  1. I got approved on Jan. 14, 2008 and got my welcome letter in the mail on Jan. 25th. However, I have yet to get my green card. I called customer service and they told me that they would resend it and I would get it within 30 days. However, I get a letter today saying the post office did not return it as undeliverable, therefore, I have to file an I-90. Knowing this is stressing me OUT! How long will that take??

My lawyer is of no help. He just instructed me to do that I-90 and it really upsets me. He said it will take 4.5 months to receive it. All plans I had to travel out the country this summer are clearly out the window :-(. PLUS I gotta pay the fee.

Could take 6 months.... see my signature for my dates

    Kez

OH NO!! 6 months?? My EAD expires in October. Does that mean I wont have proof or work? Esp. since my EAD was taken from me at the interview. :-(

  4. I had my interview on January 14th, and was verbally approved. The next day, I got the email welcoming me and saying card production was ordered. However, I have yet to get the card in the mail. My lawyer called them and they told him to call after it's officially been 60 days before submitting an inquiry. He was told that the backlogged system probably caused it, but I've seen that a lot of people have received their cards. I wonder whats the hold up with getting mine.

  5. Great suggestion. I just made Infopass appointment. Thanks again!

I was approved for my GC on Jan, 14th at the interview and I received my "welcome" letter Jan. 24th but I have yet to receive my GC. My lawyer called them because it is over the 30 day period they indicated. He was told that because of the triple amount of applications USCIS has gotten, there is a delay and no inquiry can be filed until 60 days has passed. Do I'm waiting too.

  6. Hey guys. So the big day is a mere 48 hours away and obviously I am beyond nervous. For most of us, this is the biggest interview we'll ever go on because our lives with our loved ones hang in the balance. That being said, I have always been one to over-prepare, so here's what I'm bringing. Please leave me your thoughts and/or suggestions.

    1. Everything on the interview letter (passports, driver license, USCIS documents, birth certificates, etc)

    2. Reciepts and copies of most (couldnt find all of them) of my travels to Montreal to see Lisa. That includes bus tickets and plane tickets.

    3. Reciepts and copies of most (couldnt find all of them) of Lisa's travels to NYC to see me. Includes her first visit, and last visit (with return ticket never used). Buses and airplanes.

    4. Wedding - Our marriage certificate, receipt of engagement ring and wedding bands, wedding cards from friends and family.

    5. Honeymoon - Plane tickets, receipts of a few things we bought (didnt save them all)

    6. Taxes/Paystubs - Letter from employer, paystubs from the last 3 months (printed online since my company doesnt give out stubs to people with direct deposit anymore), W-2's from 2005, 2006, and 2007.

    7. Joint assets - Phone bill, 2 checking accounts, 1 savings account, lease, invoice from the vet for our dog with both our names and address

    8. Various things - Some hotel receipts from Montreal, dinner receipts. Aside from printing out a bank statement showing all the money I spent in Montreal, that's pretty much all I have.

    9. Photos - Wedding album, Honeymoon album, and about 50 various pictures of us from the span of our relationship.

I have tons of emails that could be printed out, and I used to leave her a letter everytime I left to come back home that and she saved all of those. Should we bring those too?

    How's my evidence look? Thanks!

I think you'll be fine. Good luck!!!

  7. Thank you. I tried to open a bank account today and the number came back invalid. So either they haven't updated it yet or I need to get the restrictions removed.

When I first got my SSN, I wasn't able to open my bank acct b/c they hadn't gotten the updates of new numbers from SSA. You will have to wait about a month before trying to open major accounts, credit cards, etc. It's annoying, but I just had to wait it out.

  8. Our interview is on Monday, and we have:

--- 3 months worth of bank statements showing our joint acct.

    --- Joint credit card

    --- Few pictures (about 25)

--- 6 affidavits from friends and family (including our landlord, who is my hubby's cousin. We dont have a lease b/c he is family)

--- Light light bill w/ his name on it

--- Cable bill has both our names on it.

--- A copy of my emergency contact form at work showing he is my contact, and a job letter saying I don't have benefits

--- A letter from his employer saying he has asked for me to be put as beneficiary on his insurance and benefits (only problem is that it was sent to his mother's house b/c the mail at our house is too volatile)

--- Cards we've sent each other throughout the years

I truly hope this is enough. We are both young (and broke) so we dont own a lot of property. I also just got my social security number so we haven't been able to get a lot of things until recently. I hope its sufficient. Do you think we have enough???

