yeah it would be sweet with no interview cuz the local office is like 3-4 hours away from us. so it would be nice to not have the drive up there ..

yeah i saw there is a whole threat about january transfer. and still no word yeah it looks more like 5months and more ...

I hate to say that but I think you will be waiting for quite a while. I filed my Mother's AOS on 11/25/2011 and the case was transferred to California on 12/25/2011 and there is still no response except the touch/update she had on 04/30/2012. I guess I prepared the paperwork well cause she is adjusting from B2 and no Interview.

On the other side I just looked up the 2011 November AOS filers forum and somebody that sent AOS from K1 on 11/21/2011 and it was transferred 11/25 just got approved yesterday!

It looks like CSC is really backlogged at the moment but still 6 months is bearable. I remember times when CSC was removing conditions on residence for 1 month!, when VSC was doing it for 2-3 months. Last year VSC was doing it for 6-7 months. So it really depends on the wave of apps. Be patient and Good Look!

I would like to petition for my parents. I just became a US citizen a week ago and I had gained PResidence through my spouse. The question is when I had my LPR status I gained it though my spouse. Do I still need to answer this question/14 & 14b/ as a Citizen now If it was through Naturalization? THANK YOU!

This is weird. Last Thursday my case was updated. Fine! The only thing bizarre is USCIS never sent me a letter requesting the evidences they said they needed. And now, out of the blue, they say they received my response to the RFE. I never sent anything to them. WTH?!

When you had your interview on 08/31/11 had you already been married for exactly 3 years if marriage based or had you lived for 5 complete years in US as a permanent resident? Depending on which basis you applied if you filed 90 days before the 3rd year if marriage based or the 5th year anniversary of your green card If your interview occurs earlier than the time for the requirement to be met they usually send a RFE and as soon as you meet the requirement USCIS approves your application and you should be expecting to receive your oath ceremony schedule very soon! If the RFE was received you have met the residency requirement.

Just out of curiosity - in the interview envelop, there was a checklist page included. Does everyone get that? In addition, my interview notice contained a list of things to bring to the interview.... I was planning on taking everything I have but it is good to know ahead of time...

Hi guys,

I wanted to share my interview experience. We arrived at Oakland Park, FL an hour before my appointment on 09/15/11. The building of the USCIS was full of people and that’s why I parked and left my wife in one of the restaurants 5 minutes walking distance away from the USCIS building. I guess they had an oath ceremony because one of my friends had her oath the same day. There were two lines of people – one for interviews and one for the oath. So I went through the security and I checked in 20 minutes before my scheduled time and I went in a big hall full of people waiting for interviews and info passes probably and that made me think that I was gonna be waiting my turn forever but I was wrong cause 5 minutes after I had sat down a young Asian officer came and called my name. He was nice and professional. As soon as I walked in the office he swore me in and we started with the test first.

1. What is the rule of religion?

2. When was the constitution written?

3 Which ocean is on the east coast?

4. State that borders Canada.

I don’t recall the last 2 questions…

He made me read the sentence: Which state has the most people?

And I had to write the answer: California has the most people.

He started going through the application then asking question by question. He asked me to sign all the extra pages used for extra spaces to answer certain questions like jobs and addresses for the last 5 years. It was good that we had requested my wife’s birth certificate online because for some reason when moving from our previous place we had lost it so he wanted to see the original and I gave him a copy that I had ready in my folder. He didn’t want to get the selective service card but the online confirmation print out only. I also gave him a clean arrest record report from the sheriff’s office. I told him that he could have the entire folder if he wanted .

He gave me a piece of paper to make sure that my information is correct and let me sign my photos and I asked him then which one it will go on my certificate and he said it was gonna be the one from Biometrics but he told me that if I wanted the one I signed it was gonna be glued not imprinted and I chose the Biometrics one. He said he liked it much better.

He made me sign my application and he said he was recommending me for approval and he put a big red stamp on it. He said he should tell me that I have to wait for my oath 180 days but It was actually gonna be less than 2 weeks. I asked him why I should wait that much when my friend had her oath today and her interview was a week ago. He replied that every case is different. He also asked where my wife was and I said that she was waiting for me in the restaurant. He said that she must be really hungry . I just did not want her to come in that big crowd in front of USCIS and I knew it was not required but I could always bring her in if needed. You can’t have a cell phone in the building. When we went for AOS we had a friend to grab our cell phones cause otherwise the security told us to throw them away!

