Yesterday completed our path through immigration and citizenship.  Interview was scheduled for 1:00pm, called in at 1:20pm, finished at 1:35pm.  The interviewer was straight and to the point, started by first completing the civics questions and stopped after the 6th (for anyone curious questions were:  What does the constitution do?, What is one thing Benjamin Franklin is known for?,  When was the constitution written?, Name one American Indian tribe in the United States., Who wrote the Declaration of Independence?, and There were 13 original states.  Name three.), then some of the yes/no questions, updates to employment and travel history, then the reading portion (What month is Columbus Day?), then the written portion (Washington D.C. is the capital), then a quick wrap up and done.  Was told to come back at 2:45pm for a Same Day Oath Ceremony, which didn't take place until about 3:15, Certificate of Naturalization received and process now complete.

Congrats!! What city or what office was this? Thanks

If you don't need a biometrics appt then it's just one visit before the oath ceremony and some offices let people do the interview/ceremony on the same day.

It's okay to travel but they do ask you about it and I'd just be careful of traveling 2 weeks before your interview for covid precautions.

Very good point… thank you so much

They re-used my fingerprints so I didn't have to go and do it, but I filed on March 18th and was issued the biometrics reuse letter March 19th.

Awesome that you didn’t have to go for the biometrics appointment! So how many visits total does one have to attend between filing the N-400 and the final oath ceremony?

Also, do you know if it is ok to travel outside the US while under application?

    Thanks a bunch!!

I had filed mines online March 12. An after submitting it like an hour after which by then was March 13 showed biometric reused along with submission date. So basically it showed: March 12 submission and March 12 biometrics reused. Even when I received the notices I got one for biometrics and the other for acceptance. That’s what Laura is saying, on the day she submitted it showed the reuse of her biometrics.

So does that mean that certain people do NOT have to go for the biometrics appointment at all?? Thanks

    Hi! Yes!!

Was approved, here's how it all went:

    - Everyone at the Los Angeles field office was extremely friendly

    - I waited about 20 mins after checking in before an interview officer came to get me. Everyone (employees and visitors) were wearing masks.

    - He was very friendly and casual, he saw how nervous I was and kept telling me this will be a breeze. Very sweet and encouraging.

    - Once we were in the room we took masks off so it would be easier to hear each other

    - He asked what ocean is on the east coast, what did martin luther king jr do, what is an amendmenthow many US senators do we have, why are there 50 stars on the flag and who is the CA governor

    - The sentence to read and write was 'How many senators do we have?' 'We have one hundred senators' which was funny because I'm from England and a native English speaker anyway haha

    - He went through my application pretty fast and didn't ask to see ANY of my documents. Only my interview letter and green card, and that's it. Didn't ask for divorce decree, passport, drivers license, taxes, literally anything else at all. I filed under the 5 yr rule as a divorced person and he didn't ask a single question about my ex.

    - Breezed through the No and Yes questions.

    - He said I was approved and asked me to go wait back in the waiting room and that he would be back with my ceremony info.

    - I waited about 15 more mins then he came to give me some paperwork that stated I was approved and the info for my oath ceremony, which will be this Friday at 8am. He said to bring two passport photos to it.

I was clearly 100000% over-prepared and overly nervous, so hopefully this gives people some peace of mind! LMK if you have any questions! I'll update my timeline now.

Congrats! How long did you have to wait for the fingerprints appointment after filing the N-400 online? Thanks
