  1. Hi,

I have some useful information for anyone who has a foreign cheque to pay into their US bank account. I just took my tax refund from the UK goverment into one of my banks - Bank of the West - in San Francisco - and they said "$50 and 2 to 3 weeks". So I tried my other one....Wellsfargo did it for $1.50 and took 2 days. Amazing. The guy @ BOTW didn't believe me and I almost didn't believe it myself.

    Regards

    William

  2. couldn't get one! I have several checking accounts, my main one with Bank of the West is well funded and I have a CD account too. They said I needed 2 years of history. They processed my application before telling me this, even though I told them right off the bat! Instead I went into wellsfargo today and signed up for a secured credit card. $18 per year. It required a checking account. Wellsfargo usually charge fees for their checking, but since he was in the process of clocking up a sale with me he waived those fees. $300 deposit, refundable when it converts to a credit card in 12 months.

also tried amazon.com they said no too

  3. Hey all,

We had a great interview at 630 Sansome in San Francisco. The lady was so nice to us. We only waited 20 minutes. She wasn't so interested in our lack of proof, as she said that "As you have only been married a short while, we don't expect you to have a lot of joint evidence yet". She approved us, and recommended that we start collecting everything that we have together so that we will not need another interview in 2 years to lift the conditions. The more evidence that is sent to the service centre, the less that they care to interview again. She understood that we only had my wife on the lease because it was cheaper :-)

She was interested in how we met, but didn't really probe. I think it was obvious that we were a happily married couple!

    So Happy!!!

  4. So I guess to revise... we have the following:

    - Copy of Joint tax return for 2007

    - PG&E utility bill in joint names

    - Joint credit card from the UK with the statement coming here

    - She is listed as "pay on death beneficiary" on my bank account

    - Plenty of letters/statements that we have in our sepereate names (at&t in my wife's name, adoption paperwork in mine) that have come to the same address

    - Plenty of photos of us kissing/hugging/together with our dog&cat

    Starting to look better...

  5. thanks.

Her father is sponsoring us and I wonder if that will make a difference. How many fathers would join a transatlantic lie?!

In the package we first sent, we already have 2 affidavits from a friend and from my mother-in-law. Hmm, maybe we should gather a few more today!

Also, on our joint tax return the refund is indicated as going to my bank account number.

  6. Hi!

We have our interview on Wednesday for AOS and I have last minute nerves of course!

What do you guys think of the evidence we have for relationship/residence??

    - Plenty of photos of us kissing/hugging/together with our dog&cat

    - Copy of Joint tax return for 2007

    - PG&E utility bill in joint names

We do not have a joint bank account as my wife's credit is really bad and we don't want to have jointly bad credit in case we want to buy a house one day.

We have no current lease at our current apartment, it is month to month.

We both have things addressed to the house we live in - for example we adopted a dog and it the paperwork went to me at our address.

I am nervous because everyone else seems to have a lot more evidence. We can answer every question under sun sun about our lives together!!

    Thanks!

  7. That's good to hear, thanks all.

The tax return document we sent them was a print-out of the "report" screen at CitizenTax.com (the return was filed online). I wonder if this is an issue - maybe they want an certified one? We have ordered them, but they take 2 weeks. The letter we received does refer to the "federal tax return you submitted..."...So I am thinking that the document are correct, but what they want is us to resubmit them PLUS the extra evidence of current income.

I wish they would be more clear - I can only imagine the stress that the whole process would cause before places like visajourney existed! It is already stressful enough!!

Cécy - do you think it is necessary to submit a new I-864?

  8. Hey!

So today we received a Request for Initial Evidence for the i-130/i-485 package we submitted in July.

They have requested federal tax transcipts from the IRS, which we have already submitted. I understand that they often ask for stuff again, so not a big problem.

However, the problem is that they state that the income for 2006 was insufficient (it is!) , but that the current income is sufficient, and that we should submit evidence. of current income.

The income stated on her 2006 tax return was $18962, above the 125% line. She has no dependents, it is just the two of us.

    Should we contact them?

Also, it states that I cannot accept interim employment until 90 days after they receive the evidence from me. So thats another 90 days until I can work???? I have my biometrics tomorrow, I was hoping to work soon :-(

    Thanks!

    William
