I met fiancé on a online game called Ultima Online. We became quick friends and we found ourselves spending all of our time on the computer & phone talking to each other. After a year he came down to visit me for a week, which turned into a 6 month stay. He went home for Christmas that year, and returned in February. He stayed again until Christmas and went home for an entire year looking for work in Canada.
We spent our first Christmas together this year and we are inseparable. We want to start to plan our future together and start to take the steps necessary for him to have permanent residence here so he can work. I recently stumbled across this board trying to make sense of the fiancé visa.
Truthfully I had no idea how difficult this was going to be, and not only that, that my fiancé will have to go home because he may overstay his time in America. It’s just breaking my heart because I feel like he needs to go home right away now and that it could be a year or more before we can be together again. I am also just sick to my stomach thinking that we may have unknowingly botched up his chances on gaining entry by not getting permission for him to stay, and that he may have stayed here over 6 months at a time.
I hope that we can figure things out soon. I’m terrified we will be rejected and I just feel sick about it all.
