what phone number do I call to get info on my case? where i get a real person out of cal?

We filed our I-130 on feb 4-2008 and received the letter from them saying they our processing. So then we filed our I-129F on feb 22. Then last week I received a letter from them telling me to go to the local office so they can take my finger print.

Why would they want my finger prints? Has anyone done this before? If so what is the next step?

I would like to know if my pass jail record will cause me not to get my wife here? I never thought something I did 25years ago would stop me from being with my wife but since I have been reading information on line I am very worryed. I love her so much and will move to china if I need to because I can not live with out her. Can you please let me know what you think? I know I must sent a police record and I thinnk a prison record who will this effect us?
