  1. Hello Everyone,

My fiancé had his interview in Aug. in Ankara Turkey. In the interview the Co told him that he was approved. On Sept. 6 the ceac status changed from immigrant to nonimmigrant with new creation date. That dat the ceac status also showed "Approved" and that he should receive his visa in 10 days. On sept 14, the status changed to refused and we received the ds- 5535 in the email. I have been reading lots of stories about the form and that it can take a year to resolve. Does anyone know how long it might take. Would you guys share your experience with this process.

  2. I am a fiance visa (K1) I have contacted the NVC and was told that for Iraqis they can choose one of three embassies to go to. they told me once I choose the embassy I want my case to go to, they will change the case number and send my case.

Did you guys hear anything about that. did NVC assign your case to Abu Dhabi? does case number for Iraqis start with the BGH or something else.

I do find it interesting that you were told that your fiancé(e)’s background check has not come back. For the I-129F they supposedly only do background checks on the petitioner, and the beneficiary at the time of the interview.

That's what I have always thought. I am kinda nervous now that the background checks might take a long time.

I hope you will hear great news from T2 agent about your case.

did you call USCIS or did you have a T2 agent call yo

I just called the USCIS number. I told the agent that I have received this response to my last inquiry and I'm just worried why its taking that long. I told him if there is anything wrong with my case. He told me to wait so he could look more into it. He confirmed the response for the inquiry, then told me that with my case they are waiting for the background checks. He said that they are waiting for the foreign country's background check clearance.

I was surprised that he gave me this information. I usually not get a response when calling.

  7. I am a march 8 filer. On December 28, I received this reply to my second inquiry :

According to our records, your Form I-129F petition is assigned to an officer and under active review. While we are unable to project a specific date a decision will be rendered in your case, new correspondence can be expected shortly.

Today I called USCIS, and the agent that I talked to told me that my case waiting for the background checks. He said that USCIS didn't receive the background checks from the foreign country that my fiancé is from.

I just want to ask if anyone in this group have received a similar response to the inquiry, and how long did it take to get approved.

And if you guys have any thoughts on how long background checks take.

  8. Hello there I am really stressed and I need your advise.

so I filled my fiancé application and was received on February 15. Today I was talking to my fiancé and we realized that his birth certificate says that he is born in a different country. I feel so stupid

what should we do. Should we contact the USCIS. And will this mistake be fixed. Or should he just wait for the interview to explain this.

    thank you
