  1. Wow, crazy time you had Beng! Our biometrics were very smooth, in-and-out about 15 minutes. We filed in Beth's maiden name mostly because I wasn't sure it was ok to use the married name yet. We'll change it all later once everything is done. Hopefully the confused officer who did your biometrics won't cause any delays with the name changing business....

We filed a little before you, Beth got the USCIS email notice yesterday that her green card has been ordered so we should see it in a week or two. And today we got the email stating a letter has been mailed welcoming the new permanent resident! After filing our AOS it was transfered to CSC, never any mention of an interview. We also got an RFE yesterday for the i-765 application for employment thing (we missed a signature on one line) so we will send it back with a signature. My question is, if you already have your green card do you even need the employment thing? I thought that was just so you could work until you receive the green card. right?

Anyway, glad to see things are moving along with your AOS! Just be patient...

Hello guys. I just had my biometrics appointment this morning. It took me two hours inside the ASC Office coz the lady guard who was checking my documents directed me to talk to an immigration officer because of my changed last name since I filed using my new married name. And when I was talking to the officer, he changed the last name on my form and put my maiden name on it after checking his computer. And I told him, I applied using my new married name. But he said, what we have on our record is your maiden name. So, i just let him change it. But after a minute and after he asked me how I came here, he changed my name on the form again to my married name. He was so confusing. It made me dizzy for a while coz I didn't have my breakfast yet.

And then, I asked him if my biometrics will also cover for my I-765 application since I applied it at the same time with the AOS coz my ASC letter only states the AOS Case number. But he answered no. I should wait for another biometrics appointment for that. Oh my goodness. I don't know why this is happening. but let's see what's gonna happen next coz I already did my service request for biometrics for the i-765 last july 11.

God bless us all and Congrats to those who have been approved already.

  2. Thanks for the tip. We did the delbros deposit yesterday (or the day before... my days are running together). Got the confirmation txt back from them with no problems so it's all set. We should have done it sooner but with christmas and such we got sidetracked a little.

Mike and Beth, since you have a flight so soon after the interview, be sure and pay the new document verification fee right away so you don't get held up. I know what the new rule says, but I've already seen one post of someone having to pay at the embassy and their visa being held up until the documents from NSO are verified.
  3. WOW!! that's crazy! I guess we just got lucky with the day we picked then...

Adam, I attended the medical with Beth on 12-20 and 21. We went in the afternoon around 1pm and we were done by two hours on each day, very quick and no crowds, they had empty seats for me to wait. Also FYI for any SO's who want to accompany their fiance during the medical I was allowed inside with her no problem and went with her from floor to floor until we were done.

I will also be with Beth on Jan 3rd at the interview so maybe we will see you guys there. PM me if you would like to exchange phone numbers. We will be staying at Bayview. Good luck to you!

There were crowds the entire day there on the 27th sadly. She was there from 5 am to 9:30 pm. She said they were taking about 100ish numbers at a time, and breaking them in lots of 15.

I really wish she'd gone earlier on a much less busy day like you two did.

Also, yes, I will be there for the interview on the 3rd. We're possibly staying at the Pan Pacific for the first few days, then going to our rental home.

I don't mind sharing numbers at all. Once I'm there, though, call Arlyn, because it will cost me $2.39 a minute through AT&T to receive calls while there, hehe.

Arlyn has completed Day 1 of her medical.

She arrived 2 hours early, and was still #353 out of nearly 500 people at St. Lukes.

    I was quite astonished!

it's really better to be there in the afternoon. around 1pm.

Her "appointment" was 7am, so figured she had to be there for that on time.

There were actually over 650 people, and she wasn't done until after 9pm her time.

She's back today for two immunization shots and she's done.

  5. How was the crowd? I assume arriving at slec just after lunch time is the best time to go?

    mabuhay!

i had the 1st day of medical exam today. it went smoothly, very fast i think coz i really didn't wait. me and sis mylene (jan 4 interview) arrived there around 1PM and finished around 3.15 PM. the SLEC people were also nice. but i guess, you should always smile at them say thank you. use your charm a lot coz i over used mine. hehehe.

i was told to be back for the result tomorrow 1.30PM but i plan to arrive there around 11AM.

im gonna post my medical experience on friday. i hope and pray that everything will be ok tomorrow.

thanks to your prayers as always!

  6. According to DHL tracking, the package sent from NVC on November 21 to Manila was 72 pounds. The shipment arrived on November 26. I am not sure if 72lbs. is a lot of petitions.

How were you able to track it through DHL? I tried several ways that had been posted on here before, but was never able to get it to work....

  7. Ah ok, thanks for the info. We may hang around manila a few days after and try to catch a taping of wowowee so if it's just a few days wait that would be perfect for us. Again, CONGRATS! I'm so happy for you two!!

By the way Shai, how are you posting to the forum? They have internet at your hotel? Does anyone know if Bayview has internet access?

    Thanks!

Yup, all rooms in this hotel have internet access. I'm not sure if Bayview has internet access though. But Miramar Hotel, just next to Bayview, has internet in all rooms too and their room rates are cheaper 1,910 pesos.:)

hmmmmm, we already booked bayview for medical but maybe I'll take a look at mirimar for interview time....

