  1. hi marea! i thought maybe he'd recognize u at the embassy.. :) anyway, last time i talked to my travel agent, northwest, china, and asiana had the lowest airfare. but between now and early september, it will be expensive since it's peak season. i booked our tickets late may as soon as we found out he was eligible for an interview. u should book ur ticket asap since it will be more expensive if u book it closer to ur travel date. plus, the fuel surcharge will for sure increase again.

  2. hi guys my interview is on June 25, 2008. I could have been interview as early as June 13, but I don't think my documents would be all ready so decided to do it on last week of June.

By the way don't wait for the packet 3 to arrived, if you already have the case number you can now call to get schedule for visa interview. Im glad that I met Shape here at Pinoy VJers she told me what to do.

Goodluck to all of us and we hope we could be with our love one soon.

What number did you call at the US Embassy? Thanks!

  3. NVC sent a letter to my wife indicating there that i already have an MNL #. My queston is, when can i start doing doc verification in order to avoid delays of issuing the visa? Ive seen some post here that doc verification sent to delbros and delbros sending it to NSO takes almost a month and issuing the visa becomes delayed. Is it possible to do and finish doc verification before interview date comes?Like right now that i already know my MNL # from NVC, can i start doing it?So that when my interview date comes and pass it, i wont wait for my visa that long. Anyone, please advice. Thank you very much.

Also, can someone please post their experience regarding doc verification. Ive read a post.. a step on how to avoid delays in doc verification but i think it was deleted. Thanks again.

  4. I would like to ask those who just had their visa interview...Is the old passport (green one) still accepted by USEM? I heard from a friend that his fiancee's passport during the interview was scrutinized to the point that it was destroyed and was asked to get the new passport issued by DFA which is machine validated. My friend told me that someone in the embassy, i dont know if its a consul or what, doubted the passport of my friend's fiancee as the picture in our old passport is elevated, slightly raised or was just taped in the passport by DFA in security tape (if u notice it...). I would appreciate any replies. Thanks a lot.

  5. Thanks for the reply. We're trying to guesstimate when my hubby might be able to interview and get a visa. Based on your timeline, it took about a month and a half from the date of NOA2 to the date of interview. Is this the normal timeframe for getting an interview? Also, did you get your visa on the day of your interview or did they mail it to you? Thanks again.

Our i-130 and i-129f petitions were both approved..How do we know which petition will be forwarded to the embassy? What if both petitions were forwarded? What are the steps and necessary documents we need to prepare? Thank you in advance.

    Hi,

    Congrats.

It won't get both to embassy. There's a higher chance that it's the K3 who will forward to USEM.

Since it was approved already, USCIS will send you the hard copy for both approved petition and then after, you will receive letter from NVC informing you your new case number that starts with MNL200******* and that them (NVC) is forwarding your case to USEM-Manila.

When you know your MNL case number already, you can then call to make an interview appointment , and also you can start paying the document verification fee, visa fee, and have the medical exam.

I got my NOA1 for my I-129F today! Notice day is February 21, 2008. Happy day! :D

  8. hi cying,

can i ask whats the date given under the NOTICE DATE in your NOA1?

    thanks

hi..notice date was feb. 12. hey do u know the estimated time for cr1/ir1 petitions for spouses in the philippines? i thought i'd ask since i saw that u were filing for cr1/ir1. my hubby and i are trying to decide if we should go with the k3 or the cr1/ir1. thanks.. :)

  9. "CONSULAR PROCESS"

I heard that opting to go through the "consular process" instead of the regular "adjustment of status" once the alien relative gets to the US is the faster route (Not sure if this is accurate information). However, I cannot find anything that speaks to "consular process" other than this paragraph that was included in USCIS's press release regarding K-3 petitions.

"If the beneficiary should later elect to consular process instead of applying for adjustment of status, Form I-824, Application for Action on an Approved Application or Petition, must be filed with the USCIS office that approved Form I-130. Upon favorable action on Form I-824, USCIS will send Form I-130 to the NVC."

Is this true? Please direct us to any information you might have about "consular process."

    Thanks :)

  10. Don't worry, It won't be long until you are approved, go to the uscis website and check the status of your case..I was approved right on the day..6 months exactly.

Hi...When you received the notice of receipt for your I-129F, did it have an estimated time of how long it would take for USCIS to process? Also, after you received the NOA2, is that when they forward your petition to the US Embassy and then they schedule for an interview?

    Thank you.

  11. I am trying to complete form I-130 but got confused on question number 22 on part C. My husband is not in the US so I thought I would not have to complete this part. However, I am struggling with the sub question on number 22:

"If your relative is not eligible for adjustment of status, he or she will apply for a visa abroad at the American consular post in: City, Country"

I plan to file the I-129 once I receive the i-797. The American consular post would be Manila, Philippines. However, I am concerned that he would have to go back to the Philippines to apply for adjustment of status in case he comes to the US via I-129F (K3).

Do I need to complete question 22 at all? Any information would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

  12. I plan to marry my fiance this December and file the K-3 in January when I come back to the States. Do I have to change my last name on all my documents, i.e. passport, before I can file the K-3? Should I use my husband's last name or my maiden name on the forms? If you guys know of any guidance on this, please forward me a link or something. thanks!

You can use your new married name on the forms, and in your passport if you wish to.

hey are you from the philippines? i'm from there too and my bf lives there..did you file for a k3 as well?
