  1. Hi! I need some help or advice about US citizenship.

This is the story, I am a LPR for about 25 years and finally I decided to become a US citizen, so I’m about to send all my paperwork sometime December for my citizenship. I want to bring my family (wife, daughter [15 years old] and son [6 years old]) to the States to finally reside with me. I was married on 1996 and both of my children were born after we were legally married. I filed form I-130 for them as a LPR back in 2005 and finally, they have their appointments at the US consulate at CDJ (Ciudad Juarez, Mexico) in early January 2013, I know it took so long, but that was on my end with the National Visa Center.

Now my question is, what can I do or what do I have to file for my children for them to become US citizen after I become one? I know this will happen probably around spring time on 2013, so by then, they will be here with me as LPR.

Thank you much for your help…

If more info is needed, please let me know, advices are more than welcome.

  2. Hi everyone! and thanx in advance...

Well, this is the issue, my brother in law tried to cross the border from Mexico to the U.S. illegally like 4 or 5 years ago maybe 6 (for sure I know is more than 4 years) he was only like 16 or 17 years old, but he was caught by immigration officers (border patrol) and they took his fingerprints and a photo of his face, then he was sent back to Mexico and he never tried to cross again. Now he wants to get a tourist visa(B1/B2) to visit us because our son is due on January 2012, he is 22 now and he owns his own mechanic shop, and he is register with Hacienda(he pay taxes for his shop) I am familiar with the process and paperwork needed for the visa, because I helped my parents in law two years ago to get theirs, which they got, now I know his case if more difficult to do, and I just want some guidance with the process.

I also want to know how long immigration will keep his fingerprints on their database.

I also know if I am not wrong, that the law is a little different when you still not an adult and got deported from the U.S. (why I’m trying to say that is not that hard to get the visa because he was still considered a child)

I also heard something about that he needs to ask for a forgiveness or pardon, whatever the word is called, it’s like he needs to ask for forgiveness to the U.S.

If more info is needed to help me, feel free to ask.

    Thank you again!

  3. When can I become US Citizen? I received my green card in the mail today. We have been married for 3 years now (officially).

    How hard is the test?

Would you say it is an easier or more difficult procedure to become citizen in comparison with the resident procedure?

When you got your 1st green card, does the expiration date was within 2 years?

Then you removed the conditions and got it for 10 years?

    Thanks!

  4. Hi to all!

Well, i have a few questions, hope you can help...

    1. I am a US citizen, and brought my wife to the US with a K-1 Visa (fiancee visa), she become a permanent resident (green card holder) in July 2010(she got the 10 yrs green card), and she went to Mexico twice already for a month and a half both times, we also are saving her flight tickets, because we know we are going to need them when she applies for citizenship, also I know that if you become a legal resident (green card holder) thru marriage with a US citizen you only have to wait 3 years to become a US citizen, but i heard that you can apply for citizenship if you have already 2 years and half of being a permanent resident.

Is this true? And does any body knows why? I just don't want to mess up things next year when we file for her citizenship.

    2. Once she becomes a citizen, we want to bring my parents in-law to the US, they've been here already, they have a tourist visa, and they are planning to come again by the end of this year because our second child is due on january 2012, but my questions are, do we have to file one I-130 for both parents or do we have to file one for each parent, which also means that we have to pay the fee twice, right? one fee for each of them. Also, will they have their interview the same day? And, can we also send both petitions together? (in case we need to send one for each of them), same envelope but separate, you know just to try to schedule their interview at the same day or time if possible, just to save money on going to the consulate twice, and also any idea how long do the process take?

Thanks to all of you in advance for helping us with this...

if more info is needed to answer my questions, please let me know...

  5. Hello Friends,

I am in very much confusion here. A help is very much appreciated.

When my father (US citizen) filed I-130 back in 2002 for me, I was in India. Now I am in London, UK and also citizen of UK.

Now, my I-130 approved and the case is with NVC. They also allotted a case number which starts with BMB. My father is in US and he got the EOS fees invoice which He paid and started to collect all documents for EOS.

My confusion is : How can I let NVC know that I am in UK and a citizen of UK ? Also, mean time I have 2nd daughter born who is not listed on original I-130 petition filed in 2002. She born in 2009. So Can I just list her name in I-864 Part 3 item 9? Do I need to send any documents to NVC letting them know that I have 2nd child? Also, I would like to have my Visa interview here at London, not in Mumbai. How can I inform NVC about that too?

    Please help.

    Thanks

ok about ur children, u need to send nvc a copy of their birth certificates and about the interview u may need to call them

thanks a lot to all of u guys!!!

Here you can check your fiance packet. It's the same instructions that come in the Packet 3

    Fiancée Packet

    Fee Information, form CDJ 446

    Instructions, form CDJ 400 (Eng/Span)

Statement of Intent to Marry, form CDJ 402

    Form DS-156K

    Form DS-156 (English)

    Form CDJ 430 (Eng/Span)

Medical Examination Instructions, form Mexwide 202 K (Eng/Span)

    Public Charge Information, formOF-167 (Eng/Span)

For the public charge you must fill out the I134 form of affidavir support, ant it didn't come with the instructions.

    RESUME: you need

    --Passport

    --Photos 2"x2" (beneficiary)

    --Birth certificate (beneficiary)

    --the DS156

    --the DS156K

    --statement of intent to marry

--the DS157 for is only for males

--I134 affidavit of support with the 3 last income tax year

    -----Employment letter

--Evidence of oingoing relationship (phone bills, bank account, photos together...)

    Good luck

thanks a lot malego77, very helpful

  8. We recently received our package of interview preparation instructions from the consulate in Mexico and there is no mention of the I-134 form. Instead, they included instructions (Form OF-167 ENG) for providing evidence that my fiancee is not likely to become a public charge. The suggested documents are similar to those mentioned in the Visa Journey guidelines, but there is no mention of the I-134 form itself.

Does anyone know if this form is or is not required at the Ciudad Juarez consulate in Mexico?

hi kjs. we literally got our visa's today. yes. you do need the i134 notarized. you can get it on here or the uscis website.

excuse me, what else do we need, i'm leaving da 21st to juarez and i just want to make sure if i'm not missing something

  10. Ok, the information packet my wife received had a paper version of the DS-156 (its an older, obsolete version, from 2003) that the embassy included in her information packet. She already has the DS156 EVAF she filled out online, printed, signed and ready to go with the barcode and all. Is it ok to submit the EVAF, or must she fill and submit the paper version that she got with the packet (even though it is obsolete).

    Cheers.

I would think that the EVAF should work fine. Our embassy in Mexico specifically requests that the DS-156 version is filled out on line, they only want the DS156 EVAF or else they will not accept our form.

But just to be on the safe side, I would also complete the one the embassy sent out. You never know what trick the embassies have up their sleeves...

    GOOD LUCK URGE....

hi, my fiancee and i are ready to go to ciudad juarez to the consul, do we need to fill out the forms ds 230 and i-134
