross the border going IN the USA, the border quards stamped my admittance with a special $6.00 ticket, to be remove when crossing back into my country Canada. My passports shows my entry June 8,2007 and aslo was stamped my proof of departures on July 1,2007. I would like to use this passport for proof when I get my interview at the Consulate which will be in Montreal. The border quards never ask me if I was getting married, they all thought I was going to work there.(this is why they stamped my passport and told to have the ticket remove upon leaving) When I went back to Canada, they never ask me any questions, just remove the little ticket on my passport and stamped my departures. Do I need to get a new passport in my married name?. I have gotten a long form birth certificate for the interview, (whenever my husband fills out his 1-864.). Not at the interview stage BTW. I think, that the passports in my maiden name would show proof that I do not stay and married in good faith, leaving my husband behide and following laws and returning home. Any answer would be greatly appreciated.

    Marie.

I'm sure the embassy there will be familiar with the name changing process there. When entering the U.S. for immigration, if you use the passport in your maiden name, just have a copy of your marriage certificate.

  9. hello everyone...just wanted to ask u guys if anyone did pay their verification fee to delbros even if the NVC didn't send any notice or instructions to the applicant? I heard it took so long before getting the visa if u didn't pay delbros for the vrification fee before the interview...thanks for your advice...goodluck to everyone...

This is a fee for delivery of inquiries, so if the embassy doesn't have your case yet then paying the fee won't speed up things any. Pay once your case is forwarded to the embassy.

  10. Hi all... Nice to meet you all

My husband is the US citizen and I am British. We have been married for a couple of years and living in the UK, but he recently went back to the US to find work (he just got a job) and a house... So our son and I are planning to join him permanently by July 09.

We have been reading up on all the things that we can find on this site and others about the process... But we have a couple questions:

    1. For the I-130 Package none of the copy's need to be certified?? So he can just photocopy the back and front of his birth certificate and our marriage certificate?
    2. For evidence of a bonafide marriage will the following be enough:
    • Our son's birth certificate
    • Joint Bank accounts/both in the UK and USA (although the US one is new)
    • Phone Bills
    • Emails
    • Affidavits from his mother and father, my mother and a neighbor
Is there anything else?? or should we be getting the affidavits from other people?

Some other good items to show that you are living in a relationship would include co-tenants on a lease or co-owners of a house, co-ownersip of a car

and utility bills in both your names.

  11. hi everyone...i just mailed the DS-3032 choice of agent adress...could anyone help me how long do i have to wait before the process gets complete until my interview...i noticed that if the applicant is not from the philippines it takes the process faster...sometimes i think NVC is unfair...my husband filed I-130 dec.26, 2007....and it takes so long before the next step takes place...anyone who will give me advise on this would help me alot...thanks....god bless guys...

Our case was 10 months from the time the I-130 was sent until the interview and approval. There was no RFE.

  12. hello!

can anyone tell me how long it will take for the NVC to complete the case after turnng in the ds230?

Sorry guys if i'm asking too many questions coz i really want to be with my hubby...

    Thank's a lot

    dennishiella :star:

It will take about a month and the automated phone message at NVC will change to "case complete". Then you will have to wait for the case to be forwarded to embasy which will depend on when an interview slot is open.

Looking forward to your usual advise, suggestions, comments

It looks as if you have everything well covered. Good luck at your interview.

  14. to answer some questions, yes I was petitioned through K1 visa. I dont have really funds for hiring an immigration lawyer and thats why Im here seeking advice on legalities and what i can do to continue to stay here inspite of going through a divorce and not having a greencard yet. im expecting the interview sometime this July but will I be deported because Im going through a divorce or do they wait till its finalized? what do i say during the interview? Im really lost.

Here's a web page that may help you with some of your questions. If the divorce affects your AOS negitavely, you may be able to get your employer to sponsor you on an H class visa. You really need to consider suspending sending all your extra cash back and save for a divorce lawyer.

  15. I just want to know, If arrived in US with K1 visa and after getting married, what is next? Change of Status? How long will it take to get The permanent residency or Green card? And how about getting Citizenship? how long it takes? What is the different Between Green Card and citizenship?

I hope VJ members can help me understand this things...

After you are approved for Adjustment of Status, which you apply for after you are married, you'll get a 10 green card. You'll also need to get a social security number since it's required for tax filing purposes, to work and to get a driver's license. Two years and 9 months after you become a permanent resident, you can apply for citizenship.

