I called DOS this morning. The lady said that the P4 has been sent and that the interview date is September 11th. I have get busy booking airline ticlets and a thousand other things. Thanks to VJ for the help during this process!
-
In all of my reading posts here on VJ and at CFL, I have never neard of this. I have heard of the Consulate calling to verify an address to send the P3. After the P3 has been recieved and returned, the Consulate will send the the P4, with a letter that gives the intervew date. The interview date is generally about 1 month from the time she gets the P4, sometimes a bit earlier.
-
From NVC to Consulate receiving was about 6 weeks. Then it took almost 2 weeks before my wife got the P3. This seems to be about the average now in Guangzhou. Based on this, your husband should be getting the P3 about the first part of September. Thank God yours was not one of the apllications that sit at USCIS for six months last year. There are many that had to endure this ghastly wait. Be thankful that you are as far along as you are and remain confident for your husband. With any luck at all, you should have an October interview date! Rely on the support of the members here at VJ. We have all felt what you are feeling now. Everyone here will do all they can to help you through this time.

Have faith! The consulate in Guangzhou is moving along much faster than in the past. Take a look at my timeline. I was prepared for much longer times and we were so surprised and pleased by how fast things have been going. Remain confident. When did your papers leave NVC? Have you tracked them on DHL?

One thing you must learn during this process, is patience. More so with Guangzhou than with most consulates. Our application seems to have went through parts of the process faster than average and we are grateful for this.
My wife was not called or notified before getting the P3. She was concerned because many do get a phone call from the consulate, confirming the address.
I have had great luck with calling DOS. Each time I was able to talk to a live persin, they were polite, cheerful and gave me the information on our application and where it was in the process.

As you can see from my timeline, I filed March 6th. I got the NOA2 on May 9th. The petition was sent to Guangzhou, where is sits waiting for the consulate to pick up! My petition is a K3, so I do not know if this makes a difference.

Well, I was postive! Thanks!

Yesterday, I finally got through to a real, live person at NVC! She was very nice and told me that our I-129 had been sent and gave me the case number. My hat is off to this lady.
I have been able to track the package through the DHL website and even was able to sign-up for email alerts on the package's progress. Next stop, Guangzhou, China.
When we began this process in March, I was not very positive. With the long delays from last year, I was sure it would be 6 or 8 months before we were this far along in the process.
I know this is just part of the process, but each step gives me hope. I have to have this hope and faith, it is the only thing that keeps me from going crazy.
I told my Mary that this process is like eating a cow. You cannot eat a cow in one meal. This made her laugh. But now, I feel as if we have eaten about half the cow!
Good luck to those of you that are still waiting. It seems as if things are beginning to move along a lot faster now. Have faith!

Maybe someone who has recently submitted a P3 to Guangzhou can answer a question for me. Which Affidavit of Support Form does the Consulate there send with P3? Is it the I-134 or the I-864?
Our applications were just approved by USCIS and I am trying to have everything ready to send to my wife. We want to send everything back to Guangzhou the day we get the P3. Thier website states that it is the I-134, but I have read elsewhere that it is the I-864.
Just trying to save some time. We do not want to wait ONE DAY longer than we have to!
-
Today, I recieved an email notice that both I-129F and I-130 were approved! I know this is just another step, but I could not be any happier at this moment. We did not have any touches prior to this. The online case status was changed to APPROVED on both applications.
After reading the email that said the notice was mailed May 9th, I rushed to the post office to see if by some miracle the postal service had delivered the hard copy, but no luck. You can bet that I will be checking several times a day for the next few days.
Congratualtions to all the others who have recieved thier NOA2. For those of you who are still waiting, please have faith, do not lose hope!
My thoughts and prayers go out the victims of the earthquake in China. I pray that the loved ones and families of all those on VJ are safe.

There are a lot of us out here that believe that if a K3 is even a LITTLE faster than a CR1, IT IS WORTH IT! I do not care that we have to adjust status, pay more money and fill out more forms. I want my wife and daughter here with me.

