  1. The kid is 18 and my fiance and I are going to get married soon. We do live together so that's why I'm calling him my husband, not even realizing it is an immigration page and some details are very very important and also Don't want to sound like a liar since I did state he is my husband.. Sorry about that.

Mother is still alive and he lives with her.

So if I can't apply since we are not married yet and fiance is a permanent resident, how he can apply? Where?

I really do appreciate your help.

  2. Hi VJ folks,

First, I am not sure if I have to ask this question here, but here I go.

My husband is a permanent resident and he has a son who just turned 18 years, lives in Europe with his mother. We want to bring his son in USA, but have no idea where to start. Reading some cases online it says we need about $4000 for a lawyer.. However, what's the process of me/us adopting him? I am a US citizen.. What documents we will need from Europe? Mother?

    Thanks in advance

  3. FYI, VJ Peeps,

I did check the uscis.com web site and as they are updating every Tuesday is shows that my husband is accepted and his is requested for ceremonial oath. We need to just wait for uscis notification letter.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR REPLY`s, I WISH YOU ALL EASY AND LESS PAINFULL JOURNEY! MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!!!(L)

    Dani :)

  4. What a relief for you and your family! We did not have any problems so far, everything was going very smooth and I hope is not going to be a big deal for us as well, I believe USCIS are updating every Tuesday the page where you can check your case status and I am very anxious to see if theres any update, we`ll see. Thank you!

Citizenship is all about being certified, you do get a certificate. Have a number of government agency certifications, but always was tested and questioned by a board, never an individual person.

Found this very strange with the USCIS only having one person making that on-the-spot decision, but apparently not the final decision, that has to be made by my best guess, the supervisor, or even the office manager. That brings about the question, who is really being tested, the applicant or the performance of the interviewing officer, as to even if the interview was conducted properly.

The letter we received from the USCIS stated proof of paid fines is excluded, the very reason given to my stepdaughter. So can only guess he reported this as the reason and it was rejected. Can't tell by who, the letter was never signed. But was not a form letter, dates and charges she was suppose to respond to were very specific. What really threw me for a loop, if these charges are incorrect, contact the court of law that imposed these charges. What court of law? No court was stated, not even the city, country, state, or even the country. That was way too much to deal with, handed that to my senators office.

Believe your husbands' IO will have to state the reason why he was rejected and more evidence is required. Just have to see what happens, could be nothing and he will receive his oath letter. But do know the frustration you are going through, the only topic of conversation in my home until three weeks went by and it was all over.

  5. That was very nice of your IO, but in our case she didnt wanted from my husband to call me even she knew I was near...We`ll see in a month! Thanks for sharing your story.

I had the interview Yesterday and officer called my wife and asked to be in the interview, i was tested while my wife is sitting next to me, also the officer asked her questions like where we met..... The spouse can attend the Interview.

Even the officer didn't ask for any kind of evidence and when i told her that we brought all documents she said she doesn't need them, seeing your wife with you and the document you already sent are enough for me.

  6. Thank you v333k! Thank you all I really appreciate your thoughts!!! It is just unpleasant situation since you know you are OK and they are trying to make you feel miserable.

To me - it sounds like this IO was out of line asking such questions. Especially related to parking lot tickets! Everyone gets parking tickets - I wouldn't be surprised if even the president has some as well... (maybe not recently :) )

In any case - just like everyone else suggested, submit all you can and with that much evidence, there is no way they will question the legality and truth of your marriage.

Just like when we went through Removal Of Conditions (I-751), my wife and I categorized evidence and the most important is money...

IRS tax returns, bank accounts, 401ks, insurance, lease agreements, car loans, mortgages, etc...

I think you are ok right now... just a little wrinkle...

  7. Thanks for your input Nick, that is exactly how my husband respond to my phone number question. He said he has me under whatever number and he never remember that, when she asked where am I and why I am not there, he suggest to call me to come since I was outside on the parking lot and I could come, she denied that, then a question about traffic tickets. Well, he admit he had some and that he went to school about it and payed his fees. I mean leave us alone IO`s!!! I guess as you said Nick its about to wait and see whats gonna be next. Thanks again!

Can tell you my wifes' phone number, its Connie's cell on my cell phone, but don't ask me her actual number, can't even remember my own, never call myself. Well, my address, kind of know that, always giving that out.

I feel your IO is out of line asking those questions, maybe his IO watched that "The Proposal" movie where all kinds of intimate questions were asked. Found that absurd. Or that recent History Channel documentary on US citizenship where this guy was asked if we were at war with his country, would he shoot his former citizens.

I felt my stepdaughters' IO was out of line by telling her a decision cannot be made at this time because he demanded proof she paid minor traffic violations that he asked her if she ever had. But when the letter came in for that proof, said you don't have to show proof of paying those fines. But instead they came up with an absurd responding to a battery charge against her when she was 17 months old. They didn't say she was 17 months old, I did, they just posted the date when this alleged charged occurred. That was too much for me to handle, so I turned this over to my senators office to respond to, got a "miscommunication" problem response and shortly after, her oath appointment.

With my own wife, had to pinch myself to make sure I was there when her IO came out, she wouldn't even turn her head to return my hello. But according to my wife, sure wanted to see my papers. Positively no personal nor intimate questions were asked of her, gathered a happy marriage is paying taxes together and owning joint property.

All I can say, is wait until that letter comes in to see what it says, can come back and get opinions on it if you so chose.

  8. YUP! All that submitted too, even from my work I had a copy from emergency contact list, we collected everything that is possible ...I believe she saw him lost since he didnt know my phone number and she started to ask him all questions from the app, one of the question was if he ever had a parking lot tickets or whatever, I mean why she should ask that?!?! Thank you!

    - Utility bills

    - If you have 401k, or any type of insurance, submit showing the spouse as the beneficiary...

    - any co-ownership will definitely help (car, house, etc..)

  9. Yes, we did. Everything that was asked from them was submitted previously with N-400 app so she said to my husband if he had something 'new' to be submitted, something that they dont have ...yeah, like what else besides taxes, joint acc`s, apartment rent, pics....Thank you for your input I really apreciate!

They will tell you in the letter. Just give them what they ask for. Could be the same stuff, only updated. Did you submit joint taxes?

  10. Thanks for your reply. We submitted all documents from the lease of the apartment, bank accounts, insurances, pictures from visiting our families, we dont have kids yet...so, what else could be proof?

You cannot be at the interview, that's the point. They will probably just ask for additional proof of your relationship.

  11. Hi VJ peeps,

So, my husband had an interview for a citizenship yesterday, he passed the US history part, BUT, when he was questioned the basics things like what is my phone number, where and where did we live/move from/to he didnt also give a correct answer (cause he used to wait for me to 'remember' everything) and I also wasnt at the interview since it didnt mention in USCIS notification letter I should be there. He admitted that he screwed himself. He received just a white paper checked that he pass the history but if they need additional documents or so they will send him a letter in a month...Anyway, what are the consequences from this? Will he have another interview?...with me maybe or? Please give me your thoughts and experience!

    Thanks in advance guys.

  12. and if the USC sponsor has moved then an I-865 needs to be submitted as well

An permanent resident must report any adress changes via AR-11 within 10 days until such time they are no longer a resident

A USC sponsor must report address changes until such time as the I-864 is no longer in effect.

    What is that mean payxibka?

We did move since my husband arrived in US but I didnt notify Immigration about the change of the address. What could happen? We need to apply for ROC soon. Thanks!