  9. This is the relationship proof we presented at our AOS interview:

-Affidavits from two friends (one, the maintenance guy from our apartment complex; two, a co-worker of mine, who was present at our civil marriage ceremony)

-PG&E bill with both names on it

-Letter from bank stating we had a joint account

-Letter from bank stating we had a credit card in both names

-Marriage certificate (they asked me for it, though I had included it in the AOS packet!)

-Apartment lease one-year agreement with both names on it

-Photos of our marriage and a few other photos with us together here in USA.

That's it, and we got approved fine! you guys will do fine, best wishes!

We don't have many pictures of us because my hubby HATES taking pictures. Also, we were long distance for 3 years, while I was in college. Do you think this will be a problem?

  10. My interview is coming up in January, and I just wanted to ask ALL those who were approved at their interview to list the EXACT support documents they took to prove their marriage. I'm nervous and just want to see if I have enough stuff.

    So far, we have:

    Joint Credit Card

    Bank statement

    Affidavits from family members

Letter from our landlord, who happens to be my husband's cousin (to serve as lease)

Letter saying my spouse has requested that I be added to his health insurance.

Is this enough?? What did YOU take w/ you?

  11. Ok, so check out my signature to see my timeline. I have a couple of questions. PLEASE HELP.

    1. I am waiting for my EAD and I dont have a SS#. As a result, I haven't been able to get things at home put in my name. I have also been unable to get a joint bank acct OR get on my husband's bank account. So I'm scared that we don't have a lot of evidence to show at the interview (whenever that will be).

    2. We got married in a courthouse (we are both under 25, and are students so we can't afford a big wedding yet). We don't have a big wedding album to show. All we have in photos is the few we've taken over the past 4.5 years (where we look obviously younger (and him about 30 lighter).

Without these, what can we do?? My EAD just got approved and I'm waiting to get it. But I was told our interview may be within the next month or two. If we can't get our financial stuff and a lot of photos, what else can we get for the interview??

I don't have SSN either when i had my interview. My husband tried to put me in his bank account but the bank asked for my SSN. We just submitted the health insurance and my husband's 401K (those documents has both our names on it). Thats it and we didn't have a problem and guess what? the Immigration officer didn't even look at what we submitted.

Oh wow. So what exact evidence did you submit? And how was your interview experience?

  12. i missed my biometrics because my notice was sent back to USCIS. it was stated on the letter that i have to request for rescheduling at USCIS Sacramento tru mail, but i have heard of people who just walk in. is this practical? which is the best time? thanks a lot

I also missed my biometircs appt for the EXACT same reason as you. My notice got sent back to the USCIS. So what I did was I walked in EARLY on a Saturday where there was no one else there, and they did my biometrics. Took about 10 mins. Try that, and GOOD LUCK!!

  13. We opened a joint acct with his ITIN, then I added him as an authorized user on all my credit cards, made copies of the cards side by side, and I used the letters from my employer showing him on my life and dental insurance. We'd been married 3 months at interview time, and our wedding was small at the courthouse, but we had pictures. The IO didn't even ask to see pictures.

    We were fine.

We've been to 2 banks trying to open accts, but my lack of a SS# keeps getting in the way. Also, he wrote to his employer that he'd like me to be on his benefits and insurance. We were given the same response. We live in an apartment owned by his uncle so we don't have a lease. I'm just SOOO worried about all these put together. As soon as I get my SS#, I will run around and try to get what I can.

Please, EXACTLY what evidence did you take with you to the interview?

I had a letter from VZBenefits (my employer) showing that he was a beneficiary to my life insurance, and a dependent on my dental insurance. I didn't need an SSN to add him, I added him online and it said I had to call but I didn't call the benefits hotline because he didn't have an SSN but I didn't call until months later after he'd received his SSN, and at that point I just gave them his SSN and all was well. We also had mail we'd received - addressed to both of us, and stuff addressed to us separately but showing the same address. We also had opened a bank account together - he told them he didn't have an SSN but they told us to "give it to them when [he] had it" (this was at Bank of America) but we then received something saying they needed his SSN or ITIN, since he had an ITIN, we supplied it.

I also had credit cards where I added him as an authorized user, so they sent a card in his name. I made copies of the two cards for each account side by side, which showed the same account number. I also had a cell phone bill showing two lines, only had my name though, but they took it...

and that's really about it, for what the IO took for the file. She didn't even want to look at anything else.

Thanks a lot!! You've been a ton of help. I'm playing the waiting game right now, expecting my EAD so I can go get my SS#. We will get a bank acct together, I'll be on his insurance benefits, and although he lcosed his credit card, maybe he will reopen it and make me an authorized user. Anything else I can possibly get in the meantime, without the SS#?
