  1. Well I adjusted from F-1 and everything went well. Graduated in May of 05 and did not get married until 2007. Officially became out of status in May of 2006 because I did get OPT. I was out of status for 13 months when I sent in my application. I did seek an attorney because in my search i was not able to find reliable information like what is available on this site. In for I-485 you can just write Out of Status. Your overstay will be forgiven because of your marriage the US citizen. In addition, my overstay was never raised in my interview either. I don't think you need an attorney. Once you ask the questions you will find many on her willing to help and provide reliable information.

    Good luck!

  2. From what I understand most offices no longer issue stamps in the passports. Some people have been able to get them at some offices while others have been told that they don't do that anymore. Hopefully you will get your green card within the next 30 days after approval. And if you are signed up with USCIS.gov they will email you when the card production has been issued. No need to stress over the stamp.

  3. I think you will be fine as well. I had an interviewer that seemed very a little upset that my husband did not remember all the dates and locations of events in our relationship. She did say that I was not completely cleared my name check. However one week after the interview we got emails that we were approved. I think it just means that someone else will look over your case then you will get update when it is approved. I was also told that I would get a decision in the mail.

  4. Well what she actually said was that I needed to pass the "final security check" so i am not sure if she meant phase 3 of the FBI name check process, or if she just wanted to look over my case. Also she did say that if I waited 2 hours, that they would have been able to let me know if a decision has been made on the case. But I wanted to get back to my children, who were with a new babysitter that day. So i told her I will wait for it in the mail.

Iyahata It sounds like they didn't even check if you had passed the FBI namecheck or not since you received a letter of approval so soon after.

I hope we get news too. You're welcome for the list, I figured everyone would be happy to see some movements and even better approvals added on it.

  5. Well my stay here has been short lived. I just received my card production email!

I had my interview on January 16! Here is my review http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=104941 I am finally putting that experience behind me and is now ready to wait it out and see what happens to my case. My I-94 was removed. I was not told whether we were approved or not. Just that I have to pass the final security check and a decision will come in the mail!

  6. My interview from hell was on January 16th. The officer said that she has to see whether my final security check has been completed and I will get a decision in my mail.

Any July filers with an update? A letter from USCIS, a touch? Something?

It's weird to see that other months seem to get something and we don't... but then maybe we have less people active and posting too.

I look forward to early February when I can call USCIS again (I'm being good and waiting the 90 days). Although the Charlotte Office still give the December updated and it's hard to tell what they are at now, I hope it changes soon so I can see if we can/should schedule an infopass appointment or not.

  8. I had my interview today at Garden City and the whole experience has just put me in a bad mood. We arrived 30 minutes before our 8:30 appointment. There was a long line so we had to wait outside until it was our turn to go through security. Once we got in we took our appointment letter to the window, where we were told to sit and wait. After a 40 minutes wait, we were lead stairs where we spent another 90 minutes waiting to hear our name called for the interview. Our immigration officer in my opinion could not be anymore condescending and unpleasant than she was.

First off my husband and I only speak English, yet she felt the need to ask us 3 times if we needed an interpreter. She introduced herself and swore us in.

Second she asked for our IDs then jumped into badgering my husband.

Questions to my husband (US Citizen)

How many children do you have? (We have 3 together).

Do you have children with anyone else? (No)

Does your wife have children with anyone else?

What is that date of birth of the first child?

What time of the day was he born?

Were you there at his birth?

How many siblings does your wife have?

Where did you meet your wife? (Online)

How many times did you visit your wife while she was in college?

How many times did she visit you?

Where were you living at the time when she visited you?

Have you ever met her parents? (NO)

    What is her father’s name?

    What does he do?

    What is her mother’s name?

    What does her mother do?

    Are they divorced?

How come you don’t remember your father-in-law’s name?

Have you ever spoken to him on the phone?

What did your wife graduate from college?

What did your wife study in college?

    When did you get married?

How long were you dating your wife before you got married?

