  1. hold up....you say on August 15th its her interview, and she leaves on August 18th....ok there is no problem.

She can still travel on her Russian passport because she's only having her interview, UNLESS they do same day oath ceremonies, then no she won't be allowed, she'll need to have a U.S. passport.

because usually, and by rule of the thumb after your interview, they are meant to schedule your oath cermony within 90 days after your interview, so if she'll be back before the 90 days, well then no problem

Right on, mate. That's a splendid idea. As long as they don't confiscate her greencard during the interview, that would be the course of action to follow.

Thanks to you as well, Yu.

  2. My wife is likely to have her Citizenship Interview around August 15, but she is scheduled to travel on business to China on August 18 for a week. This presents a dilemma.

    1. Is she allowed to travel on her Russian national passport with a Chinese visa to China (without a greencard because it will be confiscated at the Oath ceremony) and come back to the U.S. using just her Certificate of Naturalization? Any possible problems at the Chinese border? U.S. border?

    2. If the above is not allowed, can we postpone her interview until after she comes back from China? Does the postponement result in a significant delay of a new interview? Who would we contact to delay the interview?

    Thanks,

    burs.

  3. James, broham, are you still on the list? Oh no, that's it, them USCIS folk got me all pissed off now. Hold me back, I am gonna put some whoppin on their tucas. Hold tight, it will work out for you.

I hate Germans. My wife applied for a Schengen visa to join me in my beer-drinking raid in Munich next week. We were hoping they'd issue her a 1-year visa, so that we can visit krauts whenever we like, but noooo... they only give visas for a specific trip. I swear if it wasn't for dopfel dunkel and sausages, I'd put some whoppin on them too.

  4. Card production ordered. No email yet.

Ok, just got the email. At this point I just hope that her name is not misspelled or something.

Hooray, burs! Another Loser® victory today!

Thank you. It's like... I wanted this for so long, 13 months... and now... I feel empty, I just feel empty... Just kidding, feel very happy. I know you are due next week.

It must seem kind of anti-climactic. No balloons, no parades? Hey, well, it's Friday, there's always drinking! drunkib2.gif

Drinking? It's vulgar, degrading, and time consuming... my kind of thing.

  5. Thanks! Fortunately I have a really nice new car, so the drive will at least be pleasant. ;)

Yo, me fella luzas. I received an email from CRIS today. It appears the email is from VSC, and that it is in reference to my 1800 inquiry that I made a couple of months ago (before petitions were transferred from TSC to VSC). At that time I basically just called the 1800 number and asked them to make an inquiry with TSC as our case was outside of processing time (we filed in March 2007). The person on the phone said it was going to take about a month before our inquiry is reviewed by an immigration officer. The email that we received today says that in response to our inquiry this is to let us know that our case is currently under review and the decision on our case will be made within 60 days.

It's strange that they sent me this email because about a week ago I had already received a paper response to my inquiry from USCIS - a response that many of us got. Now, this email. Straaange.

Aaaahhh, thank you, good sir. May Paraguay always lose to Uruguay in football.

Lol, well I'm English and we always lose in the World Cup semi-finals. Anyone from Germany in the 4 above? If so, I bet you'll get approved first :crying:

Oh, pah-leez, if anyone, a French couple deserves to be approved first. Everyone knows that the damn spaghetti eaters stole the World Cup from Zidane during the 2006 final match.

  8. Cute video!

Anyone from the US who mocks the Third World is probably not aware of the extent to which THEY are moving up and we are declining. In Colombia a citizen can get a passport in a day and a spousal visa is processed in a matter of weeks. And don't get me started on the economy. The US dollar used to buy 2900 Colombian pesos in 2003 and now buys about 1800 and going down. My wife's apartment in Medellin which was worth about $30,000 back then is now worth over $100,000.

Hmmm... it's strange you choose to live in the U.S.

