Oh no! Sorry to hear that! You can still travel since you have your visa on hand.

Has the US embassy in Ethiopia started sending UK for those cases DQ in early 2021? Any updates are well appreciated

    Hello Kanke

I don’t know about UK sending documents for interview to US embassy in Ethiopia, but the US is sending those who are  DQ in October 2020.

I’m not really sure which section to post this in, so I’m going with here.

    We are in Ethiopia.

I got an email from NVC saying our expedite case was approved (finally!). It also said it could take up to 2 weeks for the file to be transferred.

We were planning a trip abroad for Easter in 3 weeks, but now I’m nervous about the timing of everything and wondering HOW QUICKLY they will schedule an interview from the time NVC sent the file. Do we need to cancel our trip or is it going to take something like 6 weeks or more?

    Hello MeliA,

Congratulations on your visa approval. I also expedited mine for spousal visa case, but at the time the nvc  said the embassy there was not working and the nvc kept my request. Did you resubmitted yours or how did they accept it?

    Again, congrats!

    Hi,

I just submitted the application and the required documents to the nvc through the ceac online portal. I wanted to understand what is the processing time for this. Meaning how long will it take for the nvc get back with an approval, sending the docs to the embassy and providing the interview date. Also do we schedule the date ourselves or is it provided to us by the nvc? And what is the current schedule liken?

I am from Pakistan and I am married to a US citizen.

Would appreciate a detailed response since I am completely in the dark currently.

I don’t know about if the US embassy in Pakistan is processing the visa interview, but like my case, the NVC approved my documents more than three months ago and ready to forward to the US Embassy in Ethiopia however Ethiopia is in unstable condition. So I have to wait for an unknown months May be longer…

Check  your case on cease website often. Good luck!

Thank you for the information. A person who is working in the embassy  also told to a friend that they may start processing visas starting Next Week. But do not take my word as things are either not true or decision are changing frequently. Anyway, fingers crossed.

    Hello there,

Would you please share if you hear any more information you will receive.
    Thank you very much!

Oh, did someone actually respond to you at the email? I still haven't gotten one. But yes, NVC told me the same thing.

This is what they replied to me within the same day of my email request:

“Thank you for contacting the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa.

According to our records, the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa has not received the files from the National Visa Center (NVC).  You can verify this by visiting the following website:  https://ceac.state. gov/CEACStatTracker/Status. aspx.  The following will provide you with more information concerning the scheduling process after all necessary fees have been paid and the required immigrant visa application, Affidavit of Support, and supporting documents submitted.

Once the case becomes qualified for an interview, NVC will work with the U.S. Embassy to schedule an appointment for the beneficiary. An interview appointment letter is sent to the applicant, the petitioner, and agent/attorney (if applicable) to notify all parties of the date, time, and location of the interview. There may be a wait of several months for an interview date to become available. Once an interview appointment is scheduled, NVC sends the immigrant visa petition, visa application, and all related forms and documents which were submitted to NVC to the embassy.

When the case is qualified for interview, the case will be forwarded to the embassy by NVC

emailed using the above address to the US embassy in Ethiopia, Adis Ababa. They said they haven’t received my expedite request from nvc that I requested back in November, 2021. The nvc also said that since the us embassy in Ethiopia suspended the visa processing, there’s no where to send my request 😭😭

I feel so terribly sad 😞