How long were you living with her before you got married?

Why did you wait so long to get married to your wife, after you had 3 kids?

What is your wife phone number? (He responded saying he just dial my name from his phone)

What if you lost your phone, how would you get in contact with your wife?

What type of job do you do? Shouldn’t you be good with numbers given the nature of your job as a software engineer? (I think this was just a bit condescending)

How come you 2 don’t have that many pictures together? (With 3 children under 2 taking pictures has become a bit difficult of a task)

    Does your wife work?

How many bank accounts do you have?

Is your wife’s name on both of them?

What was the amount deposited to the savings account that you wife recently opened?

Why is your wife name not on the account that you had while you were in college?

How many bank accounts does your wife have?

    Questions to me were:

How many siblings does my husband have?

Have you met your husband parents?

    Have you met his brother?

The other questions about ever been arrested, terrorist etc?

How many bank accounts do I have?

At the end of the interview she said that I still had to pass final security check. My options were to either wait for about 2 hours at that local office or just wait to get my decision in the mail. She removed my I-94 and wrote the following in my passport. “A #, I-485 pending / CR-6, present at the GCU NY office with her signature and date”. She never mentioned anything about me being approved and mentioned that I should not leave the country. She also returned my EAD to me and showed us the way out. I did not wait for 2 hours at the office because my 2 younger children were with the babysitter, and I wanted to get back to them. We did take our 2 year old to the interview. She looked at banks statements, lease and the other stuff they ask you to bring in on the letter. She took some of our pictures, even though we had already sent in pictures with our original packet. She returned the tax returns that were in the original packet along with the marriage certificate.

That sums up my interview experience. I am a bit disappointed, but I don’t believe anything we could have said would have made the interview experience any pleasant. My advice for anyone would be to just remember as much as you can about dates because she was more focused on dates and locations.

My interview will be at Garden City this Wednesday, so i will post a review when we get back.

  9. I received an RFE and but that never showed up online. However, the response to the RFE showed up in the case status online. In addition, I have had my interview notice for about 6 weeks already and that has not showed up online either. Hope this helps.

I submitted my i 751 at the end of July. I have been on vacation for one month oversees, I am checking the USCIS website weekly to see if there is a RFE or interview requests, but it says that they will notify me via air mail of such requests.

From your experience, do you usually see something online if there will be a RFE or request for Interview??

    Any help is appreciated.

I will be back in the US in 3 weeks.

  10. A friend of mine recently did E-filing for the EAD renewal and the process went quite quickly, took about 6 weeks. He e-filed the paperwork and sent in 2 photos and copies of his last EAD card as the support documents. I am not sure if you will have to attend a separate biometrics appointment for the EAD. In his case he did not file for AOS, and his fingerprints on file were still good, so he did not had to do that again. So I believe that they will use the prints they have on file for you. I am no expert on the topic, just thought i would share this information with you since i came across your post.

    Goodluck!

I have been reading the instructions to e-file the application for my EAD. It says, you don't need to submit photographs when you e-file

"You will receive a notice in the mail from the USCIS that will provide you with your USCIS-scheduled appointment for capturing biometrics and photographs at an Application Support Center."

Now I have a question: This is my renewal application, so they already have my photo and fingerprints on file. I just recently had another biometrics appointment for my AOS application.

Now I am not sure, what to do: IF I do the e-filing and I don't submit my photo, will I have to go to the ASC office again just for the photo (because then I will just do the paper-application and add photos) or do you think, I will get my fingerprints taken as well?

I am just trying to avoind another 6 hour roundtrip to Dallas again, since we just went there a couple weeks ago for my AOS biometrics. (I am assuming, the AOS fingerprints won't get used for the EAD? Or are they that "advanced" to figure that all out?)

Also...what do I do with the other papers I need to submit, such as a copy of my recent EAD? THat is going to be send in a separate package anyway, right?

Do you think it might be better to just do the paper filing and send everything together?
