    Getting duplicate letter

    hi,

    They send mail through Indian post... it takes 7 working days to reach.... Saturday and sundays are holidays. So calculate 7 working days from Feb 15 and you will get the date when you will get letter from them.

    dont know what they did exactly in security chk.......i hv heard that it took 4-6 weeks for security chk........

    but in my case i had interview on 7thfeb.... on 8th feb case sent to washington DC......and embassy called me to give fingerprints on 12th feb....i gave fingerprints on 14th feb.....on 15th feb embassy sent me a letter to submit my passport..

    now i cant even imagine what they check in this short time of period.....

    seems like GOD is checking our patience :whistle:

    embassy sent letter for passport submission on 15feb(as operator told me)......but hvnt received yet

    when went embassy for issue of duplicate letter....the lady said u hv to wait for a week....if after week u dint get the letter, then they will issue duplicate one........

    my problem is that i cant submit my passport without that letter........

    now i'll try to get email that letter today .....

    hope they email me the letter

    its like everything completed but u r helpless........what a situation...GOD help me :lol:

    whtas that for? has the visa been issued?

    has your case been put in for security checks? what did they say?

    my case is under AP

    AP is very common especially among male visa applicants. The Embassy will call the visa applicant to coem to the Embassy for visa, once the AP is over.

    embassy has sent me a letter to submit my passport :dance: ...........hope everything done in my case & hope they need it for visa......

    I think their case got sent to Washington for AP, but they have kept her passport (thats good news). Wishing the best for jeta&preeti (F)

    at the time of interview they kept my passport but embassy called me agn for fingerprints and returned my passport ......and dint give any 221(g) form....but ya my case is under AP...........

    but i m not upset....bcoz before time nothing can happen

    It sounds like your case went to the same place my husband's did. Washington DC. We were told by the embassy that the extra processing would take 7-10 business days. We immediately got our congressman involved, and they told us it would take ~ 2 months' time. The embassy did not take my husband's passport though and it wasn't formally called a 221g, even though that's what it is. From my understanding, there is no way to expedite this *extra* security check (which I highly suspect is little more than a thorough Google search, but that's me being quite cynical). When you call DOS, they can only say if the case is still pending. No timelines, nothing.

    I am a bit perplexed why the CO took your passport because it usually means that they expect to return it to you within a couple of weeks. (It is usually a good sign if they do keep it). However, I believe that they cannot withhold your passport for an extended period of time. I would recommend emailing the embassy and contacting your congressman so that someone can find out a) how long this extra processing will take and B) ask them to return your passport in the meanwhile.

    Hopefully, the AP will be short. :)

    hi ladyjane.......i went to embassy 4 fingerprints (again...as they lost my fingerprints)......

    their officer said smilingly that u r done with us ....but DOS chk is pending and returned my passport......

    lets c NOW for how long security chk our patience :crying:

    Even if you are approved for a visa...You still may need to be cleared by the Department of State before the Embassy can issue the visa...It is called ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING. Also known as AP

    God help you in this...Because AP can takes weeks or months...

    The number to call to find out your AP status is:

    202-663-1225

    Press option 1

    Then press Option 0

    To speak with a Visa specialist

    You are almost there. Hang in there. You can not do anything to expedite the AP. The Embassy will call the visa applicant, once everything is clear.

    after NOA2......when ur case goes to NVC......then NVC( in some cases embassy) collects DS 230 form from beneficiary(u can chk DS230 form online).....in that form their is space for ur actual name and name after marriage( for women).......

    now according to me if u r using ur husband name/lastname legally on all papers(marriage cert etc)......u should get ur name change in passport.....bcoz its good to be on safer side than facing problem afterward.....now u have time ,use it

    and if not ....then its ok

    i had my interview on 7th feb........

    after interview CO told me that ur case is ok with me..........& she will review my case and will let me know in a week.....and retained my passport......i was not issued 221(g) during interview .........

    also she told that i would get either passport or a paper after a week

    when i called DOS ....opertor told me that ur case has been sent to Washington DC for security check

    can any one tell what is all this????

    i never felt so helpless ever before

    am I under Administrative processing?????

    help plzzzzz

    how was the interview....didnt your wife ask to the CO ............... when she will be getting the visa or is your case under administrative processing or check...... if the CO has taken the PASSPORT... SHE WILL PROBABLY GETTING THE VISA....... keeep us posted..

    DOS knows.... about your visa status... you can call them and find it out

    interview was fine.......when i asked CO abt visa.....she told that we will review ur case and u'll b informed......

    when i asked that whether visa is granted or not.......she told either visa or some paper will be couriered

    this mean there r chances of administrative processing in my case...

    well jigi whtat is this administrative processing??????
