my fiance was at the consulate at 6am and was not called till 1050am to the window. The prescreener was overwhelmed with the evidence she kept telling my fiance its too much documents.

The CO was nice, he asked how long my fiance has known me, He had looked into our album and documents and stated he has seen everything and it looked good.

He also asked does he have any family here in the US. Whether they get along with my family? He has about the phone records, he stated he do make alot of calls and he asked my fiance about his phone number and if i had any other relatives in Ghana and he said yes. Because i was born and raised in Ghana. The CO stated we have overwhelming evidence and he is approved...

  5. Hi VJ family sorry i havent posted since my husbands approval on Jan 11-10. its been crazy!! but finally good news. He was told to return and pick up his visa on Jan 22-10 only to be told that he needed to complete the DS230 form again, because they misplaced it somehow. Even though he signed page 2 during his interview, they lost the form. so my husband spent 2 hours trying to complete a government form, that he was not at all familiar with or even knew the answers too. for example, my parents date of birth, place of birth, etc. he had to call me at 230am to get this information.

after he finally completed the form, they told him they had to give him a new date to come back and pick up his visa (Feb 5-10). we were both so upset about this, i was even more upset when i realized what form it was!! because he had his file with him, with all of the copies of every form inside. he never thought to look inside his files. The DS-230 form, he had it with him all the time. However, even if he had given them his copy, they needed time to process it again. he was dissapointed in himself.

so thankfully all went well when he returned to the embassy on Friday feb 5-10, he received his visa!! I thought he would be jumping for joy, but he was so cool and calm, and emotionally devasted by this entire ordeal. we're both so happy this is over. I just want to thank my VJ family for your hugs and support.

Im so grateful to all of you. now i have to prepare for his arrival, im looking for the best airfares from ghana to sanfrancisco. i didnt realize one way fares were more expensive than round trip. pray for me.

Thanks to all of you who responded to my post, as some of you know, this is not an easy process, for some embassies its a nightmare. However, im grateful that my husband had a nice CO, and a calm interview. he said the worst part was waiting.

As promised i will post the details of his interview at the Ghana Embassy, ive been so busy, that i havent had the time. I know that posting will help others that have to go thru that embassy. i will try and post in a few days.

Again Thanks for your kind words and Congrats. Van

Hi VJ Family well my time is approaching. my husbands interview is tomorrow morning at 7:30am. Weve prayed and left it in Gods Hands.

Im knowing that all is in divine order. Of course at the last minute i realized some things i should have done differently.

I sent NVC 2008, 2007, 2006 1040 tax returns, 1099's and w2s as my proof of income and support. this was accepted with no problems. I did NOT send in IRS TRANSCRIPTS for these years. I also sent my husband the same documents to take on his interview tomorrow. Does anyone know if this will cause a problem during the interview. If he only has my tax forms and NO TRANSCRIPTS FROM IRS. This is causing me last minute stress. Ive read where some of you sent in TRANSCRIPTS with your tax returns. should i worry at this point. Please pray for our successful interview tomorrow at the GHANA EMBASSY!!!!!. Van.

  13. HI DEAR,

I BOUGHT A DIVIDER WITH TABS THAT YOU CAN LABEL WITH A ZIPPER TO SECURE THE DOCUMENTS. ITS AT WALMART IT ONLY COST LIKE I THINK $12.00. IT REALLY LOOKS LIKE A LAPTOP CASE WHEN IT'S ZIPPED UP BUT IT'S REALLY A DIVIDER IT'S REALLY NEAT. THAT IS WHAT I GOT FOR MY FIANCE. YOU MIGHT WANT TO GET ONE OF THOSE. THERE ARE TABS UP AT THE TOP, THAT WAY IF YOU ARE TO LABEL IT, HE CAN EASILY KNOW WHAT IS IN EACH SECTION OF HIS DIVIDER. AND BE ABLE TO GET TO FASTER IF THE CO REQUEST FOR ANYTHING. :star:

    GOOD LUCK!

Thank you so much for your reply, i will go to walmart after work, to see if i can find it, ive already sent his documents but i will send him this divider to place everything in. we still have lots of time. thanks again, Van

  14. Hi VJ family, for those of you that have interviewed at the ghana embassy, how did you present your documents. what did you use to hold your tax forms, emails, phone records, photos and evidence in. i sent everything to my husband in a 1.5inch 3ring flexible binder. ( LOTS OF PAPER!!!) i divided each section with plastic dividers and labeled each section.

im having second thoughts, if the consular wants him to remove documents, it would be easier and faster from an accordion type of file. It looks nice and neat in the binder, however, will it be accesible if they want something quickly. i dont know??? what did you guys do, help a sister out. i just want everything to go smooth. did you use a 3ring binder or accordion file, or something else all together. thanks for your help. Van

  16. Hi VJ family, im gathering all of my email, copies of text msgs, and phone logs from PINGO and AT&T.

No JOKE i have 2 years worth of phone logs. its such a large stack of paper, and this is not counting the other documents i have to send. my husband HATES GOING to the cafe, weve talked on the phone everyday sometimes twice a day since we met in 2007, so i dont have many emails. i have lots of text msgs from him and his family members that ive included as evidence. Im putting everything in a notebook binder. ( is this ok, or does someone have a better suggestion)

should i send 2 years worth of phone logs? im trying to figure out a way to not send over a 100 sheets of phone logs. what did you guys do as far as phone records, how did you slim it down?

