  1. Hi All

I am writing here to thank everybody at this forum - both the staff and members here. This forum has helped me right from getting my K1 Visa to sailing thru N400 interview.

I did not look for any information anywhere other than this forum.

I had my N400 interview at Pittsburgh. My wife (USC) was with me as I was very anxious. I just wanted to get done with this "forever". It had been a long arduous journey.

The interviewer was a young man in his thirties. He came to the door and called me. My wife also wanted to come but he said no. In the room, he asked me if she was my wife - he asked two times.

I guess bringing your spouse does help. He went thru the document paper and asked all those questions which they are supposed to. Then he asked me six questions which I got all correct.

He asked my permission to go thru the papers which I had brought with me. All he was interested in taking copies of those papers which showed we are sharing expenses - common bank account, credit

card, my wife's name along with mine on the car purchase, gas bill etc.

Then he smiled and said he is recommending me for oath ceremony. This interview was not more than 5 minutes and my wife was very surprised that I came out so soon.

I am so happy and relaxed that I am done - in this life !

  2. I have my interview in less than ten days and I get a RFE for further information. I was married once back in my home country and divorced. My wife was not married before.

The RFE says - bring proof of termination of all previous marriages for both you and your spouse (registered by a civil authority)

I had already sent my divorce decree (xerox copy) with my application papers. There is no divorce certificate as such in my home country. All you get is a divorce decree which is

both typed and hand written in English. Shall I take the same copy of divorce decree ? Do I need to get the original certified copy from the court back home ?

Another question - how is the interview experience at Pittsburgh and do they provide same day oath ?

    thanks for your time !

  3. As I understand, these are the relevant documents to be attached with my N400 for documents referring to me and my spouse :

Tax returns, bank accounts, leases, mortgages, or birth certificates of children, or

Internal Revenue Service (IRS)-certified copies of the income tax forms that you both filed for the past three years, or

An IRS tax return transcript for the last three years.

We don't have children, is there anything else to be send with the form ?

  4. I came here on K1 visa and became eligible to file for citizenship in May 2012. The problem is I have been out of US for 4 times for several months. If I total all those months, it will amount to not less than 10 months. Just after I came to USA, I learned that my father has Pancreatic cancer and I used to take frequent trips to take care of him. Now I am in USA and do not need to go out of the country as my father passed away last year.

Would I have any issue after filing N400 ? This is the what I am referring to : In Part 7, (A), there is a question - "write the total number of days you spend outside of the US during the last five years."

thanks for your valued replies !

  5. I got the date for biometrics in the first week of June. My father passed away recently so I am taking care of legal matters back home. I checked the box for extending the date and now it is in the last week of June. I still cannot make it. Is it okay if I seek another date extension and also put a letter requesting that I will be able to come after 2nd week of July ? Do I need to put in the death certificate of my father also ?

  6. I need to reschedule my biometrics. On the form, there is a check box to request rescheduling of the date.

My father passed away and both I and my wife (USC) are in India right now. My sister in law will take care of rescheduling. Is there anything else to do other than check the box, make a copy and send it back in to Immigration. I think it should be sent with delivery confirmation ? How do I get the new date ? Would it be possible to make info pass (walk in) to service center when I come back to USA ?

    thanks.

  7. Hi All

My 2 yr PR expires in the last week of May 2011. Right now, I am in India taking care of my father who has terminal cancer. That is the reason why I am delaying in applying for removal of conditions. Now, I feel I should go ahead with the application but seek rescheduling (extending date) of biometrics. My wife (USC) is in USA

and she will be taking care of all the paper works.

    I have a few questions :

    1) Is it possible to reschedule 2-3 months later ?

    2) I understand I have to tick something on the form for extending date ? Is it safe to send my mail or deliver is personally to the office where it is scheduled ?

    3) After rescheduling, I do not have to worry about interview. Things proceed only after biometrics, right ?

  8. Hi

I am doing paper work for ROC. We have joint credit card, mobile bill etc. While the bills are in my wife's name, my name is written in small letters somewhere in the middle of documents. At a first glance, it is difficult to find it. Would it be okay if I highlight it with some colored pen ?

I am printing the photos on plain paper - is that okay ?

    thanks

PS - more questions to come ;)

  9. when you send in your 1-751 that send you a letter noa1 receipt one year extension, green card, then about 5 weeks latter you will get another letter asc appointment canter for your biomatrics,in may be for maybe one month,if you can't keep your appointment you have to notify them, .....as for the interview is is randomly mybe mybe not,...good luck

Do you mean approval could be without any interview ? I understand I would not want to reschedule bio. thanks for replies !

ejbrooks - congrats, that was fast :)

  10. Hi Everybody

I have to apply for removal of conditions in Feb 2011. I got this far from all the information found on this website :)

I have to plan my visit to India for a few months. I need your important feedbacks on how to plan it.

It seems okay that I apply for removal in feb 2011 and wait for the NOA which grants one more year of residency in US.

Can I postpone my biometrics for a few months ? or should I go through the bio and postpone the interview (assuming it will

come sooner than expected) ? How long does it take for the bio date to show up ? I will be applying at Vermont center.

  11. Hi ALL

I have a big problem here. I am due to apply for removal of conditions on my Green Card in the last week of February 2011.

A few months before I was coming here on K1, my mom passed away. Once I was here, we came to know my father has terminal

pancreatic cancer. We even brought here for treatment but it was no good.

Now, the doctor has asked me to live his last days in peace. We dont know how long he has to live. But, I dont have a choice

but to go back and look after him. Of course, I want him to live long. I dont know how long I have to stay there. I can come

back to USA for biometrics but might have to go back again. I have all the records of his illness.

What will happen when I apply for removal of conditions ? Would I get into problem for being out of US for long ? I have already

been out of USA two times for four months each. I know my situation is unfortunate but hope somebody has a good advice for me ?

    thanks for your time !

  12. I agree about researching health care carefully. That will be a concern for him to be sure. We've considered bringing my mother in law over when my husband becomes a US citizen, but I sincerely doubt we can find a company to cover her that will be remotely affordable - even if we try to help her pay for it.

    *edited for clarity*

I understand. My father has multiple entry visa and two months back while being in USA, he developed some complication and had to undergo surgery.

The hospital charges was humongous so medical insurance if the foremost thing in our mind.

  13. My bro is USC. Since my mom passed away, we have trouble taking care of my father. He is there back home to take care of him.

But, now he wants to return back to USA. I understand that he has to file I-130 ? What other documents he need to file ? My father

does not keep well - would he be eligible for medical insurance/benefits once he comes to USA ?

    thanks for your replies !