Does anyone know where I can get books, or CDs, or computer programs to help my wife and daughter learn English? We are stiil in the early stages of the visa process, but she is anxious to try to improve her English. Not only for when she arrives here, but for her interview. There are schools that teach English where she lives, but are very expensive and very far away in the city. (URUMQI)
I thought is I could locate some books, or something, I could send then to her. Any ideas?
You might try Rosetta Stone. Classes really are important though. How do you communicate now?
She can speak a little English, But here is an amazing thing. She can read and write English. Anytime we had a problem with the spoken word, she would ask me write it down on paper. She would then reply, by writing. On my two trips to China, we filled about 3 notebook, (AND SEVERAL DOZEN NAPKINS). She works for a company that ships things all over the world, so she deals in many languages, but mostly English.
We talk each day on the web, once again by writing. Sometimes, she uses an electronic translator, for unfamiliar words.

I am a police officer. State, County and Local police cannot enforce immigration laws. (If we could, there pobably would not be 20 million ILLEGAL immigrants here!)
If we have reason to arrest someone who we suspect may be an illegal immigrant, we MUST notify ICE agents to investigate the status of the person.
If your husband has a driver's license issued by the state you live in, he does not have topresent anything else. IF NOT, tell him not to drive! In most states, you can be arrested for this. Then he would be taken to jail and ICE would then be notified. Trust me, ICE is very busy with much more than someone like your husband.

Hey Lurking,
Hang in there! I have been reading this since you started and I have enjoyed it very much. I have loved how all these people have berated and critized you. But, you stood your ground and had FAITH. I too have had faith and will continue to believe that the I-129's will be approved and my wife and step-daughter will be with me soon. If I did not have this faith, I would go crazy. So, for me and my wife, Mary, THANK YOU!

We are still waiting on our NOA2 and are hopeful that will happen soon. I want to go and be with my fiancée at the interview even though I can not go in it will give her morale support to know I am close by. I am wonder how much time to they give you when they notify you of your interview. Is it days, weeks or months? It will be hard to request a vacation, apply for visa and purchase plane tickets on a moment notice.
Once you recieve the NOA2, it will be sent to the NVC. After processing at NVC, it will be shipped to Consulate in Guangzhou. Your SO will get a Packet 3. She must complete and return this to the Consulate. Aftter processing the Packet 3, the Consulate will send Packet 4 and a letter of invitation for the interview. The interview is generally 30 days from then. The Guangzhou Consulate generally takes 4 to 5 months from recieving paperwork to interview. So, you have a lot of time, but you do not know the interview date for sure until you get Packet 4.

Hi everybody!
I am struggling with the relationship proof affidavits for I-130. Do they have to be notarized? Has anybody successfully used non-notarized affidavits? Do they have to be notarized by an American notary?
Thank you!
I was married to my wife in China on February 1, 2008. I had here get members of family to write affidavits, as well as others who attended the wedding. They were notarized by Chinese notary. I hsd some from people here in the U.S.complete letters too. they signed in front of notary here.
Is the notary required? Probably not, but what can it hurt! The people who know you and love you are willing to help. JUST be sure to have them include all the information, such as name, address, etc. on letter. Good luck!

I am about send in a I-130 application for my wife. I have some questions someone may be able to help me with.
1) My wife has a 13 year old daughter, do I need to file a SEPERATE I-130 for the daughter?
2) If I need to file the I-130 for the daughter, does it go with my wife's I-130?
3) If I do NOT need a seperate I-130 for the daughter, do I need to include the daughter's G-325 with my wife's I-130 or do I wait until I send the
I-129?
4) On the I-130 form, Section D, Question 1, do I put the dughter's name here, even if I am not sending an I -130 for the daughter?
5) If I have to file a sperate 1-130 for the daughter, does it require an additional $355 fee?
Thanks for any help any of you may be able to give me.
I have been filling out forms, reading government websites and getting certified documents every spare minute of every day for weeks. And I know this is only the beginning!
I-485 Part 2
in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas
Posted
I am completeing the I-485 for my wife and step-daughter for AOS and I am not sure which box to check in Part 2. They arrived in the country on on a K3 visa. Sometimes the language on these government forms confuses me. At first, I thought it would be the first box, but the more I read it, the less it sounds like our situation. My next thought was to check the Other box and wtite in K3 Visa.
Any ideas?
