  1. We will be applying for removal of conditions next month. My wife and her daughter came over on K-3/K-4. I adopted her daughter ,who is over 18 years old, at the county courthouse and had her name legally changed on the adoption decree. Can anyone give me suggestions about how to change her name with Immigration during the Removal of Conditions process so that her 10 year green card has her new name on it?

    Thanks

  2. Hi,

Is it true that the documents required for the DS-230 (birth certificate, polices records, etc)don't have to be translated word for word?

A friend who works at a law office has sent me translation templates for the certificates.

The template for the birth certificate looks like this:

Do you think that would work for NVC?

    Thanks a bunch..

It needs to be an "official"translation. You will need to pay some government office to do it.

  3. On the AOS we just use the maiden name of the applicant? Also we tried to change her name at the SSA office and she said we have to wait for homeland security to okay it? That she goes by whatever they go by. We have gotten married and everything and she has a SSN in her maiden name. We were trying to change it. Do we have to wait till she gets her green Card? She is from Canada and is trying to get a green card to live here in the USA with me.

During our AOS interview the officer asked her which name she wanted to use. She said her married last name, and that is what the officer put on her green card.

  4. Does anyone by chance have a copy of the Packet 3 instructions in Thai that they can scan and email me so I can give my fiancee a heads-up as to what she needs to do? I am doing a lot of planning and getting all forms ready so when she gets the Packet 3 she will have her med exam and police report done, all forms filled out and ready and only needing to do the online form and get the packet sent back in right away. Although she can read the English version I can get online, I think it would help her better understand it if she can read it ahead of time in Thai, her native language.

Of, if someone knows where I can find it on the Internet in Thai that would help too.

    Thanks!!!

Go to the u.s. embassy Bangkok website. visas then immigrant visa, then packet 3. The instructions are in english and Thai

  5. 2008-4, I married a US citizen in China

2008-5, I received a B2 visa issed by Guangzhou Consulate

    2008-6, we traveled to US

2008-8, while we were in US, we filed I-130

2008-8-25, we received I-797C NOTICE OF ACTION

I was thinking now I just had to wait. And as I have a B2, I can still travel between US and China.

2008-8-28, we left USA and went back to China for a while

2008-10, we came back to US

I was looking to get updates on USCIS website baout my case but supurisingly, there is no record for my WACXXXXX number on their website. When called the 800 bumber and could not find any record either. Then we went to see a local immigration office and the lady there could not find our record either! So we called a immigration attorney and he was surprise US let me in the second time. Because if I have applied I-130, then I can not leave US. If I do, then they wont let me in US again.

So I really dont know. I am afraid that once I left US after we receive the I-797C, the USCIS considered I gave up on immigration so they closed my case......... Hope not!!!....

The problem now is we dont know what happend to our I-130. The check is cashed by them in Aug. Now the attorney recommend we file both I 130 and AOS cocurrently and I should not leave US until this is finished, unless I have a AP.....!!!!!!!!

Does anybody know what is what...? What could have happened to my I130? and what should I do......? Thanks a lot!!!!!!!

Just wondering, when you filled out the B-2 application did you tell them the reason for the visit was to adjust status?

  6. good day to all! im a newbie to this site. so yeah, my fiance is a US MARINE he's been serving the corps for less than 1 year. so in this case he did not receive a W2 nor 1040 form yet.. what should i do? ill be having my interview in 2 weeks from now.:(

He gets a "leave and earnings statement" (LES) every month. That can verify his pay. He will also be getting his W- 2 in January.

  7. I have a question I am asking for a good friend. He is US citizen, she is PR of Singapore but citizen of China. Can they marry in China anywhere or does it have to be in her hometown? They talked of marry in Guangzhou, she is from the far north.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and have a nice day.

    Craig

My wife and I were married in China, but not in her home town. I don't think it is a requirement.

  8. My wife is applying for the CR1/K3. According to time lines, this will take almost a year to process. Can she apply for a tourist visa from the nearest embassy/consulate in China after we've filed for CR1/K3?

Would the tourist visa interview officer think that she's going to come to the US on vacation and not leave the US because she has a husband here?

Also, does anyone have experience applying for Chinese tourist visas to the US? Do Chinese tourists need to go with tour groups? Or can they roam freely?

    yes

    probably

if she gets a visa and is granted entry into the USA she can roam freely... the big question is will she be given a visa and allowed into the USA...

My wife did exactly that through the consulate at Shengyang. She was here for 3 months then returned to China to wait for the K-3 interview.

  9. No, the marriage official in China only needs to see the "proof of single" and your passport
    Hi Alll,

I went through the process of getting the marriage certificate at the Chinese consulate here in the US. I now have the document with the offical approval seal on it. My question to those that have married in China is this all I need on my part, along with the passport type picture of the two of us together and of course her required documents? I am starting to get nervous that everything is in line.

    Thank you,

    Aries52

Sorry, What I am also asking is do I still need to get the pages on my divoce translated or is the Singles Certificate with the Chinese consulate approval on it be enough.

    Thanks again,

    Aries52