  8. Hi mike! After the interview, we were called to another window. I asked the lady if we can pick up the visa. We didn't make a letter requesting for it like what others did as we were at the interview together. The lady asked the reason why we want to pick it up. We said we're leaving soon. We were asked if we already have tickets, we said yes, and the exact date. We didn't show her the itinerary. She told us to take our seats and wait for a while as she's gonna ask permission from the consul first. She said there's no assurance that the visa pick up will be approved. Then after waiting for about 15 minutes, my name was called and she gave me a pink card to write the name and contact number of the person picking it up. Of course I wrote mine. I asked when we can get it, she said they'll just call us when and where. They haven't called us yet.

Ah ok, thanks for the info. We may hang around manila a few days after and try to catch a taping of wowowee so if it's just a few days wait that would be perfect for us. Again, CONGRATS! I'm so happy for you two!!

  9. yet another good reason to not hire an attorney

I don't know, there are a lot of positive points to having one, but you just can't always take what they tell you as absolute truth. I'm glad I've had one so far, it does make things less stressful. But if I had to do it again, knowing more about the whole process, I don't think I would pay for one again.

  10. Congrats, we have the same dates! If you haven't seen it yet there is a thread for January Manila interviews at:

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=97411

Finally janice and i recieved Interview date in maila it is for Jan. 3rd.2008 and medical is Dec. 27 ,07 so she will spend few days in manila alone on Holidays .she has recieved her packet and is almost complete and i will be sending the most recent docs we have this week.
  11. Congratulations to all the recent approvals! I love hearing the good news.

Shai, can I ask how you went about asking for visa pickup? Any special pointers for that? Beth and I plan to request that as well and since they granted yours I'd love to hear how you approached it. I asked my lawyer about it and was told the consulate would never grant that .... (i know...mornons!). I guess it still takes a few days for the visa to be created before it's ready for pickup?

  12. Hi all, I will be staying in PI for 23 days. I know the 21 day entry visa can be extended. My question is where do I go to get this done? Can I do it when I enter off the plane? Is there anyway I can get this before I arrive (from somewhere here in the states maybe)?

    Thanks,

    --Mike

  13. Guess what, I only had one shot cuz I was able to show my chickenpox scar! weeeee!! But the dumb nurse who took my vital signs yesterday forgot to write down my respiratory rate that's why i had to redo it after waiting long hours and waited again after that! So today I was there from 9am to 4pm! what a long day! But at least this part is over!

Shai did you have to show them vaccination records? Beth is having difficulty obtaining her shot records. My lawyer said that would not be a problem if she can't get them but they will just redo any shots she has already had before.

  14. Thanks Mike!!! I'm glad you're spending Christmas with Beth!!!:dance::dance: You can help her gather all the required documents together while you're here! wow! But I hope you get all the evidence of financial support ready before you come for her! Take care! GOD IS GOOD!

    Shai & Wil

I have everything the lawyer instructed me to get, bank statements from last 12 months, W2's, employment letter. Should I get anything in addition to this? I have direct deposit so I don't get paystubs --well I get email paystubs, maybe I should print all of those just in case.

  15. Hey just wanted to fill everyone in on my recent successes on my k1. after csc losing mine I contacted my senator and everything moved very fast from then on. My app was sent in one day to nvc and after it arrived there in 2 days it was sent to Kiev. Kiev recieved it on 14 November and sent letter to fiance on 15 November. I called yesterday and scheduled interview for 4 December so my journey is almost finished. Good luck to all who are still waiting. It goes very quickly once arriving at NVC

Awsome! So you were one of us who was approved on the cursed 9-19 date, the day of the big screw up in their shipping department huh? That screw up cost me about 1 month delay in our process, that's one month we will never get back. Thank you US Government :)

  16. OMG Mike. :( Im so sorry you didn't make it to the December list. But I'm still glad that you've already gotten your schedules. It's not gonna be that long, right? I know you want to have her for Christmas but cheer up... the next Christmases after this year's Christmas you'll be with her and nothing will ever stop that. Just think positive. Everything happens for a reason, ok? :) Anyway, congratulations to you Mike and Beth! Good luck on the Interview! :D

    Shai and Wil

Thanks Shai, but it's ok, i wish we could get it all done before christmas but I'm going over there and spending christmas with her anyway so no biggie. Just means I have to burn a little vacation time to be there during the interview but I have plenty of vacation, been saving it up just for this possibility!

Don't worry about yours, I'm sure you will have everything together soon. You'll do fine!

  17. That gave me quite a scare while I was reading it. It's a positive sign to know that she has been moved out of Intensive care unit. We will continue to pray for Leidy's health and hope for a quick recovery. Continue to stay strong and God Bless. (F)

Wow... you aren't the only one, that scared me too just reading it! Byron I can't imagine what a horrible moment that must have been for you. Thank God she is getting better now, but wow what a scary moment. I'll continue to keep you guys in my prayers, sounds like the worse is over. God bless you and Leidy.

  18. God this process is sooo hard!!!!!!

I went through a miscarriage and my Leidy is in the hospital because she is having a hard time breathing due to her asthma....she is under anestesia and has tubes down her throat!!

I am suffering here so far away and feel so helpless not being able to be by her side!!!

I'm dying....God please protect her and let everything be ok....

Gosh I hate to hear that Byron! I will say a prayer for you and Leidy. Just put all your trust in the lord and he will take care of you both. Hang in there ok.