As evidence ive included the following:

    1. airline ticket stubs from my trips to ghana,

    2. wedding photos, photos with family members, hotel receipts, wedding ring receipt, wedding invitations.

    3. anniversary card sent from my husband, birthday cards sent from his family members, "i saved the cards and the mailing envelopes" fedex receipts from gifts i mailed to his family in ghana.

    4. letters confirming hes been added to my health and life insurance policies.

    5. copy of medical card, 2 notarized letters written by my daughter and best friend to verify the marriage

Also in his package i made copies of all INS, and NVC documents, 3years of taxes, recents pay stubs, etc. i had him to update his police report, its only good for 6months. even though they should have these documents at his interview, i made an extra copy for him to have just in case they CLAIM they dont have something.

So How do I look!!!! please feel free to add any suggestions. i need your help to minimize these phone logs. Oh!! im going to FedEx these documents to him, thats why i have to be careful with the weight of the packet. Thanks for your help. Van

  17. Hi VJ Family, my husband went on tuesday to have his physical done, our interview is Jan 11-10. My husband was able to have everything done

at Holy Trinity Clinic. Chest xray, blood work, vaccinations and physical. he paid about $360.00 total. im feeling uneasy about this because i received the information that one must go to Medlab for the blood work, and Akai house for the vaccinations, and you can have the physical and chest xray done at Holytrinity. what worries me is that my husband only had 3 or 4 shots, and the travel.state.gov website printout has about 15 vaccinations listed. i think it was great and very convenient that he was able to do everything there. but im concerned if 3-4 shots were enough.

has anyone else had their physical done in the last month at Holy Trinity. were you able to have all the testing done there. I plan to call HolyTrinity in the morning to confirm. thanks everyone. Van

i had my medicals done at holy trinity last month and is not true that you have to have your blood work ,physical exams done at a particular clinic or lad i had all my blood work ,x ray, vaccinations and physical done at holy trinity clinic .with the vaccination they will give you 4 shots and a month later , if you are still in the country you will return for another 2 shots you will then pay 20 ghana cedis fo those 2 shots.

thanks so much for your reply, i can relax now.

  19. Hi VJ Family, ive finally received an interview date for my husband Jan 11-2010 at the Ghana embassy in Accra Ghana. I received the email from NVC on Thursday Dec 3-09 at 3:29pm. I have waited for tooooooo Long. I've been waiting since my approval april 22-09. I was hoping we would be together for Christmas, but im greatful to God, for receiving a date.

Ok you Ghana VJ members CR-1s who have had a succesful interview, help a sister out. Im gathering all docs, but any pointers you may have, please send me an email. Any tips you may have, will help a lot of us who've been waiting a long time. Thanks to those of you who kept me in your prayers, ( you know who you are ) :star: Thanking you in advance. Van

  20. Hi Marcus Congratulations on your interview date. Marcus im confused, i was under the impression that the NVC assigns the interview dates and NOT the ghana embassy. Every month i call the visa center, and they tell me The ghana embassy does not schedule for interviews. the ghana embassy gives the NVC a certain number of dates, and the Visa center emails or contacts the applicants with the interview dates. only K1 visas are called by the embassy directly. your time line says youre cr-1.

My second question is how were you and your wife able to get an interview ahead of myself and others whos case was completed before yours. my case was completed by NVC in april 22. according to your timeline NVC completed your case in june. im sure you can understand my concern. especially when NVC tells us the interviews are assigned according to when your case was completed. they say its computer generated.

did you expedite your case? im just trying to understand this. im very frustrated by the wait time, as you can imagine, its nothing personal to you or your spouse. ive actually been thinking theyve lost my case or something, LOL. they say the same thing every month. that my case was completed in april, and they are waiting to assign me an interview date, according to the ghana embassy capacity.

so can you enlighten me on how you were called by the ghana embassy to come in and pick up your packet. thank you so much. Again congratulations and good luck!!!! Van

  21. Hi again, well its the 2nd week of september, im hoping for an interview date this month. i was approved April 22-09, waiting for the GHANA EMBASSY to issue a date. i just dont understand why its taking so long. I followed the timeline of the others ahead of me, and their interviews were within 4months of their NVC approval date.

What should i do , what can i do. NVC says they receive a certain amount of interview dates directly from the embassy and it goes in order of your approval date. so i guess there are people who were NVC approved in Feb/March that are still waiting. i cant tell from looking at the other VJ members timelines.

has anyone else had to wait over 4months for an interview date. what should i do???. thanks for any replies. congratulations to those of you with recent approvals and interview dates. Good Luck.