  16. Just tried an online application for a credit card thru CAPITAL ONE...just got approve right away. If your planning to have one just try this one. Good luck. They just need your SSN and personal info. GOODLUCK.

whats the credit limit of your card? coz when i tried to apply for one (i have no crdit history what so ever)... they sent a letter pertaining a $200 credit line approval... when i called to inquire all the fees and interest/APR dang it was so high and i have to pay $65 as a fee and blah blah blah that if i take it im owing them more than the $200 credit limit lol... but prior to that since i have a bank of america savings/checking account i tried their american express card and i never thought they will approved me for a $1000 credit limit and it was a blast... hopefully i could increase my credit limit in the near future... good luck to your card and good luck to our utang... hahaha...

i took a bunch of online application from lowes, home depot, wallmart, sears macy's etc all the store that you can take a card from just for me to start my own card but none of them approved me lol... so we thought might as well get a secured credit at least $500 so i can start my own but we're so surprised i got approved by BofA

You might try J.C. Penny for a card to establish your credit. They usually will approve most people.

  17. CENOMAR,should we get one or not?will it affect the visa process if we get cenomar since we are already married?

thanks. any help is highly appreciated. godbless us everyone. :star:

As long as the NSO has recorded the marriage after the local registrar has sent it in, you will get a CEMAR (Certificate of Marriage) even if you apply for a CENOMAR. The CEMAR will show your marriage.

  18. Hello everyone! My interview is on March 13 at 8:30am. Please tell me what to bring on my interview day? What are the fees to pay? I'm under CR-1 Visa anyway. DO I have to call Delbros and ask if they got my payment for docs verification? And call US embassy if they've verified my documents? Tell me their phone numbers please. Tell me what to do from the very beginning to end of your day at USEM guys. For those who got their CENOMAR... I recently got me a copy of that, I put the requester name Juvie Fernandez, but NSO used my maiden name as the requester, is that really it is or something? Also about the CFO stamping... I went to Cebu last May 2007 for the seminar... do you think for the stamping I can have it done here in Manila, or do I have to go back to Cebu? Yikes, I'm starting to feel nervous now... please pray for me guys! Daghang salamat, maraming salamat, thank you, merci, danku, gracias, kamsa hamnida, domo arigato!

Thank You so much guys! All your answers are very much appreciated.

    GOD bless to everyone!

    *JF*

If you've already paid the document verification fee, the only other fee due after the interview will be the visa delivry fee which depends on your location ranging from 300-600 pesos. The CENOMAR should be in your maiden name since once married the certificate is a CEMAR which is Certificate of Marriage, so NSO must not have received the record of your marriage from the local Resistrar yet. You can get your stamp from CFO at either location once the visa is issued. Delbros should have returned your text message verifying the payment. If you didn't receive it or you didn't text them after making payment at the bank, you should call them. Best of luck to you at the interview.

  19. Does anyone know how to get an International Drivers License in Philippines? Or can I use Philippines drivers license in the US for a little while until I get a new one?

Check the web site for your state's BMV. It will vary state by state as to what their laws are. In Ohio the Philippine license is good for up to a year or until you obtain employment. The Internation driver's license is really only usefull when the foreign license is in a language other than enlish.

  20. It took my Filipina wife and I almost 4 years to get her here to Texas. When my wife went to the consuler in Manala HE changed her K-3 to a IR1. He told her that because it took so long to get to that point that he would change it himself. When she got here she was told by the people that checked her packet when she arrived in the US airport that she would get her Green Card automatically and soon. How long wil it really take? I have looked and tried calling someone to find out the real times of getting the card. Also I have also applied for the SSN on her DS-230 Part II form that was sent in. Is this the right process for that? To me it seems vague and needs more of my attention. Seems to easy for this. lol. Nothing is this easy. HELP... She wants to work, get a drivers license and her green card. She arrived March 20, she is very dissatisfied with the whole process.

It took this long because of the good old IRS. Someone there didnt believe that we were really married....hmmmm go figure.

My wife's green card arrived 4 weeks after her entry. The SS card had not yet arrived so we went to local SS office with the green card and our marriage certificate. For some reason, no SSN for her was being processed even though we had cheked the space on the DS-230. Once her number was entered into the SS computer, the officer said all the info was there and told her the process was started and she should receive the card in 7-10 business days.

  21. call DOS at 202-663-1225-1-0

You will need either your case # or ss # and benificiaries name, they should be able to track it down

    Good luck

Thanks so much for that number!

I contacted them, and they were able to tell me that I had been assigned a new case number...and they had sent me a DS 3032 on Feb 11 to our old address in Korea. I am not sure why this is, as I had a letter sent to me in Canada already, and we requested the case be transferred from Seoul to Canada...so we wouldn't be there to get any mail. The new case number also starts with SEO. It was MTL before, and now it's been changed back to SEO. I hope this doesn't mean that they've sent my file back to Korea.

I've contacted the NVC to give them my new address, and I don't know if the DS 3032 means I am any closer to an interview. I had an interview in Korea, but was missing a document that I couldn't get in time before we left. So I now have all the docs needed, just waiting for an interview date.

You may be able to get some help if the USC will contact his Congressional Represntative or Senator.