  9. I would estimate that there are about 500 to 1000 transferees. Just my personal guess. What takes them so long? They treat us like al other TSc transfer case files. That means we stand in line for 6 months! They seem to ignore (intentionally or due to system isues) the year we already waited!

I highly doubt that we are put on an equal footing with folks who filed directly with VSC in February 08. Putting us at the back of the line is consequential for USCIS in terms of increased senator inquiries and possibility of law suits. I still think that we are not too far from getting the "card production ordered" message. I used to process applications for credit for a major corporation. It was an after-college-type-gig. My desk and the desks of other analysts were piled with applications. Whenever an analyst required help with processing his load, I would take some of his applications (that were filed before mine) and start processing them. However, I would never give them full priority over my own, but I would never dare to stick them on the bottom of my pile. I would think USCIS has a similar approach. My guess - one to two weeks from now we will forget the webaddress of this forum because we will be done.

  10. One prediction about how many TSC cases are now in Vermont.

Let's assume that the posters on this message board (and on James's master list) are representing 1% of USCIS applicants. (I think its a lot more, but lets take 1%).

Then would it be reasonable to assume that there are 100 times the applications pending for our category (just TSC transfers to VSC)? Any thoughts?

That seems like a lot - the only thing I can take solace in is that we are acquiring the needed time (36 months if married to a US citizen) for applying for US citizenship....and dealing with the USCIS....again!!!

So if there are around 20 transferees from TSC to VSC on this board, are you suggesting there are 2000 total transferees? In my view, this is an exaggerated figure. To prove this, just try changing the last one or two digits of your 10-digit case number. I did it and I only found 1 other case that was filed on the same date as me. So if they received two cases per day between February and June, that's 300 cases that were transferred from TSC to VSC. That sounds a little more reasonable I would say. What's unreasonable is why they can't figgin' handle those cases in a timely manner.

  11. As somebody said, there is only one cis, and they did take our money before they took yours so we should be first.

Correct, sir. We were out of our money longer than the people who filed after us. Hence, we should be compensated for the longer "no-money" time period with earlier approval.

James' frustration is understandable, though, obviously, kbl was not looking for a "congratulations", but was merely notifying everyone of his status. Kezzie's, on the other hand, is being a little biaaatch. I first thought he was truly offended for kbl, but later it came up that he himself is an original filer at VSC and has vested interest in having original VSCers get approved before us, the transferees. I am watching you, Kezzie, "meet-the-parents-robert-de-niro" style.

  12. is there a sense to apply for citizenship if it can't be approved before i-751 is approved? and yes it is my green card extension that is expiring (it has been 3 years since the time i was admitted to the us)

what is the sense of applying for citizenship if you cannot submit a valid resident card? don't you have to have proofs that conditions have been removed first?

i got a noa upon filing i-751 about my resident card extension. but it has been a year and this is about to expire. what do people usually do when their noa "expires"? do i need to do anything in advance? what to do if you have to get a new job or need proofs of legal status for something else?

You can file for citizenship, if that's something you want to do.

    e

guy from russia, read the instruction on i-751 (removal of conditions) form and the instruction on n-400 form (citizenship). also visit uscis.gov and search for removal of conditions. these three sources will answer all of your questions. you will spend 2-3 hours, but you will find what you are looking for.

also, i hope you realize that the noa expired in 1 year from the date of the expiration of the conditional GREENCARD and not 1 year from the date of the NOA.

yes, you should apply because your I-751 will be automatically adjudicated by the USCIS officer who will be reviewing your citizenship application.

  14. :sigh: We sent in our petition July 15, 2007 and we just got the email today. Boy it feels good!!

ETA: I just noticed I sent the I-129F on 2/28/04. So from k1 to 10 year green card it was 4 years to the day.

On February 28, 2008, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

    Congrats, brother.

And... this is horse #######. VSC approves a July filer before the Feb-May TSC transferrees. There goes our expectation for a priority of our apps.
