Hi Rio friends, feeling kind of crazy right now. Did you schedule your ASC appointments online along with your interviews? If so, did you receive a I-797C notice in the mail confirming the date you'd scheduled? How did this get handled at your ASC appointment? My fiance has his ASC appointment in about 2 hours (and his interview tomorrow) and we're only just now realizing that the I-797C biometrics interview scheduling is a separate form and isn't his email confirmation of his appointment, so we're a bit panicked. :(

The I-797C is the Approval Notice that you received from the USCIS for your I-129F Petition. My fiancée only needed her DS-160 Confirmation along with her passport for the biometrics appointment at the ASC.

The confirmation for the biometrics appointment at the ASC and the interview appointment at the US Consulate can be found here under Print Instructions after signing in and clicking Continue.

When you schedule your interview, you select the delivery method. I believe you can pick it up at the Consulate in Rio, have it delivered to your home or pick it up at one of the ASC (Applicant Service Centers).  We chose to pick ours up at the ASC in Sao Paulo.

@Ana & TJ how long after going into ISSUED were you able to pick up your visa from the ASC? Did you receive an email notifying you that it was ready for pickup?

You are an ANGEL, I'm going to cry!!! We got a spot for the 8th and were able to FINALLY get a cash payment to work (literally every credit card I tried was declined, including ones with travel notices... but we managed to do a wire transfer and then pay cash). Such a relief. THANK YOU!!! ❤️❤️❤️

You're welcome! I'm glad that you were able to schedule your interview! I'm sorry that you had to deal with all of those challenges.

Now you can update your timeline! 😁

I'm so happy for you!!! ❤️ And thank you for the quote notification, I got into the system and tried to schedule but my card was declined. :( By the time I got off the phone with my bank to unfreeze my card (because they declined it for fraud since it's a Brazilian payment... whoops) the site was already out of appointments. RIP. I'll keep my eye open for the next round of openings!!

    Thank you, @ori8❤️

I'm very sorry that you were unable to schedule your appointment today. 💔 I hope some more appointments become available for you soon. If I happen to see any, I will definitely let you know.

Might be good to put a Brazilian travel notice on your card for the next few weeks to ensure that your next attempt is accepted! ✈️ I don't know if it would work, but I think it might! 🤑

Question on scheduling, has anyone dealt with "No appointments available" before and if so how long did it take for appointments to show up? We've been checking regularly for 4 business days now and nothing has come up yet.

@ori8 We just scheduled our interview for 01 FEB 2022! There were only 2 other time slots available. I hope you're able to grab one of them!!

Just an update for those still going through this process in Rio and are looking for more info...

The US consulate in Rio received my application from NVC on Sept 30th, I waited for two weeks without any feedback from them. Following the suggestion of other members here, I submitted an e-mail to the embassy and 3 days later I got the instructions for the next steps (at first we just got an automated response). So thank you @p_marv and @Gauchos for the great suggestion!!

Regarding the medical exam, I called the doctor's office in Belo Horizonte without any luck. The number ending in 3938 would not even ring. The number ending in 2335 would always just say they were busy. I tried for 3 days at various times and I couldn't reach them. I also submitted an email to them and did not get a response. Since I am from BH, I ended up stopping by the office to make the appointment (which I understand is definitely not an option for most people). Talking to the secretary, we found out that my e-mail was marked as spam and that is why she did not respond to it. So I believe the best way to reach them is through e-mail and, if you don't get a response within one or two days, just send them another e-mail.

Also, the medical office requested that I sent the consulate instructions e-mail as well as the consulate interview confirmation e-mail in order to book my medical appointment date.

In the instructions for the medical exam in BH, they state that the fiancé needs to be fully vaccinated against covid for them to release the medical exam.

Thank you for sharing all of this info, @dfmag!

When I was trying to schedule, I had a problem with the website constantly crashing saying they were doing maintenance. When I finally could look at the schedule, the months of November and December had no dates, but January had 3 dates available. I didn't experience this '"No appointments available" message.

    1. Thank you for the info, @dfmag! @ori8, we are experiencing the same issue. Please let us know if you find an available appointment time! We will do the same.

    Good evening, everyone!

Thank you for supporting one another and sharing all of this information! ❤️

    Some questions for the group:

    1. How was your process with scheduling your appointments on the U.S. Visa Appt. Service Website? Were there available appointment times when you attempted to schedule & pay the fee? How long did you have to wait for appointments to become available?

    2. Were you required to already have a scheduled interview appointment date when attempting to schedule the medical exam?

    2. Found the answer on the Rio De Janeiro, Brazil U.S. Consulate Info page under the Additional Info? section.

Thanks, that's helpful! The doctor called my fiancee and let her know the day before the interview that she could send the medical without being fully vaccinated. We were 'Refused' on Nov 1 immediately after the interview. Nov 4 the date updated on CEAC, but still refused. I assume that means they received the medical on that day. I really, really hate seeing that word every time I check.

Check out this page that details the "Refused" status. Hope it puts your mind at ease!
