Hi Everyone,
Exactly two weeks ago we sent my husband's AOS application to the Chicago office. We sent it priority/certified mail, but still have not heard anything and our check has not been cashed yet. When I check the delivery status online, it says it was delivered on May 26th.
Should I be worried? Oh, I should also mention that today marks 90 days since he entered the US! Yikes!!!
As always, thanks for your advice!!!

Now, my husband mentioned that he once read about a special application for advance parole lasting two years or more. He isn't sure where he saw that. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing?

Thanks for your advice everyone! We will certainly research all that you mentioned. We've come too far to risk anything at this point! Tough decisions have to be made!

Hi Everyone,
My husband was recently offered a full scholarship to study in England. Absolutley everything is covered in this scholarship.... so it is not easy for us to turn it down. It is a one-year program, from Oct 08- Oct 09. The tricky part is that we just sent in our AOS paperwork two weeks ago! I know that if he is out of the country and misses an interview, he is not likely to get his greencard. Others have advised us that he should probably not leave the US for about two years after filing for a greencard.... is that really true? I have read about the advance parole thing... but can he be on parole for an entire year?
Please pass along any advice you may have. We really want to make a good decision about this and not jeopardize all that we have worked so hard for.
Thanks in advance!!
Peace,
Katie

Hi everyone,
My husband (smile) and I are ready to send off his AOS packet.... just one little bit of confusion remains! I understand that the fees for the EAD are included in the $1,050 fee for the I-485, right? Does that mean we don't have to submit the I-485 form?
I don't want to make any mistakes after coming this far!
Thanks in advance!

Hi Everyone,
My fiance was approved for his K-1 visa and is on his way over here to the US on March 4th. I am just wondering how much the next phase of paperwork will cost us? I've been reading and it looks like it could be a couple thousand. Is that true? How much did you pay? And are all of the fees due during these next 90 days when he is here on the fiance visa?
I appreciate any advice you can offer.
Thanks,
Katie

Hi Everyone!
My fiance was approved for his visa this week! Yeahhh! Now we are making travel arrangements and diving into heavy-duty wedding planning!
I was just looking aroud trying to understand when he is eligible to receive a social security number, but its difficult to find a clear answer. I'm asking because I want to put him on my health insurance asap and think a ssn may be required for that. Has anyone had experience in dealing with this sort of thing?
Any advice is most welcome!
Thanks!

Hi Everyone,
My fiance is just about to go for his interview, so I am looking into flight options. I understand that JFK is the best place to fly into for ensuring that he gets an EAD stamp. But, does anyone know if we have any chance of getting one through a DC airport (namely, Dulles, thats where the flights from Zambia come in to.) It sounds like JFK gives them out without even asking... but if he were to ask, how likely would he be to get one at Dulles?
Thanks for your advice everyone!!
Peace,
Katie

Hi Everyone,
My fiance and I are so excited to be making our way through this tedious visa process. He is currently going through the medical examination and will soon have his interview at the embassy. Zambia does not require an affadavit of support, instead, just a bank statement from me and a letter from my employer. I am earning more than enough to satisfy the 125% of the poverty line requirement, however I only have about $3000 in the bank. I am a little worried that this will not look good to the immigration people.
Do you think we could be rejected because of this? Have you heard of any cases like this? Maybe I am just nervous and panicking over nothing. After all, we do fit the guidelines.
Any advice is welcome!!
No news from USCIS - its been two weeks

Oh No!! We just got the rejection notice in the mail!!! Simply because we made the check out for the incorrect amount. We are already getting things together to resubmit tomorrow.... but here is the big problem.... Kelvin's I-94 expired yesterday. I hope he doesn't get rejected for a greencard. Will they take into consideration that we filed on time, but then had to resubmit - even if the mistake is our fault!
Please advise!!
