  1. for K-1 visa you dont need to have a full medical once you apply for AOS. we just need to do the vaccination part, atleast this is my understanding.

I dont understand why my wife needs go thru this painful process of vaccination when she has already done it once before arriving in US. Now Immigration requires it again. Ok fine we will do it again but then they have this list of civil surgeons and when I called the one nearest to my location they are charging 240 dollars. Please give me some tips on how can i get this I693 form done without paying a high cost to the civil surgeon recomended by USCIS. Thanks.

Hello ayaz...when did your wife have the medical done? I believe that this is only if you apply for AOS AFTER Aug 1, 2008, as per the website: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD

The requirements for these new vaccines went into effect on July 1, 2008, however CDC approved a 30-day grace period for any medical exam conducted before August 1, 2008. At that time the new vaccinations, if appropriate, must be administered in order for USCIS to approve the applicant for adjustment of status.

USCIS has revised the Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record (Form I-693) to include these new vaccination requirements. The June 5, 2008 edition of Form I-693 must be used for any medical examination completed on or after August 1, 2008.

If anyone interprets this differently, please post. Thanks...good luck!

  3. Can anyone please tell me how the interviews are going in Pakistan? Are they tough in the interviews??

I have filed for K3 visa for my husband. We are actually first cousins. So my question is: in the interview when they ask how you met, is it ok to say that we were cousins? I just dont want them to think that just because we are cousins, the marriage is fake or something because its not...

    please helpp

Cousin marriages in pakistan are common. Embassies understand that. I wouldnt worry about it at all.

  4. Hi Everyone,

My fiance received an interview date today. She is scheduled for an anterview on April 29th. it is way sooner than I was expecting. We sent packet 3 only few days back. Hope this will help others get an idea on how fast embassy is working these days.

Congrats ayaz on getting very early interview date.

  5. Gohar sorry to hear about your fiance AP/AR. I hope she gets her visa very soon inshallah. Just curiosity, Did she travel outside the country lately like dubai or middle eastern states?

    asmo

Gohar, Hang in there it will be all fine. Let them do wotever they need to do. These are all security measures they r taking and as long as we have clean records it will be cleared. Please do let us know about the interview questions.

  6. DS-157 is a supplemental form that goes along with DS-156. It is only filled out my male beneficiaries in a particular age range (16-45). I don't think it's talked about much on here because I would guess that the majority of beneficiaries are women, so they don't have to fill it out.

    Read this memo: http://travel.state.gov/visa/laws/telegram...grams_1432.html

Thanks Kid. you are right about that. My fiance is female so although she filled it out but I instructed her not to send it back with the package.

  7. I was wondering if its allowed to travel to US with your fiance once the visa is granted. According to the sample DS 156k form Question 34. it says "Names and relationships of persons traveling with you" and sample form is suggesting to put "none" for that question. So now if you put none then that means no one is traveling with fiance. If you put yes that may voilate the K-1 policies. Please clarify.

  9. Follow Instructions in Packet 3 and 4

After receipt of the approved petition, and when the filing date (priority date) of the petition is reached, NVC forwards a "Packet 3" to the beneficiary, specifying the documents needed and actions that must be taken by the beneficiary and the petitioner prior to issuance of a visa.

After the required documents have been obtained, the beneficiary should sign the reverse side of the Packet-3 letter and send it, as well as Form OF230, to the Embassy’s Consular Section.

The beneficiary, who then becomes the "Applicant," is sent a "Packet 3.5" which consists of information, forms, and requests for documents. When we receive the Packet back from the applicant (through American Express) – with prepaid return) with all the forms completed and all the required documents, we will schedule a visa interview within the next few working days.

Taken from the embassy info on VJ. Follow the link above to "embassy info" and find Pakistan. Each embassy does things a little differently so you want to make sure you follow Pakistan's guidelines and not what other VJ members have experienced at their own embassy.

I'd also suggest posting your question in the regional specific section of VJ. You'll get more specific info from people who've actually been at your embassy. Much more helpful to you!

Good luck, wish I could help more.

    Thanks CBR.

  10. At what stage the following papers are submitted? once u get packet 3.5

    1. Copy of the Approval Notice

    2. Letter of Intent (same as filed earlier but directed to consulate)

    3. Evidence of ongoing relationship.

Packet 3.5 check list does not mentions any of the above. Do we still need to send this out with the packet or take these to the interview?

    Thanks
