Congratulations... Your wife should receive her social security card in a few weeks, my husband arrived to the US in March and the process for us was: Social Security card arrive in 2 weeks, we tried to apply for texas ID or driver's license but he could not get it because he didn't have his permanate visa greencard at that time. (we are still waiting for that) that's another story for us... But things should start to move forward after you receive the Visa in the mail make sure that USCIS has your current address that was my mistake I didn't know which dept sent the greencard so I didn't inform USCIS of our moving and now his greencard is lost. My husband got a job after he received his social security card without the greencard, they accepted his visa in his passport. We are CR-1 as well.
God bless and again congratulatons.

Hello, If your spouse enters on a CR_1 before your 2 year filing anniversary Not marraige but when you filed then you have to apply to life conditions, but you do receive your greencard, its called a 2 yr conditional greencard, if your spouse enters the US after 2 yrs from your filing date, then you don't have to lift conditons once they arrive.. I hope that was helpful, My husband and I will have to Lift conditons in 2010

Hello and Congratulations.. Make sure you inform USCIS of your move, I didn't realize the Green card comes from USCIS I thought it was NVC and now after 3 months my husband still does not have his greencard if you don't inform them of an address change it cost almost 400.00 for a replacement.. God Bless you on your journey.

Angel,
If you look at his stamped visa in his passport you can find the A# listed on it. On the far right hand side under the IMMIGRANT VISA in bold letters is his IV Case number and under that is his A#.
It is listed as Registration Number and at my husband's POE the officer hand wrote the number on his visa after they stamped his POE date. It states the type of visa and the A#.
Hope this helps.
Mary
Thank you so much my husband is so happy now, he thought he would lose his job because of this... You've made his evening.

We filed the CR-1, and my husband is here in Texas, he started working about 3 weeks ago and his boss told him today that when he faxed his information to HR that they needed his A# he hasn't received his greencard in the mail yet, he does have his social security card.... is the A# one of the numbers on the bottom portion of his visa in his passport?. I would appreciate any help you have.... Thanks.... He's been in the US since March 28th. he received his Social security card on April 7th but no Greencard as of yet.
