  1. Hi Everyone,

I am trying to get everything together to file my husband's AOS. I have a few questions though. Some of the evidence requested is redundant of what we needed for his K-1 visa. Do we need to send all of this again?? Do we have to submit an Affidavit of Support again, G-325A, and copies of all of his police reports, etc. It is no problem to do this, but just annoying since we have filed all of this before, they should have all the information from the package we submitted at POE. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks in advance for your help!!!

  2. Thanks to both of you for your answers! I have been so stressed lately, and this is the last thing that needed to happen! Sounds like it should be easy enough to send it back to the embassy for repackaging. Raf isn't dense it's just that I am a bit of a control freak and I have handled all of the paperwork for this entire process. His interview was 3 weeks ago and he doesn't remember things I told him yesterday. No harm no foul! Thanks for your help!! :star:

  3. Has anyone ever opened the sealed packet that is to be given to the Immigration officer at the POE??? My fiance received his visa today in the mail and before I could remind him not to open the package, he had already done so. It contains all of the copies of our file basically. I am really freaked out that this will affect his experience at POE. Has anyone ever had this happen before?? I would contact the Embassy, but they can't send a new packet because it is all of our paperwork. I am so aggravated that this happened, and he just said "what can we do about it now"?

Please any response would be appreciated!!!

    Thanks!!

  4. Hi all!

My fiance has his interview in London on March 11. NVC sent his information to London even though we had requested his home country. He has been living in London for almost 10 years. He doesn't have permission to be in London but still pays taxes, has a drivers license, etc. I have been told that we will have "problems" :crying: . Does anyone have any experience with a similar situation?? YOur thoughts are appreciated. We just want to be together and he is convinced he knows someone that was in a similar situation and was granted a visa. I am really getting stressed out so any heads up would be wonderful!

    Thanks so much!

  5. Hi all!

I had a question regarding the evidence that is to be used to support the interview. Do we only send the forms back to the embassy and keep the evidence and take that to the Interview? One place said to send no documents, but bring them to the Interview. Then one of the forms that is to be filed and sent back said to include evidence of engagement and affidavit of support. I am soooo confused and hope someone can steer me in the right direction. Thanks so much! :help:

  6. Hi i waited 9 days for a response on an email and then I decided to try emailing again and I got an automated response that I didnt get the first time the response was

"Your message has been received by the Consular Information Unit. We are

currently averaging three to four days to answer email correspondence.

There is no mechanism for "status checks" while a nonimmigrant visa

application is being processed. Inquiries concerning cases which

require administrative processing or background checks, and which have

been pending less than 60 days, will not be answered.

Please do not, under any circumstances, send a duplicate or follow-on

e-mail. Repeat messages slow down our response time, and we reserve

    the

right to permanently delete all e-mails from senders who transmit

    repeat

    messages or status checks.

    Sincerely,

    Consular Information Unit"

At lest I now know when I should get a reply i must of done something wrong the first email

    Hi Scott,

I did the exact same thing. I sent an email on January 20th and never received a response. I allowed extra time due to January 21st being a holiday. After waiting a week and a half, I resent the email yesterday and received the same automated response you did. I thought I must have sent the first email wrong, but this can't be a coincidence. I assume something was wrong with their system or they were ignoring us. Hopefully, since we have officially recieved the message they will get back to us soon. Sorry this offers no help, but maybe piece of mind that it wasn't you that sent the email in error. Good luck with your process!

    Take Care!

  7. I was reading some timelines and noticed that some people went straight from their cases being sent from NVC to the US embassy to a letter with the Medical and Interview date. Is this common? I thought most people received a Packet 3 with a list of documents, support, evidence, and forms needed that are to be mailed back in before they mail you the final packet with your interview date. Is this based upon each individual Embassy? Thanks for your help I am confused!

  8. Hi everyone! I am so excited I just got approved on Thursday, however, I feel terrible for those that are still waiting. My question is can and when should I call to speak with NVC about changing my fiance's address. He has moved since we filed our petition, and like an idiot he hasn't changed it with the post office. I guess I have to do all the work! Anyway, is this possible, and my other question is regarding whether you can request a change in the Embassy they send it to? He is from Albania, but living in the UK. Someone has said that they will automatically send it to the embassy where he is residing which would be the UK. This would be great, but when I called last week they wouldn't tell me anything. Is it possible for me to get anything changed through a phone call?? If anyone has gone through anything similar please let me know!!! This is a very exciting but nerve-racking time! Thanks so much!

  9. I'm sorry, but if their status holds no bearing...if they are illegal or not...why in the heck...are we all going through this process?

Immigration status in other countries is not the concern of U.S. immigration. You may think that it should have bearing, but anecdotal evidence would suggest otherwise.

Thank you so much everyone for your thoughts and comments. Basically, he came to the UK when he was 15 seeking asylum and he reapplied for another visa when it expired, but was denied. He stayed and never went home, therefore, he has no right to be in the UK and hasn't for the past 7 years. We are filing everything through Albania because I have heard that the UK won't take notice as long as he hasn't overstayed a visa in the US. So my feelings are to not involve the UK at all because of the risk of him coming home earlier than expected.

  10. Hey guys, I was wondering where they mail your Packet 3 for a I-129, after NVC has passed it on? Do they mail that information to the petitioner or the fiance? I don't know if I should mail the original documents to my fiance or keep them with me?

THanks so much that is helpful, so basically we should mail copies of our documents and save the originals to take to the interview?

  11. Hi guys! I am relatively new to VJ, I have been reading posts for a while but I just started posting myself tonight. I have a question regarding how to get police records, if your fiance was not legal in the country they have lived since age 16. Has anybody else had to request records and how would I do that without jeopardizing being sent home before his interview date? Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated, I am stressing big time  ! THanks and nice to meet you all!

  12. I apologize if this is a silly question, but I am trying to convince my fiance that since he doesn't have a visa to be in England, he can't leave from there to come directly to the US. Am I right? I thought that I need to process everything from his home country and he will have to go there for his interview and then fly from there to the US. Please help because he seems to think that if we get in touch with the embassy in London, that he can leave from there. Help! :help:
