the processes are not working well so there is a risk with anything you do.  It would be good to check the embassy you are transferring to has a much better situation (i.e. no backlog) than the one you are switching from so it's a no brainer.   I wrote to NVC and it took 3 weeks for them to read the enquiry and then the switch was immediate (like 2 days).   The embassy we switched to has essentially no backlog and the pattern we saw was every few weeks all the K1s/CR1s go 'in transit' so we are hopeful.  August may be a slow time for all the embassies if the staff are on holiday (heard that from a Greg Suskind briefing).   We were also about the 'changing supermarket queue' problem but in our case it made sense.

Great! Thanks for your help and clarification.

    Good luck for your visa!

it took a while to get the response to the public enquiry but then it was immediate - we could tell that our NVC number stopped working (checking for status) within a couple of days so we called and got our new number.   We expect to get called to the other embassy next time they call for a batch (every several weeks from what I see).   Maybe London will start moving but there's such an enormous queue of K1s (DQ early 2020) and even the lawsuit is >100 people so I was thinking end of 2021 that way and end of summer via Amsterdam.

So if I ask for transfer this month, will it take around 2 to 3 months to be transferred? I need to follow with NVC on that?

Sorry for asking a lot of questions but I am a bit confused and do not want to take any action  that risk delaying further the visa.

    Thanks again for your help.

Yes the official process I've been told is to go to the new embassy but everyone seems to find it works just to tell the NVC you would like to do it including your new address in the homeland,  case number, names of both and a copy of the passport to show you have the right to go to that embassy.   That worked for us.

    Thanks Andrea for your reply.

How long did it take the NVC to transfer your file to the new embassy??

  4. if our K1 visa is stuck at NVC and London embassy is not accepting new visas, is it possible to transfer our file to another US embassy in a different country especially if I am moving back to my homeland.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  5. Hello!  I have recently joined Visa journey.

My petition for K1 visa was approved since March 2021 and it is still stuck at NVC because US embassy in London is not accepting new applicants.

Anyone has a similar case or any information that can help.

    Thanks!
