  1. hi. i havent been posting for quite some time. i actually havent been able to do much a few days after arriving in the us. i met accident and i now have two fractures and a dislocation. i need surgery so im still in a temporary splint because i cannot have my operation until my husband's insurance at work kicks in two weeks. otherwise, we'd have to pay 13K for the surgery alone. anyway, we still have the exorbitant hospital bill to take care off - the ER, ambulance ride, doctor's fee, etc. which isn't covered by insurance. this really bites. im typing real slow with my left hand right now since my right arm is immobilized. and im right handed! heheh. i will be having a permanent implant and 2 metal plates. now i can call myself a bionic woman. heheh. what i'm really amazed at is how efficient the system is in here. a few minutes after the accident, police cruisers, a fire truck and an ambulance were already at the scene.

my question is, can we postpone applying for AOS? the hospital bill is weighing us down since it wont be covered by the insurance. how long can we put it off? should we contact USCIS and tell them about the accident?

I'm so sorry to hear of your accident. We wish you a speedy recovery. You seem to have regained some sense of humor. You will need that to get well sooner. Health care is good here, but it also costs a lot... more than many people realize. Hang in there and take each day one at a time until you are healed. I brought my wife home to Anchorage (finally!!!) just this past Tuesday. The first thing I did today is apply for health insurance until the insurance is in place at my new job.

I believe you have until your K-3 visa expires to apply for AOS. So you have some time. Again, take care and keep up the good spirits.

  2. muddyak, let your wife know that the us embassy in manila does not accept handwritten forms anymore. she has to fill out the forms online as a pdf file before printing it. God bless.

Hi there! muddyak, Are you under CR1? With CR1, NVC?consulate will do the scheduling of your wife's interview. But your wife will fill up online forms, packet 4 is now downloadable.

Hi there daisychain, I received my appointment letter while i was talking with the call center agent. I was online when I made the call so I saw when the email got through.

    Goodluck to both of you.

    P.S.

During my interview, some applicants filled up the forms manually, handwritten. The clerks accpeted them. But it's still better to do it computer-printed, more presentable.

Daisychain, I'm so happy to hear you got the letter. I wish to thank everyone as well. We have applied for the K3 visa. My wife called again this morning and received an appointment for August 4. They were prompt with the verification letter.

  3. muddyak, i didn't even wait for packet 3 and 4 to arrive. the call center agent said it isnt necessary to wait for packet 3 to arrive before setting up the interview. the packet 3 contains the instructions of how to set up the interview. packet 4 is available online. the 2 DS documents required are available online.

chris-lei, did you immediately receive the confirmation email after setting up the interview?

Thank you. I will have my wife call again Monday. The operator she spoke to at the call center would not set up the interview and told her she needed to wait for the packet. I guess it depends on which individual you speak with.

  4. I set up my interview late this afternoon. I'll be having my medical soon but I need the visa appointment letter supposedly e-mailed to me by the person I talked to. It's been a couple of hours and I still haven't received anything. She even told me "the email has already been sent" right after I set up the appointment. I'm reluctant to call again because it's so expensive! It'd cost around P150/3 mins! Has anyone had a similar experience? Did you get the visa appointment letter in the email immediately after you called? Also, my case hasn't even appeared yet in the USEM visa appointment interview database.

Congratulations! The USEM has had our paperwork since July 3. My wife called the call center Monday July 7 and they told her she must wait to make an appointment until she receives the packet in the mail. As of today she has still not received it.

I'm sure your letter will arrive soon. Good job getting the interview appointment and good luck with everything.

  5. I think we should all share our experience in this how the NVC schdule the interviw date,,,,,why some case just interviw date faster than other!!!!!!!share your experience please

It would also be nice to know how the application is sent from CIS to the NVC. Many applicants whose applications were approved after mine have interviews scheduled. I called the NVC tonight, six weeks to the day the application for the visa was approved, and they say they haven't received it yet.

  6. Hey guys,

Just wondering if me and andrew can go to hawaii for our honeymoon? i heard that i cant leave the states before all y paperwork comes through but as its in the USA im thinkin it might be ok?

could anyone conform this becasue i wanna be absolutley certain.

    Thanks

Absolutely!! You can also come to Alaska if that were your choice.

  7. Okay, i typically check the status of my husband's I-130 every morning but for some reason through out the day i do the same thing. I know it is irrational because i signed up for email notification but i just cannot help it.

I am still checking mine even though our I-130 and I-129F were approved May 9 (We received the approved NOA2s). I signed up for email notification. I did not receive email notification nor has the portfolio been updated to reflect the approvals...only touched twice since. I know the email works as they notified me when I changed my password. I just hope they sent the applications to the NVC. As of today, the NVC has no record of them. I'm a little concerned, we have waited so long.