I have a friend that does not need to work. He stays 6 months here and he goes back to his home country every year. He won the Green card through the DV lottery program.His father is really rich and he comes here to have fun only. Does he have a chance to become a US citizen in 5 years?

I called SSS yesterday and they told me it will take up to 30 days for the letter but before that they will send me some sort of a card. The customer service representative told me that it should be sufficient for USCIS and I also mentioned that I have submitted a copy of the web page confirming my registration and he said that it should be also sufficient. That's something so easy to check by entering the SSN and DOB. Hopefully the will not delay my case for something so simple since my interview will be in 2 weeks and I am not sure If I will get it in time....

I think it really depends on your local office what picture it will be on the Certificate of Naturalization. In some offices they make you sign the photos you have already submitted with you application and that's the one that goes on the certificate. I know that's what they do it Miami because I have friends that recently got naturalized.

Yes I have filled up the Selective Service Number and printed the online page proving it. I just don't know if it's sufficient or they need something certified... I have a friend from Brazil and she is going there on a honeymoon for a month. Her J1 expires in December. After coming back in the end of October she wants to file adjustment of status at the beginning of December. Does it sound right or she will have issues?

I have registered for the Selective Service and submitted a copy of my selective service registration online. Do I need any other official proof for the interview. Something sent from the Department of State? My SS number is printed in the application and a copy of the online page..

A standard letter and when my hubby did his interview at Oakland Park it took about 45 minutes before he was called in for the interview. The actual interview was 10-15 minutes. Here is a link to our Interview experience. Up to the time we went, there was no same-day oath, but I hope and pray that you don't have to wait as long as we did for the oath ceremony -- it took about 2 months from the interview to oath. I've heard of others who didn't have to wait as long.

2 months for the oath - that's a lot! Last year one of my friends had her application approved and oath taken in 2 months total in the same DO, Oakland park, FL. She had been a LPR for 16 years and may be that's why it was a quick procedure. She had the interview on Friday and they gave her a list of oath ceremonies and let her pick one and then she picked the following Wednesday in 5 days. Strange. She applied around June I believe and It may have been less busy but I don't know. I really hope that I will have my oath taken the day after the interview because it's a Citizenship day which will be observed a day earlier this year because 17th is Saturday... I think that they have big events like that they will try to put everybody in a big hall and make it more official...We'll see...

Hey folks,

I got my Interview Appointment Letter yesterday and It says the following:

"You are hereby notified to appear for an interview on your Application for Naturalization at the date, time and place indicated above.Waiting room capacity is limited. Please do not arrive any earlier than 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. The proceeding will take about two hours. If for any reason you cannot keep this appointment....."

I don't understand. Are they all standard letters or it depends on the local office? Most of the interview experiences I have seen here the applicants are in and out in 10,15, 20 minutes. I am pretty much sure that my District office does not have "the same day" ceremony so I don't get it...

If I am scheduled on the 15th next month most likely my oath is going to be the next day because it's citizenship day...

congrats Boyinflorida!!! Do you remember when you received the email about being placed in line for interview scheduling?

I completed my BIO very early 06/29/11 cause I was scheduled for 07/11/11 and that might have helped a little bit but anyway I still think that they go by the priority date and we do all these comparison tables which really don't help a lot due to the fact that every DO is differently busy. I got the text/email saying placed in line for interview scheduling on 07/07/2011 and I got a text/email saying scheduled for interview yesterday, 08/08/2011.

Don't forget that you also filed at the end of the month almost 20 days after me.

Finally, I got an email/text that I am actually scheduled for an interview...not in line any more... :dance: So happy I know it's gonna be here in less than a week..

Your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION is now scheduled for interview. You will receive a written notice with a time and place for your interview. You should receive this notice within 14 days. If you do not receive this notice within 14 days from August 8, 2011, please call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for further assistance. If you move, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address.
