  1. I have not seen any instructions that indicate that I need a apostilles for Natasha's birth certificate and some other documents. Has anyone been through this who can tell me if the embassy asked for apostille documents?

You can email the embassy with your question. I was required to have an apostille attached to my birth certificate when I married in Romania; but that was a requirement of the Romanian government, not the U.S Embassy in Romania.

Best of luck to you both.

  3. Hey guys, i was wondering of any one could advise. My case was approved last week of June, I as a petitioner has received the copy of interview letter, but my wife did not receive it from the foreign consulate (Islamabad) Pakistan

How long does it take before she will get the letter. She tried calling the US consulate but their number is always busy.

    please advise

She should receive letter soon. My husband's letter was dated June 23 and he received it this past Monday. Also, I may be mistaken, but I think his letter came from the National Visa Center and not the Embassy.

Best of luck to you both.

  4. Hi Everyone,

My husband received a call today from the US Embassy in Bucharest informing him that our packet was received and he needed to submit to them a police report from Italy. If you read an earlier post from me, you will see that he overstayed a visa in Italy years ago (stayed 4 months instead of 90 days). He was very surprised they would call. He told the woman who called that it was his understanding he only needed a police report from places he has lived for at least six months. He submitted to them the original deportation papers from the Italian border patrol. The papers clearly stated the length of time he was there. After explaining the situation to the woman from the Embassy, she seemed to be satisfied with his explanation of events. She reminded him to bring with him to the interview evidence of our relationship (pictures, emails, etc). He asked her a few questions regarding the medical exam and the conversation was over.

    His interview is August 25th.

I told my husband this was not necessarily a bad sign....but possibly a good sign. This overstay in Italy was his biggest worry. It is out in the open.

    What do you guys think?

  5. I'm from Romania and I'm trying to find the best way to call my family in Romania from USA. I'm currently using those phone cards from callingcardplus.com, but I would like to here some of your ways to keep in contact with your loved ones

    Anca,

You may want to try NECC (Sprint). You can visit their website at www.necc.us. If you do, please note that the rates published on their website for calling to Romania are much higher than what you actually pay. You can get a representative for their Romanian Community by calling (954) 573-6266. This has worked out well for me. I can even call my husband from my job and charge the call to my home phone.

    Hope this helps.

  6. Hi, I have a simple question which seems to have two answers…….

My sweetie lives in Chisinau Moldova, I just filed our I-129F at CSC.

Will she be required to travel to Bucharest Romania for her Interview, Medical check,

or will this be done in Moldova. I was told that when Romania became a EU member, this was moved to Moldova?

If no one knows for sure, does anyone know who I could contact that could provide a reliable answer?

    Cheers,

    Scott

    Scott,

Not sure of the correct answer to your question, but here is a good place to start finding the information you need. http://moldova.usembassy.gov/index.html

    Best wishes to you both.

  7. Thanks Loto, this is very helpful.

Our case was complete at NVC on 06/11. I have been reviewing a lot of posts to find out what is next for us. This puts everything in one place. I do have one question, however. How long does it take to generate the medical appointment letter?

Gigi, Good luck to your interview

Generally, medical details will be written on the immigrant visa appointment letter. However, I have personally not received the interview letter. Once you have interview letter, you will have all the forms with it. If you don't get it, email/call to the consulate, so that they will guide you to download packet 4 forms.

I would say IV appointment letter can take anywhere from 1 week to 4 weeks once NVC mails it out.

    Good luck again

PS:- My document is very generic and depicts the post-NVC steps. For detailed info, please visit your consulate website, email/call them.

    Thanks again. Great info

  8. So, I finally tried calling NVC tonight from Tokyo ( btw it's about 11:30 a.m. on the eastcoast ).

The operator seems to be busy so it throws me back into the automatic loop. But my Case#

prefix TYO is not on the list they run off, and it says if I do not have any letter combination

as they announce, which I don't have, then they shoot me back to a live operator. But since

they are busy, I end up at the automatic response again. Help please

OK, the numbers I dial is 603-334-0700, then 1, then 5.

Have you tried emailing the NVC at nvcinquiry@state.gov using the following guidelines? The response is a bit slower than via telephone, however you should get the information you need.

    Good luck.

Please be advised, as of April 4, 2008 our office has revised our

guidelines for communication between the National Visa Center and the

public. We are now required to verify case specific information each

    time we receive an inquiry.

According to U.S. law, the National Visa Center is only permitted to

discuss details of a visa case with authorized representatives and when

provided with all of the following information:

NVC case number or CIS receipt number

Petitioner's name and date of birth

Beneficiary's name and date of birth

    Your full name

If you are the legal representative, and your G-28, Notice of Entry of

Appearance as Attorney or Representative, is not on file please include

a copy of your signed G-28, showing that you are the legal

representative as well as the following information:

NVC case number or CIS receipt number

Petitioner's name and date of birth or Beneficiary's name and date of

    birth

    Attorney's law firm name

    Attorney's law firm address

    Your full name

If you are corresponding regarding an I-140 petition you must provide

    the following information:

NVC case number or CIS receipt number

    Name of the petitioning company

Beneficiary's name and date of birth

    Your full name

If you are the petitioner, principal applicant or legal representative,

please notify the National Visa Center with any changes to your mailing

address, email address or phone numbers.

Please resubmit your inquiry including the required information.

    Thank you,

    National Visa Center

  9. My husband's name on his official documents from Romania are in inverted order. Last (family) name, middle name, and finally first name. When my husband's petition was sent, it was sent in error with his middle name as his first name and his first name as his middle name. I noticed this after our former attorney filed the petition, however he never made the correction as I requested. I paid our NVC fees online and need to complete the required forms for the next step.

At this point, how difficult is it to correct the error on record with the NVC. I am prepared to send an email to the NVC with an attached copy of his birth certificate, passport biographic page, etc. The problem is, will the inverted name order or the hyphenated middle-first name (as it is on his birth certificate only) be understood and accepted. I know this will probably delay our process a bit, but we want everything done correctly. I'm am trying to not become overwhelmed. Please help. Thanks.
