For all previous USCIS application, I was ready weeks before it was time to file. My 90 day period has started and I haven't got everything ready yet (I plan to mail it within 2 days). Is Nebraska still experiencing receipt delays, the website says no, but I thought I would ask a more trustworth source. If I don't get a receipt in time, can I still work and if so, how do I prove that to my employer. My British passport expired and I'm not sure when I will be able to renew it. Normally we don't have this much financial trouble, but with Christmas, immigration and illness, stuff just adds up. Basically, I am asking is there a way to keep working without getting a stamp in passport should my reciept not come?

Hi Dakota, long time no see! The others have probably answered your question so I will just agree with them that so long as you file in the 90 day time frame that will be fine. It seems to have been taking about a month from filing on average to receive the NOA1 and getting the check cashed. The NOA1 acts as a 1 year extension to Perm Res card, so I would probably advise that you file at least one month before your card expires if you have a particularly picky employer.

So like many posts I have read on these boards, the new fees are troublesome to pay. So I guess I wanted to get some thoughts on the best way to pay the fees.

My wife (the USC) and I (GC Holder) will nto be able to afford to pay cash/check for it come january 01, the earliest date I can apply. How long can we wait for me to still be able to get the receipt with the year extension on it. I realize what I am asking, I'm not expecting an accurate number here. Just a ballpark. If we could wait till feburay when we have got our tax refund, then that would be good. Mine is the sole income for us at the moment, so my being out of work is our of the questions

Alternatively is there any way to pay for the fees by credit card?

I had a J1 before my K1 also. They just want confirmation that you were not subject to the Home Residency Rule. Make sure to take you DS-2019s as well, look on the back of those forms to see who is subject to HRR.

GREEN CARD ARRIVED!!

I arrived home for lunch, my wife opened the door and waved an enevlope at me, I felt like a kid at Christmas or when I opened my college acceptance letter. The images of all the presidents ont he back is very cool as are the state flags. So is that thing on the back like one big magnetic strip or is it just a hologram??

I used a cover letter for each form and then an overall cover letter. If nothing else it helped as one final checklist that I had everything.

My understanding is you need to go to the social security office with your AOS approval and have them reprint your card without the restricitons. If I am not mistaken MDyoung told Jay Jay a few days back to do this so she will not have any problems later on when she goes to LOC. Good luck.

Once my Conditional GC arrives, can I have the only with INS authorization (I have an old SS card) or do I need to wait until I lift conditions. Common sense tells me that I am a permanent resident now and so can have it removed. But I just wanted to check so I didn't waste a trip to the SS office. Thanks for your help!

I think I saw your officer, she was the one who got the couple with one of them in the Bathroom. They were right before us. If one of them hadsn't been in the bathroom, we would have probably gotten her just because of the timing. That couple had very good proof, a cute and very new baby!

For AOS, the 13 digit number on the back of the check can be different to the one on the Notice itself. Also the system/database that generates the reciept number and holds your information is different ot the one the online case status website pulls from. I don't know if they have to input it into both systems separately or if you just have to wait for them to be synchronised. Either way it can take a few days or even weeks for you too see anything online for AOS.

AOS receipt numbers can take a few days, even a few weeks to register on the online status system. It is a different database to the one that generate the notices and is used day to day.
